Thanks for the post! We've had our sleep# for almost 20 years. Before we got it, I had constant back pain. Nothing helped until this bed. I was shocked and amazed and very happy to wake up pain free. It sounds lame, but this bed was life changing for me. My wife likes a soft mattress and I need it firm. I'm always set to 95 - 100 and she's like at 40-60. I've used the warranty a few times. Once for a new pump. We had the wired remotes back in the day and the wires wore out after 12 years. They sent us a new pump with the wireless remotes. This was before they had an app. Another time I called them was to fix the sagging corners and replace the top at the 15 year mark. There's like a plastic reinforcement that keeps the corners from collapsing and I guess after 5,400 nights, things wear out. They sent a new zip on top and new reinforcements. Unfortunately the warranty is pro-rated so there was a price for the items that wear out or break. They replaced the parts, but it costs a little more every year that goes by. Now we're at about the end of the original 20 year warranty period (time flies!) and I'm thinking about a new SN bed with the adjustable base and all the bells and whistles we'd probably never use. Or we may use this one for another 5 years. But I don't really see any other alternatives to the Sleep Number, unless we do as @schedvl commented and sleep on an air mattress with a topper. I know these are slighted as an overpriced air mattress, but I don't care. I'd highly recommend this bed. Especially if you and your partner are needing different firmness levels to be comfortable. Thanks so much again for the post and the buying tips! Cheers!

I have had my sleep number for 20 years, this this morning I discovered my side was leaking. We bought the cheapest version we could and every couple of years throw a new mattress topper on it. The bed never changes, it is extremely consistent throughout its lifetime and to get 20 years with no sag is just incredible. I am definitely going to be looking for a new Sleep Number bed if I am outside of my warranty period as I am still on the old 20 year warranty.

My husband and I are 68. We bought our King Sleep Number when we moved into our new home 25 years ago. We just had our first problem and have a leaky mattress on my side.
I have had 7 spine surgeries and too many other surgeries to count and will have a hip replacement in a few days so obviously I need a comfy bed. My sleep preferences vary daily. My husband’s are very different so this bed has been perfect.
I appreciate your review as I have been talking about replacing everything but our base but cannot get that before surgery so we ordered a refurbished mattress for now.
I also watched your review of all mattresses as I wondered if we should consider something else, especially something that doesn’t require an electric pump. Also looking to replace another mattress in a vacation/rental home. Your info is helpful and well done👍🏻.

My problem with inner spring and memory foam mattresses are that they all eventually develop low spots over time. This is why I’m giving serious consideration to a sleep number bed, as you essentially never develop a low spot. When I had Covid, I was relegated to the basement, where I slept on an Aerobed inflatable mattress that I picked up at Costco, along with a foam mattress topper. It was the best two weeks of sleep I’ve ever had!

    • @robb.sutton

We had the same problem with our memory foam one as well. It felt good to start but didn't age as well.

"This is why I’m giving serious consideration to a sleep number bed, as you essentially never develop a low spot." outright lie.
I have 2 other family members and including myself we have bought 5 of these beds. I personally bought one because of the low spot issue causing insane amounts of lower back pain.
These beds ton't solve that. My bed lasted 3 years total. Spend your money elsewhere or at least get one with a warranty that they stand behind.
Sleep number sells you parts as needed at a pro-rate scale. This stupid thing has nickeled & dimed me to the point of insanity....and my sleep now is worse
than with a coil spring/trad bed.

    • @schedvi
      @schedvi Před 6 měsíci

@@colfrankslade I don’t own one, so I was making an assumption/guess about the low spot (not an outright lie, as you said). Sheesh…chill out. Didn’t know you were so butt hurt about your experience with the sleep number. I do appreciate the intel you’ve provided though (even though your response is angry and childish). Have a better day, sport.

@@schedviI have one and you were right it doesn't happen nor do I think it's physically possible for it to develop low spots. Ask the people who've owned them 10+ years and they will agree. I don't have a partner in bed but bought this same bed this guy has, the same 50% off. As a person who has never been able to find a consistently comfortable bed (until now) I would recommend it 100%. I used to wake up in b d drenching sweats but it hasn't happened since I bought this bed. Ignore the nutbag

Sleep number now charges for remotes. We find the remote is better than the phone app because we don't bring phones to bed. So we bought our 5th sleep number bed (bought for our kids through the years too) and had to pay for remotes. Great solution for couples!

Actually appreciate the review. I find allot of reviews wildy off topic, not informative or struggling to get to the points. We just bought the current iLE model because President's day. Had a friend give us a referral and that little gem gave us an additional 20% off the base plus the 50% off the mattress. Those savings alone made the iLE with the flex fit 2 base cheaper than a Purple Restore premier with base and a tempur-pedic with ergo base, by thousands. Two beds ago, we had what they call today a 'hybrid" foam and individually wrapped coils. Got a dead spot while under warranty only to have them reject the warranty. Bought an all foam mattress after that and loved it until our bodies changed. Husband had surgeries that made the firmness of that mattress no longer comfortable and mostly now painful to him. When you buy a foam or hybrid mattress, you are stuck with the firmness you bought. Sleep number offers the flexibility of making the bed adapt to our bodies in moments when weight changes or injuries change the need for comfort levels. So I am keeping my fingers crossed why I wait on my delivery to give the bed a test run.

I found the exact same thing. Especially if you move around at night (which I do that a lot more now too because it is harder to get comfortable)...the foam style mattresses were not only too stiff but they also react a lot slower. They are better for more still sleepers.

I had a TERRIBLE customer experience after ordering my bed. They missed their delivery window without any notice and just rescheduled me 12 days out. After going through several customer service reps I am at my wits end. Going to take a day and debate with my spouse if I need to cancel this deal entirely. Reading the other reviews here I am starting to lean in that direction.

What way did you go? What reviews made you start to change your mind? I've seen mixed reviews on customer service yet many glowing on comfort. I hurt my back in Afghanistan and need a bed where my shoulders don't roll forward (ad stiff as possible) else I wake up with my backpain at a 4/10. My soon to be wife wants to sleep on a cloud. I've been unable to find us a mattress other than sleep number which can give us both.

Good review. Thanks for being honest. I have had multiple surgeries and have some health issues like you. We already have adjustable bases (Twin XL). Realistically, will our bases work on a sleep number mattress? Cause I know they are going to say no, you have to use theirs. It's just we already purchased adjustable bases and I'm disabled. And from the looks of it, their bases are the price of a used car. Thanks for any guidance/advice you could offer.

This bed sucks! It wakes me up every time my wife moves…the frame rocks back and forth. The frame have flimsy feet and are loose. Poor engineering. The worst thing is you can’t return them. Sleep number employees are liars won’t disclose that the frame is not returnable. They will deceive you by telling you have 100 days to try the bed and guarantee a full refund if you don’t like the bed. Now we are stuck with this piece of junk!

Agree with that 100%. It's a really nicely sculptured finally made air bed, but at the end of the day that's exactly what it is. That said, being able to dial in a precise firmness is very helpful to a good night's sleep. What drives me bonkers is the company inserts all manner of electronic gizmos to measure your sleep. Hey folks, I know if I got a good night's sleep or not. Depending on how I feel in the morning. Spear me all the electronic crap; just give me a bed that I can adjust...

I am having extreme back pain and I injured my neck a few months ago and I have a queen size bed but it's just me. I bought a pillow top bed and it's already losing its support and I wonder if I should get a memory foam mattress or get this mattress? But based on the comments if sleep number has terrible customer service then I really don't want to deal with it.

Sorry about your experience. I so get your frustration. The bed is a great product. Unfortunately poor customer service and delivery issues are all too common everywhere.
See my comment above on my 25yo SN bed.
Think about it this way, do you want to go through buying a mattress frequently or infrequently because it’s not really convenient or cheap. Just saying.
We own lots of mattresses (9 to be exact) in our homes. I prefer my 25yo SN to them all. I am “The Princess and The Pea” sleeper too😂!
      Good luck 🍀
