You can turn the screen timeout longer
Ot turn it to "on" .. And it will stay continuously on.

yes you can change Logo using Baofeng programming software and you can change scanning modes there are three modes in Menu item that shows SC-REV
the red meter is not meant to be an S-meter - it only shows full when you are correctly tuned to a station - like the "magic eye" on the the old tube radios, 73 Levi
You can adjust the screen time in menu.
Yes. I have it to never turn off. Battery seems good. Or the meter shows full when its not ? Lol . 😆 ive left it on for hours and it still shows full
Bought the UV17R and it came locked. I want an upgrade from my UV5R.
Did you buy the exact one I linked or did you buy one of the other ones that doesn't come with the extra antenna because the other ones are usually locked the tri-band one with the tri-band antenna was not locked but if you did buy that then please let us know that that was the one so that we can let everybody know that that one is now locked and not to buy it
@hamradiohack The one I received only had one antenna. I ordered directly off Amazon, not from any link. I didn't know there was one, I came here after receiving it. I noticed something was up when I couldn't transmit and it works just beep when holding the ptt. Ended up with the talkpod36plus
Does anyone know how to get a numerical reading of battery voltage on the UV-17R? Pressing "0" like on other Baofengs doesn't work. Thanks!

@@hamradiohack That's too bad because it's a handy feature on the other Baofengs. The tiny battery indicator on my UV-17R screen goes slowly to the halway point and then quickly to the "low voltage" audio message. It would be nice to have a numerical value for a more accurate reading. Thanks for the videos, btw!
can the uv17 transmit on 462/frs and 467/gmrs?
Yes this specific one will not all do. Depends on the firmware

It comes unlocked. If you ordered one that looks like it but doesnt have tri band antenna its probably locked

@@hamradiohack I have tribals antenna but not unlocked. Unlocked should be like uv5r. Can go on 900mhz and 300 mhz
@daltonkatiehall1888 the one in the link is unlocked. Many similar looking ones are firmware locked. If it did not come with the tri band antenna and it doesnt say abbree then its a different one. Did you order the same one i posted a link to?
