    If they are not being regularly worked and chosen to breed because of their prowess in the field then they will soon become a pale shadow of the dogs they were bred to be. Exactly what has happened to a number of terrier breeds and other gundogs, such as Golden Retriever and some Setters. Like show labs, bred for visual characteristics that rendered them to large and less athletic with greatly diminished enthusiasm.
