That was a pretty emotional entry to Whitney Houston's song world. At that time when Whitney's career came to an ending, her voice was heavily damaged Her life ended sadly. I saw her live in concert 1988 in Frankfurt as a young man and was overwhelmed by her beauty, her voice and connection to the audience. Young Whitney was on another level and her voice was unbelievable. None of us thought it can be possible - the things she did live that others weren't able to do in a studio. When she sang you always thought she did it only for you. She 's missed very much. If you want to experience a younger Whitney you should react to "I have nothing" live (Billboard 1993)

People don't believe me when I say she had literally nothing left at this point. Her voice was so commanding in the late 80's and early 90's. She had a limitless range and could hit almost every note on the piano. I love this, because it showcases what she was able to do with almost no vocal ability left (compared to what she used to be able to do). Compared to the ordinary individual, it was fabulous, but compared to what she was once capable of, it's showcasing what a person who had everything is doing with what is left, which wasn't much. She brought it, but if you watch concerts of her after that, she struggled mightily. She had moments of greatness, but also many moments of regret. So sad!

I have listened to Whitney since I first experienced this majestic gift on the Arsenio Hall Show decades ago. I am a trained musician and this young woman I was hearing pierced my soul. The range of her voice reached the heavens. She was a gift. This song to me is her Opus. It is towards the end of her earthly journey with us. I saw an image of her as a child choir singer and this song is returning her to her relationship with her Lord and Savior. Even though she had lost some of her voice she had in the past she is so beautiful in this prayer to God. I cried so much when we lost her. She will forever be a progeny like the greatest musicians and singers of human history. Thank you for including this in your reactions. I listened to it again and again. It is my favorite. Still shed a tear hearing her sing this song, knowing she's singing about accepting the wrongs she made with the drugs and some choices she made but through it all, the one constant she could always turn to was her Lord for comfort and guidance. She had some hard times and even sadder she still has that beautiful control, but the drugs took their toll, her voice is huskier and the high notes now out of her range. It was her comeback song along with step by step, both about acknowledgement but with positivity for the way back, then sadly we lost her...RIP Whitney.

Man, this one chokes me up! I followed her entire career and this is a VERY, VERY SAD song. In her prime, Whitney had the best voice of all time. It was clear and powerful and she had the most beautiful soprano and vibrato. This song represents Whitney broken and on her way out. The lyrics almost predict her death, which happened shortly after this. The voice in this video is a voice damaged by addiction, not the glorious one that took her to heights no other singer had ever achieved. In this performance, she is a shadow of her former self. You must dive into her hits to discover this treasure! "I Will Always Love You (one of the best-selling singles of all time), "Didn't We Almost Have It All", "I Have Nothing", "Greatest Love of All" "The National Anthem" and, and, and....

Like many others here, I weep when I think of what was and what might have been. In her prime, she had a voice that was simply unmatched anywhere. Her presence filled the space, whether it was a room or a stadium. Her life was full of tumult, and substances had their hooks in her. I believe she was trying to get clean and wasn't quite there yet when the end came. To think of what musical treasures we might have had if she had managed to finally grasp sobriety. She would, without a doubt, be the Grand Dame of R&B and the matriarch to whom others all looked. She earned that much in her lifetime, and it is the greatest sadness that we never got to really see that. Rest in peace, dear Whitney. Whatever sense of peace you sought in life, I hope you finally found it. God rest you. ❤🙏🏼
