Yes, it’s Dion Warwick, Elton John, Stevie Wonder and Gladys Knight.

Hell Ya It Is! Check out everyone #1 of these musical icons
How would u like that group for backup :)
Really? So ridiculous you bought right into the we don’t know please let us know trick.. lol!
@@richardlacey4923 Yiu bought into the let me be an internet troll BS. You can leave now.
Gladys Knight is a legend…anything you pick of hers is 100% class!
So true!
Gladys may be my favorite female singer... ever!
Agree 👍
The empress of soul herself Gladys Knight. Listen to: If I was your woman by Gladys knight and the Pips.
@@mamaasaiz Me, too. Ms. Knight always leaves me weak in the knees.
Dionne, Elton, Stevie & Gladys - LEGENDS who are still alive and we’re so fortunate to have them.
Was thinking the same thing
Gladys Knight brings tears to my eyes. She has so much genuine soul in her.
I totally agree with you. One of my top 10 favorite female singers, yes, she is superb, and i feel, very, very underrated.
Whatever?
Fact's
She’s cute
This song's proceeds were all donated to an AIDS charity. We were losing people left and right with no hope in sight to this disease. Then this song comes out and just makes you weep and gives some kind of hope. It was pretty incredible.
Return customers are the best customers, that's why there is no cure. The catholic church was able to cure black plague 200 years ago before anyone even knew what a germ or virus was but it didn't pay as good as someone who spends $200 a month to treat symptoms of their disease.
The AIDS epidemic was completely overblown. They were scaring people into thinking it was going to explode and start decimating the population, but that was based on the false narrative that it was a disease that would spread easily throughout the entire population. It's a disease that still to this day only affects gay men and drug users sharing needles.
😭 R.I.P. lost boys
@@Rowgue51 I shouldn’t even reply to such an incredibly ignorant comment, but I can only hope you will better inform yourself in the future. Over 32 million people have died worldwide from AIDs since the beginning of the pandemic. Approximately 680,000 died last year alone and, according to the CDC, in 2019 heterosexual contact accounted for 23% of all the HIV diagnoses in the USA.
@@Rowgue51 what a bunch of crock you're trying to spread!
In addition to what everyone else is saying, I think you should know that this song was done as a fundraiser/public awareness campaign for HIV/AIDS (esp. in the Black community). Dionne Warwick spearheaded the effort and, perhaps most amazingly, this was in 1985 when the stigma against advocacy for people with HIV/AIDS was HUGE. Dionne, Stevie, Gladys & Elton all took a substantial risk to their careers when they did this song together; whatever else anyone says about those four incredible artists, they covered themselves in glory with this.
P.S. You must, must, must react to Gladys Knight & The Pips - when it comes to vocals she's in the same lofty tier as Aretha Franklin.
Those were amazing times when the music world came together for charity and good. There would never be anything as amazing a LiveAid was.
@Vageta's Voice4Truth I have no idea what you're talking about, but go off, I guess.
@@goreyfantod5213 I know? What the hell was she talking about?😂
Specifically, "Midnight Train To Georgia"!!!
YES!!! thank you!!!!!!! You said it well!!!
Dionne Warwick was Whitney Houston's cousin not aunt as I thought. This song was a star studded musical treat.
I believe cousin. Not Aunt... A far older cousin...
@@MsBeaBea AHH my mistake 😊
This song was released for AIDS awareness and research. The song stars Dionne Warwick with Sir Elton John, Stevie Wonder and Gladys Knight.
It is the incomparable Gladys Knight, Amber. You were right when you said it before. Dionne, Stevie, Elton and Gladys. What a collaboration!!
-definetly !-
Midnight Train to Georgia - is the best song ever performed. Gladys Knight and the Pips is a vein of gold you have yet to discover. Gladys is still performing.
I’ve seen Gladys a few years ago and her voice is still in stunning voice !!! Dionne has a stunning voice too and love her too this being one of her anthems …….
Omg yessss!!
Love love love that song. Its one those songs that is impossible not to sing when you hear it.
You are so right Midnight Train to Georgia!!!!
I hear you. I recommended her earlier. Gotta hear Gladys!
The wonderful Dionne Warwick was Burt Bacharach's number one muse. She sang so many of his songs, that it is hard to separate them--his songs and her voice go together seamlessly.
Kudos to you both for learning about this song and these stars. From Wikipedia: "It was first recorded in 1982 by Rod Stewart for the soundtrack of the film Night Shift, but it is better known for the 1985 cover version by Dionne Warwick, Elton John, Gladys Knight, and Stevie Wonder. This recording, billed as being by "Dionne Warwick & Friends", was released as a charity single for AIDS research and prevention. It was a massive hit, becoming the number-one single of 1986 in the United States, and winning the Grammy Awards for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals and Song of the Year. It raised over $3 million for its cause."
Thank you for that tidbit, had no idea Rod Stewart originally recorded it. I bet his version is golden too.
Dionne Warwick is Whitney Houston's cousin (Dionne's Aunt is Whitney's mother, Cissy Houston).
This was such a huge hit back in the 80s.
I think Dionne and Cissy are first cousins
@@7lillie Julie Harden is correct. Dionne, b. Dec. 1940 & Whitney, b. Aug. 1963 were 1st cousins. Dionne's mother, Lee Drinkard (Warrick, aka Warwick) & Whitney's mother, Emily "Cissy" Drinkard (Houston) were sisters.
And Leontyne Price is a cousin as well.
@@george217 I've seen it said that Leontyne is related to the Drinkard family, but I haven't been able to figure out the connection. Her parents are James Price & Katherine Baker.
You couldn't escape this song when it first came out.
"I Say A Little Prayer" is probably Dionne Warrick's most famous hit.
I believe that's Aretha Franklin famous song
Walk on By ?
@@catman2629 and also Do you know the way to San Jose. I remember being a little kid and hearing it on the radio. I had no clue where San Jose was lol as I lived in South America.
“I’ll Never Fall in Love Again” and “San Jose” are my two favorites by Warwick, but she has a ton of amazing songs!
This song is Miss Dionne's most famous song. It totally ran away with Song of the Year.
WHO can say anything bad about Dion? Great human being. Awesome singer and talent. Beautiful person.
In my book, Ms. Dionne is the best that ever did it ❤❤❤
Four legends singing together. It doesn’t get better than this!
Of course that great singer is Gladys Knight. Listen to her doing "Midnight Train To Georgia", "Neither One Of Us", and "The Best Thing That Ever Happened".
Yes, yes and yes!
Also her rendition of I Heard it through the grapevine.. and her '80s song Love overboard. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Gladys was the woman who introduced Focus on the Midnight Special the other day!
although that's Natalie Cole, not Gladys Knight

Gladys Knight and the pips "midnight train to Georgia " , are a must . Gladys is not only an icon amazing singer but an overall great person
100% agree. Midnight Train is truly iconic. Somehow, Gladys Knight is still underrated after all these years, at least in my opinion. She crushes Midnight Train.
@@jimbass5825 I always felt that Gladys Knight has been overlooked as one of the greatest singers.
Yes! Love Gladys Knight and the Pips! Midnight train to Georgia is a classic! Must hear this song~
She's phenomenal. I would also recommend "You're the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me."
Fabulous song!
Gladys sounds gorgeous!
OMG...I never get tired of watching young kids trying to figure out who these greats are!
Dionne is Whitney Houston’s cousin. Gladys Knight is most known for her work with her group, Gladys Knight & the Pips: Midnight Train to Georgia; Neither One Of Us; Heard It Through The Grapevine; Your the Best Thing; My Imagination; Love Overboard. Gladys also had the 1st video with break dancing in it, Save The Overtime. That’s What Friends are For was written by iconic composer, Burt Bacharach. The project was partially organized by the late great actress, Elizabeth Taylor, to raise money in the midst of the AIDS crisis. Dionne was connected with Burt from the late 1960’s, where she had many hits singing his music like, Say a Little Prayer For You, I’ll Never Fall in Love Again, Alfie & What the World Needs Now. Stevie Wonder is one of the iconic artists in the history of recorded popular music, not just ‘the piano player’. He’s a multi-instrumentalist. In the 70’s & part of the ‘80’s, Stevie also played drums on most of his music. He also wrote Loving You, recorded by the late Minnie Ripperton, & I Can’t Help It, which Michael Jackson recorded on his album, Off The Wall. Wow!
You need to listen to more Stevie Wonder. He was, and still is, a musical genius. His album, The Songs is the Key of Life, is a masterpiece and ahead of its time.
Yep, start with Superstition and Higher Ground. And you're still barely scratching the surface of his greatness.
Amen
@@jimbass5825 And I Wish
Just a bit surprised you didn't instantly recognise Stevie W at the beginning with the harmonica ..
Absolutely agree. Songs in the Key of Life is an absolute masterpiece!
Dionne sang in We Are the World. Also, Dionne is Whitney Houston's cousin.
Stevie Wonder was also in "We Are The World." :)
Thought she was her aunt.

I Just love how Jordan smiled throughout the whole song. Yes Dionne, Elton, Gladys and Stevie was all actual close friends.
Amber always trust your gut! You had it! The incomparable Ms. Gladys Knight. Jay, you made me laugh, you recognize Elton John, but Stevie Wonders signature harmonica went right over your head til he sang. I am teasing, but thanks! Enjoyed that with you guys!
I so agree... Stevie was the first thing you see... If you're familiar with him at all you see the face and harmonica and know... Star studded? No Legendary stars.
This song is unbelieveable good, just one of the best ever.
It's like walking through the forest and not seeing a single tree🤪
More STEVIE WONDER please: “Living for the City,” “Superstition,” “As,” “Master Blaster,” “Isn’t She Lovely,” “Fingertips,” etc. Thanks ✨🤪
Yes. Early Stevie. Older Stevie. Just do Stevie Wonder 🔥🔥🔥
Don't forget 'I Just Called To Say I Love You!'
And, "Signed, Sealed, and Delivered" by Stevie Wonder!!
" Hello all, this is the 80s. We had the best music. Sorry kids. It is what it is."
Maybe the early 80's but I grew up in the 70's and there were so many good groups putting out great songs. It was a great time to live.
THIS ONE IS A JEWEL...
Glad your having fun discovering great music. Adventure for the young people!🤠🇺🇸🇬🇧🐴🥪✌️
No shame guys. That's Dionne, Elton, Gladys and Stevie. I love that you are so excited about discovering these artists. Dionne was one of the top recording artists in the 60's/70's and 80's.
She does have an iconic voice! Still love listening to her.
"Walk on By" is my favorite song by her!!
I love that song!
Yessss! Definitely 😍
Oh yes, of course!
Do you know the way to San José?
Mine too!!!!!
So I am going to tell a story, I met Stevie Wonder once, I use to work at a Apple store, he would come in often with his security. And when i got to interact with him he was sitting on one of the apple tables. he was so kind and gentle. After he was done he was leaving and like 15 women rushed him and asked for a picture and he was so nice and said yes, they surrounded him on both sides and got the pic. He is such a huge star and some people just don't know what impact he made on music and to then meet him, how gentle he was, its the only word I can come up with to describe his demeanor... When you are that talented you don't have to be mean to prove how famous you are and he is proof of that.
It was a song to raise AIDS awareness. And yes. That is THE EMPRESS OF SOUL. MS. Gladys Knight!!!
Whitney Houstons aunt. She had many hits in the sixties with Burt Bacharact writing most of the songs.
Cousin, their mothers were sisters
Dionne is Whitney's first cousin . Dionne's mother Lee and Whitney's mother Cissy were sisters. Lee was the oldest daughter in the family and Cissy was the last child born in the family.
Stacey is correct they are first cousins through their mother’s. You can definitely see the family resemblance. I’m sure that’s why Jay thinks she looks familiar. Her and Whitney could pass for sisters despite the age difference (23 years). They Both have very beautiful and striking features.
@@cptneedham So much talent in that family, Cissy and Dionne's mother are also first cousins to opera singer Leontyne Price.
Is that Elton John? Wait a minute, is THAT Elton John??!! But totally missing Stevie Wonder opening the song with the harmonica... Priceless! 😎
Absolutely, mind you: Aren't they getting close to loose citizenship? 😆
🤯🤯 really!
Amber almost said "Stevie" when the harmonica came in.
He's an uncle Tom !!! When he react to frank Sinatra's song , My Way , this Tom said he wish he was Italian .
You guys need to tune in to all these legends, missing Stevie 😱😱😱
Dionne Warwick is Whitney Houston's aunt. Great reaction guys. You got me going down memory lane with all these classics.
I was in 2nd or 3rd grade when this came out. I use to sing it at the play ground or recess everyday. Elton and Dionne were really good friends

When Gladys’s part hit, I saw you guys get transported to church. Dionne is Whitney’s Aunty, Elton you got right away, Stevie ‘he is a’ Wonder and the woman second to only Aretha in soul and R&B Gladys Knight.
I don't know if anyone has said this, but Dionne Warwick bumped into Elton John in a store THE NIGHT BEFORE she recorded this song. She invited him to duet this song with her, and he showed up the very next day with Stevie Wonder and Gladys Knight. Now that is CLOUT!

@@cubfanmikeYes. And Stevie is more than a “piano player”. I don’t get how young people don’t know the legends.
Then there was this time that recognition was given to singers NOT "of color" but, could Sing or had that crossover ability. Elton. Steve perry, Cyndi Lauper, Tina Marie, George Michael, Bee Gees,Phil Collins, later Madonna.....and The Rockers. The power of talent.
I love that you guys are showing love to so much legendary music and artists. But it makes me sad to realize that so many young people don't know who these legends are!
Whoever came up with the order is a genius. Saving Gladys for last like an anchor on a relay race. She brought it home. Gladys is small in stature, but packs a punch!!!
Oh, children, you have just given yourselves a new assignment. This one is IMPORTANT. You need to react to "Midnight Train to Georgia" by Gladys Knight and the Pips. There are several great videos of them performing this song live, and this one is iconic enough that I would put it high on the priority list.
Such a heartwarming, genuine song of love and friendship. Unbelievable combination. And Stevie's vocals and harmonica really make it happen.

Gladys’ version of “Heard It Through the Grapevine” is iconic! You’ll love it!
Seconding the recommendation to do Dionne Warwick's "Heartbreaker" which was written for her by the Bee Gees. Also worth nothing that a ton of the hit songs that the Bee Gees wrote for others, they also did recordings of themselves, so I highly recommend checking out their versions. You listened to Celine Dion a while back and she has a song written by them "Immortality" with them providing backup.
As for Gladys, she's simply amazing and all of her songs are great, but I highly recommend "Midnight Train to Georgia" which is one of her biggest and I think also counts as a storytelling song. Seriously though, you can't go wrong with Gladys.
I love Dion Warwick singing this Bee Gee tune that they wrote, it's crazy because Robin was actually really upset that Barry decided that this song would be a definite hit, but he knew that choosing Dion Warwick to sing and record it...That she was perfect to sing this awesome song...Dion you sound absolutely fabulous singing this Bee Gees song, but you my beautiful lady made it your own. 💚💛🧡❤️
you need to put that in all caps - that it was written by the BEE GEES. You know if Jay sees that he'll jump right on it!!! 😁

My favorite Dionne song is "Don't Make Me Over." She has a live version from 1963 that is great. The other lady is the great Gladys Knight.
The remake by Sybil wasn't bad either. They punched it up with a little dance beat.
My favorite is the theme song from Valley of the Dolls.

A song played so much in the 80s that I take it for granted. I found myself in tears watching this today. It's beautiful, and the fact that it was a fundraiser to fight AIDS, which was ravaging my community at the time is amazing. Thanks for watching this so I could re-experience it as if it was the first time. And echoing the requests for Midnight Train to Georgia.
And the government was completely ignoring. The offical government stance for a long time was that it was “killing all the right people” something said in the Oval Office on tape.

I remember this song when it debuted. I was in high school and it brings back such great memories. Take a look at Dionne Warwick. I think she is a cousin of Whitney Houston or something like that. I absolutely love your channel and look for new videos daily. Keep them coming.
Dionne had her own show and sang this song with other people too.
I think you should do a deeper dive on Dionne. She had a string of hits in the early to mid sixties of songs written by Burt Bachrach and Hal David. Walk On By was probably the first of them, and a good place to start. Don't Make Me Over puts her octave range on full display. One of the greatest voices of all time, and a relative of Whitney Houston.
I believe she was Whitneys cousin or aunty.

You were right: That was Gladys Knight, appearing with the others for a superstar performance billed as "Dionne and Friends." Stevie Wonder and Gladys Knight have some of the best voices ever, fantastic, unique voices, and Stevie is a fantastic multi-instrumentalist. This was the biggest hit of 1985 in the US and, I just found out, also a cover! It was recorded twice before in previous years as far back as 1978, including once by Rod Stewart, but this was the only one that became a hit.
