I’ve watched a few detail videos that recommend using an O3 generator for smells in car interiors. Bought one for our suv and used it about 3 times to get the cigarette smoke smell. I think it oxidizes whatever is causing it.
The best way to remove it is to have your HVAC system deodorized. If they ran the heater or AC when they were smoking in the car it's definitely going to come back despite how much cleaning you do to the interior. The headliner will be a big one too, need to be removed potentially and any of the insulation/sound deadener needs to be cleaned or replaced including under the carpet. Steaming will be best before replacing any of the carpet or padding.
U do NOTTT have to remove the headliner and carpet….

I don’t care if you hot boxed that bitch the night before and shut the windows with all the smoke lingering inside. A few hours of sun does amazing things to smoke smell but the key is windows cracked now you know 😉

You should install BMS air intakes for the S58. I put them on my G82, and the air induction noise sounds insane lol
My pickup had a slight smell of cigarettes and I used a Meguiars Air ReFresher and it worked really good.

Use ozium spray for the cig smell, spray and leave the windows up for a few hours, then put in an air freshener
you could try to use a Meguiars air re-fresher bomb if that smell comes back to deoderize the whole car

Super sexy had a e46 for years showed her worked on her etc went to the bmwcca shows good to join the bmw cca cause you meet others with BMWs and can get parts etc if needed always good .

There is no 'fixing' the smell you describe in the interior of your newly purchased BMW.
Only way to fix it would be to pull the headliner, the seats, the carpet, door panels, all porous materials in the interior of the car and dispose of them. Then you have to pull the instrument panel and disinfect all ducting. You have to replace the interior of the car to get rid of the smell. You can't put your seats, head liner and door panels and carpeting in the washing machine. No ozone machine will remove the smell.
Generally car enthusiasts make this mistake 'only once' and never buy a used cars again without thoroughly evaluating the odor of the interior.
I have even made this mistake years ago and I am an automotive engineer. Yes, some people have sh_t for brains, smoke cigarettes, cigars and dope in high end cars. Look, they were rewarded. You fell for it and bought the car. My guess is you will flip this BMW shortly. Hot days are the worst.
