  • DIY install of Garmin Transducer onto a Motor Guide Xi5 Trolling motor, while still retaining the function of Motor Guide Quick Release Bracket. With these tips you can easily take on off and on your Trolling Motor and still employ the use of a TM mounted transducer. Just another Mod for my Bass Tracker Heritage Classic XL. Step by step instillation and demonstration of function. Enjoy! Hopefully this will give you ideas and help with your next install. Thanks for watching!

Great install and I think you have the same illness I do with the over thinking a process but if we don't the project won't be as good as possible and it will bug us even more.

@@willtorrez It's through a NEMA 2000 network.. Search out a video on CZcams that explains setting one up. That would be my advice. It's not complicated but does require the components for them to communicate with each other. Theirs no possibility I can explain it beyond that advice in the comments. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@@stephansmithoutdoors I actually have NMEA2k ready to go. My situation is should I use that same set up with a transducer on the trolling motor or just use the 2-D sonar without having any other wires connected to the shaft, all I really y need is water temp, depth and 2D sonar. It’s my backwater boat ,TM gets beat up with weeds, rocks, Hydrilla and moss. Trying to avoid any loose wires. Let me shorten up question with do you get water temp, depth and 2 D sonar without using NMEA2k

@@willtorrez man I can't remember.. the reason for the nema2000 was controlling the TM from the console graph. The lowrance total scan transducer was mounted at the transom.. that gave me temp ect.. the garmin I'm installing there was not nema2000 and it's transducer was what I was mounting to the XI5..

This question doesn’t necessarily pertain to the video but I feel like you could answer it. I have an Xi3. What is the benefit of connecting my Garmin to my xi3. I’ll definitely mount my transducer on to the motor, and make use of the anchor feature and the other benefits of the trolling motor. But is there a real benefit of actually connecting the trolling motor to my garmin? Is it required for the features like recording a path and then going back over that path? Or gps?

As far as I know you can only "connect" to a Lowrance unit through the nema2000 for Xi5/Xi3... Not Garmin.. In ths vid ONLY the Garmin transducer is connected to the Garmin.. The TM itself is connected and can be controlled from the Lowrance unit at the dash.. Hopefully this answers your question.. Thanks for watching!

@@stephansmithoutdoors great! Thanks! So all of the features work with being connected to a unit bc it the xi3 has its own built in GPS, correct?

@@nathandaves3570 I only know the features available for an Xi5 relating to being used with a Lowrance unit that is networked appropriately.. Xi3 idk. If it comes with a nmea 2000 connection I would guess it would have the same capabilities.. Just spot lock alone doesn't necessarily mean it will work.. Mine would have a menu when connected with Lowrance and do functions such as "go to waypoint" ect.. And all the samethe s functions of remote control on the screen of the Lowrance..
