- Hey guys!
I keep taking little breaks without realising oops! Here I talk about my experience of feeding my dogs raw diet. Don't get me wrong... I'm not expert AT ALL, but if the things I noticed shed some light on things you're going through OR this gives you the confidence to step into the world of raw then great.
As always it's all completely individual so you do whats right for you and your miniature dachshund.

Hi! Thanks for the video! I feed my two dachshunds raw with veggies from puppyhood. They love it, are healthy, full of energy, their digestion is perfect, hair is beautiful. I used kibble just few times when we were travelling and they had no problems either. And I regularly add anti parasite medicine. No problems so far.
As a dialect coach and dachs-o-phile/daxophile, I can happily confirm yours is the correct pronunciation of 'offal' in British English. Never thought I'd say that sentence.
yay!!!! I appreciate your professional input! 💜💜
Thank you so much for all your videos! We collect our gorgeous pup on Saturday and my partner and I have been in research mode for months so finding your videos where you explain everything so well has been amazing!!
Best of luck! X
Your visuals really are stunning! I’ve seen naturescapes like yours selling for hundreds of dollars. And as to stock footage for films, you could name your price. The girls, oh my, they surely are close to the fastest animals alive pound for pound...and their endurance given their sedentary life is unbelievable. Thank you for treating us all with your views of Holland.
Happy Birthday Romy. You are a beautiful 12 year old girl inside & out. I could tell by your smile that you really were pleased by your gifts.
It's behind you! :)
Hi Lenny, took your advice and feed just a tiny bit of kibble in a treat ball or snuffle mat before bed! What a transformation. Toto no longer wakes me at five crying and trembling in anticipation of breakfast. I’ve reduced his raw to compensate for the calorie addition. I wouldn’t have thought of mixing the two as I love feeding raw rather than grain, cereal and additive rubbish . I’d love you to do a video on raw natural treats and best kibble, also on what to expect buying an ex breeding dog. Love your channel. Thankyou x
Hey Lisa! That’s great news about his sleeping :)
I’ve just released a kibble myself ❤️ it’s the same kibble I’ve been feeding for 5+ years but the company are closing so I go in touch with the manufacturer. You can check it out at Nemoandcrew.com
I have had 3 ex breeding dogs in my life so I will definitely do a video on this. Great idea! X
@@lennysixdachshunds1069 fantastic will check it out, what should we be looking for in a kibble as I’m of the mindset high protein, so it sort of goes against my instinct to feed kibble, but it’s working for Toto and he’s happier! My ex breeding girl arrives end of next month when puppies are off her. I went to see a pup and fell in love with the mum and when breeder said it was mums last litter as she had a Caesarian and consequent neuter, I asked for her. Breeder bought her over to the house to check me and my dogs out and have a play date and was happy to let her go to me. She is a true snuggle bug, I’m so lucky! She’s a long haired min cream brindle.
Great video, have you tried paleo ridge raw. Our Ralph has that with a bit of chopped pepper 🫑 in and he loves it. With no need to add kibble. Then a rabbits ear once a day as treat. Can’t recommend paleo ridge enough. He wasn’t keen on kibble but wolfs down his raw
Hey! We did try it but found it quite poor quality raw made all my pooches have the runs 😭 we feed kibble and raw mostly for cost reasons but also just keeps them looking snd feeling good :) all dogs are different though x
Hi Lenny! Thank you so much for all your videos, I’ve learnt so much! We’re due to pick up our mini Dachshund puppy in a couple of weeks. The breeder is using a pure raw diet, which we will continue initially when she comes home. I’d like to transition to a 50:50 raw and high quality kibble, just would be better for us financially. Breeder told me this isn’t a good idea as they digest raw and kibble differently. What are your thoughts? And any tips for doing this transition? Was thinking of gradually adding the kibble and reduce the raw.. thanks so much - Lottie x
The digestion thing is a old wives tail and not true :) pop a tiny amount of kibble in with the raw once puppy is settled into your home and build from there :) x
Thanks so much Lenny, really appreciate it :)
Hi Lenny hope you are well, your videos are brilliant thank you! I’m a new mum of a 11week mini dachshund and nearly ready to go out on little walkies soon...however I just want to ask for some advice about exercise times that’s are best to help joint development etc some confusing advice out there ! Thanks in advance 💕🐾💕
Hey Lauren! So lead walks should be limited to 5 minutes per month of age. However off lead soft ground walks can really be as much as you like. Best to encourage some settle though throughout the day x
Thank you so much for your advice ❤️🐾
Hi Lenny, perfect timing! My husband and I were talking about possibly switching to raw food for our dachshund. He's on kibble at the moment but he's being fussy and it seems like he doesn't enjoy it. We've heard a lot about butternut box. Would you recommend that? X
Butternut box isn’t raw lovely! It’s a cooked processed food. X
@@lennysixdachshunds1069 well colour me confused!! I'll have to look more into it. Most of the dog owners I've spoken to recommend it to me so I presumed it must be raw. Thank you for clarifying x
No problem :) I think the confusion is because it’s frozen after it’s cooked. But it’s still cooked unlike raw xx
Hi, I have a 1 year old dachshund and its my first time with this particular breed. I tried high end different kibbles but I noticed he wasn’t eating them at all until I got Purina One SmartBlend that you would get at your local target or Walmart and he seems to really like it I just feel like the food is cheap and not sure if I should be feeding it.I’ve also mix (JustFoodDogs) in his kibble and he enjoys.
What is suggestions for the best diet? help
I've just got a 9 week old doxy. And already started the change from her kibble to raw, she will always wolf the raw down and graze at the kibble. If you have any advice for me for my little girl id love to hear it :) x
Sounds like she’s doing great! What type of advice are you looking for? Xx
@@lennysixdachshunds1069 thank you that means a lot! And you've answered most of it in your videos to he honest🤣 x
Hehehehe! I do go on a bit 🤣🤣
@@lennysixdachshunds1069 no keep going! I need to know every last thing x
We feed our 2 year ild male raw but only since he was 7 mths. Our new arrival arrived Sunday smd I’m a little clueless as she’s going to be on raw at 8wks Any help is great xx
The breeder should tell you exactly what to feed as per what they’ve been weaned on xzz
So our puppy will be coming to us with raw food and we are keeping him on it for a month before transitioning to kibble gradually. I've heard that it's bad to mix kibble with raw food though but can't find out why? When you say you give them both do you give them separately like one or another for a meal? I know raw is better nutritionally but my partner is v keen to get the new addition onto kibble as our first is on kibble and I'm trying to convince him that maybe we should transition the first to raw instead so they are both on the same food. Other than nutritional benefits, what else can I telk him to convince him?
Raw helps with anal glands, skin allergies, weight control and less poop xx
@@lennysixdachshunds1069 but our first one who's on kibble is fine with all of that to be honest and our vet said the kibble we are on is good so despite me saying to my partner that people don't recommend it and the nutrition sites say it's not great he's still determined on kibble
Kibble is fine if it’s a decent on and your other dogs fine! So not sure I can convince him lol x
@@lennysixdachshunds1069 haha no that's okay thank you ☺️
Do you have any experience with the difference between kibble and cold-pressed pellets?
The difference is the cooking process. Cold pressed supposedly retains more of the goodness in the meats etc rather than kibble which is cooked with heat x
@@lennysixdachshunds1069 Do you recommend using cold pressed?
Hey, I love your videos as I’m getting a 8 week old dachshund next week! Just wondering if you have an Instagram?
We have two! @nemotripawdsausagedawg and @nemoandcrew
How many times do you feed your dachshunds daily?
Twice x
Can I do mix?? Put raw meat in kibble?
Absolutely :) that’s what we do x
I'm afraid of raw meat coz of possible parasites in flesh if meat....so I cook the meat..ty
I don’t agree with feeding raw food. My mates do it. My dogs love cooked food. People think by being raw it how the dogs used to live thousands of years ago. Reality is, the dogs have had mutation in dna to process grains and dogs only became dogs when we started feeding them. That’s why there our best friend. Don’t do it love.. it’s.BS No one done it ten years ago. I tell you what. Why don’t you do a company and director check on those dog food brands. See when established, see if there just jumping on the Instagram bandwagon. Sorry for the rant. Lol
My mum has fed raw to her dogs for 30 years and I’ve fed it for 3 years. It’s the only time my dogs have been allergy free. It also was the change in my min pin that stopped her having seizures :) so I will definitely not be changing back. I appreciate all views though. I would be interested to know if you’ve ever tried giving your dogs any type of raw diet x
@@lennysixdachshunds1069 hi there. Wow , your mum done it for 30 years. I honestly have only heard of it recently. And I’m totally against it. My mates dog feed comes from a local pet shop out of a freezer. You got to get it out and leave it out for hours, then there’s all blood as well. Sick!!! I understand your position I do but it’s not for me. I feed mine fresh pet from Tesco.
Also. Beef and pork are bad for dogs, cooked or raw.
Take care and
Merry Christmas
I asked the vet if dogs can get parasites from raw and he said they can.
Dogs can also get parasites from kibble and from eating poop on their walks. I assure you there is no increased risks if done properly. Especially as the food is frozen for lengths of time before feeding.
I would personally never feed a Tesco pet food. But that’s why it’s all personal preference. Do you eat meat? I don’t personally I find this manageable. I just make sure everything is kept cleanly as it should be and wear gloves.
