the character is brave and ambitious. the only trait he miss is either stubborn or stupid if he thinks sailing from Iceland to India is a good thing to do.

I love how you found a random Irish lad, forced him to covert, and the second he agrees he is appointed Godi and now has to act as a religious leader to a system he's been a part of for less than a year. Clan Ui Briaian must be like "I have no idea how I got this job and at this point, I'm too afraid to ask questions."
Haha yeah.
We Irish happily worked with the Norse, we loved a good war even back then but it was usually fighting ourselves.

You'll definitely want to do at least one dynasty unlock in Pillage because Making a Killing is really good and once you've picked up the first rank of a tree, you can unlock more of it even if you change your culture, so that way you can keep it after going with your hybrid culture.

One more thing, double check your prisoners stats before you ransom them off. Also get all the unmarried women (or men if you can have female courtiers/knights). Might be better to force them to join you. Great way to get more knights (which BTW you got distracted after calling for more knights and missed the notification for at least 2 experienced fighters).
It was today that i realised (after looking a Iceland for a while) that the 4 counties on Iceland just mean North land, West Land, South land and east land.

This is awesome, I was longing for some more lionheart ck3 vids. I learned about the mini-flavor pack they did recently with the Canary Islands and thought that would make for an awesome series. They now have a unique culture and religion and a decision to form a kingdom.
You should not only take back Iceland but get every territory you took and then left in your quest

Pillage is amazing. Just raid, raid, raid and watch as you become richer than the Pope. Especially the one where you swim in gold the more you kill on the battlefield.
Why am I seeing so many people saying "I'm so glad your back to CK3, I've waited so long" when it's only been a couple of months(at the time this video came out at least) that he had finished the last series? With the fact that it sounds like he moved and got married that seems awfully short to me, I guess I am just more patient than them!
Did this kind of run aswell, but I grabbed the Tamil duchy of Pandya first, since it's so highly developed

I would say adventure and take some of law so when you get over to India you’ll have an easier time converting, if not keeping a better public order.
When raiding you keep trying to run away to the sea. It takes much longer to go from land to sea then land to another land tile
Excellent stuff mate. Instead of spending your renown looking for more knights, check your captured prisoners, recruit them, then throw them a tiny bit of gold, and then ask them to convert, which will give you a huge modifier positive opinion of you. More efficient then constantly swaying or gifting or calling more knights
* in that order, if you ask for the recruitment,conversion, at the same time it drops the negative opinion modifier too. Also it's best to constantly keep raiding as you lose prestige while while not raiding. I would also go for the crown and regnum crafting first as those will always give you a +renown modifier, which will be the biggest bottleneck
A good tactic for vikings when planning to conquer territory is to raid the area beforehand. Best case scenario they try and fight you and you wipe them out, otherwise the extra cash and prestige is a good way to get the extra resources for the war of conquest.
When you're raiding it's quicker to move across counties to escape your enemies rather than embarking to sea- also, before you finish raiding, you can que your next moves (you don't have to wait to finish your raid to start to move)
I've noticed that the chaplains tend to show as 0 until you unpause for the first time, and then they get a lot of knowledge ability.

Anyone else playing or plan on playing Viking ruler, their is 3-4 raidable places on the east/south coast of England that have special interaction/ choices with them. One of the spots had 69gold as loot. Also a couple on the French coast further south. So far the Viking ruler start has been my favorite.

The letter "ð" is pronounced like the "th"-sound in "them". Your English "th"-sounds are (of course) something the vikings left around in England for you to pick up.
Ooh! BTW the letter "Å" in modern day Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish ... You actually pronounce it perfectly when you say "oh", Lionheart. You actually go like "ååoh". So keep the sound short, and you have the "Å"-sound (at least in Danish!)! ;)

once you get to egypt/ethiopia, you have to jump to the eastern part of arabian peninsula in order to reach india.
Even the island on the far east of Africa isnt close enough to the maldives.
maybe if you have something that increases diplomatic range it might make it possible.
Raid places who are at war also helps since they’ll be to busy to fight your raiders

I am realizing I have no clue how combat works in this game, I have like 3x the units the enemy has and I get wiped and you're there with half the units as the enemy and winning
The combat is so complex man, my advise is don’t use auto, assign your men at arms and commanders based on terrain perks that match the current terrain your in and then use that terrain to your advantage by picking your battlegrounds.
Some men-at-arms counter others. That and how good your commander is and what his traits are also matter. One last thing is terrain bonuses. For example crossing a major river and attacking defenders in a mountain will give your army huge penalties.

Why does he need to do VA? Isn't it easier to just take the furthest county and hop all the way to India? Then just make all the counties independent rulers when you get to India.
You get the adventurer trait from VA which is such a good trait

Also if you capture territory the enemy lord controls directly when enforcing demands that you did not start the war for you can keep them.

Maybe I don't understand the mechanics but I hate the way movement is so much quicker for the AI. Always seems when I'm trying to move they always catch me.
Is this game Crusaders Kings 3 worth the buy?, ive been putting it off for awhile
It is if you like these types of games. If you never played any of these games before it does have a learning curve however. It's not as extreme as in Crusader kings 2 but it will take some time to learn all the little systems.
If your wife does not give you an Heir, ID keep her for her stats, you can use concubines for children if necessary
You often leave your courtiers unmarried, is there a reason? I find it as a great way to bring characters with good stats into your court as well as grow your own court via their kids
Usually just busy with other management elements. I normally have a look through when I need a new councillor or champions however.

Game worth it?
you don't need to do varangian adventures while traveling to india, if you did every succeeding varangian adventure becomes more costly. May i suggest just invade county then on to the next , from ireland, maybe take a county in brittany, then napoli or sardinia, then crete, then maybe sudan , yemen, then sri lanka, just a suggestion though
Tried that, wont work after a while as you get too stretched and constant wars stop you advancing. This is way more fun to do.

I didn’t want to do an Icelandic conquest all the way over to India, felt the Varangian adventure was a far more interesting way to role play a great Viking Saga of adventure across the world.

I saw you stumble on an "ð" in a name, and you'll be seeing a lot of these in this playthrough, I think.
Treat the following as a "th" and you should be close enough: Ð, ð, Þ, þ. (upper/lower case pairs, there's a slight difference between eth and thorn, but nobody is going to care :P)
