Present day Pakistan, and that area used to be part of a Hellenistic Greek state, and a major silk road trade center. In fact there are records that the Greek state of Bactria was established before Alexander marched to India. Hello, I do not want to ruin anything for anyone but North Indians might as well be closer to "Ham" than Dravidians. Ancient Dravidian tribes held some similarities in overall in appearance with Africans but they were not genetically closely related. They were among the earlier peoples to move out of Africa so naturally their genetics became very different. People of Indian continent are a mixture of the descendents of all three sons of Noah Shem Ham and Japeth. This mixture happened over thousands of years. There is an ancient book of Jewish traditions that says that the Gypsies were a part of the larger group of non-Jews who left Egypt with the Israelites. Majority of Indian DNA components is IVC i.e Indus valley civilization in fact it's almost 60% of Indian genetic component neither dark AASI not White steppe people.

There are some words in the Romani language that can be either directly associated with or are of a particular North Indian language. For example at a specific time in India’s history there was word used for a soldier around the area of rajasthan that is the same word used by the Romani.
There are many other words which the Roma people use that can be directly associated with words from North Indian dialects from a very specific time in history which gives an even in-depth timeline of where and when they began to leave the Indian subcontinent

I always was confused on why there was so many different skin toned gypsies when most I've seen in media was usually brown or dark skinned. I am an Indian. From south India, India has a lot of romans in ancient times when there was a road from Rome to India, Portuguese in Kerela and Goa, Japanese Sean railway route took South Indians Malaysians, Srilankans as workers and then forced them as slaves.
