Hi guys I’m a disabled veteran I have 1980 Corvette kind of a hobby thing. My speedometer reads 100 when I’m doing 50 learning a lot from Ben and you guys. Thanks Al
Finished restoring my wife’s since new 79 Corvette so l love watching how you find all these weird MacGyver fixes people did in the past.. I was lucky enough to know the history but here in Canada our issue was rusted parts, rear end shims melted together!
Your videos are terrific. The fact that you've been able to combine your passion with technical expertise makes me jealous as hell. Keep at it! Only thing I would do is look around for a decent used steam pressure washer, the kind used to clean truck engines, tractors and farm equipment, so you could blast all the crud off the engines, drivetrains, frame components and drum brakes before wrenching. Having worked on industrial machinery I really hated having to work in accumulated crud that could have been easily removed if I had one of them. All the guts of your '59 Merc sure could have used it. Press on!
It is amazing how much there is to know just to properly fix a door! Looks like Bubba found his way inside that poor door, I'm glad he didn't mess up the engine compartment, nice to see one that is stock/unmolested. I have often wondered just what triggers that "gen" light, seems like there is more to it than just low battery voltage...
GM as a group started cheaping out anywhere they could in the late 1970's. My 1975 Camaro had bolt in window regulators but later on my wife's 1979 Buick Skyhawk had riveted in ones that I had to replace it when it went bad.
Sense of accomplishment and satisfaction of a job well done, experience and learned mechanics equals trouble shooting know how, busted knuckle garage wins again!
Rivets. After I had to drill them out twice to repair window regulators in my '96 MB S600, I, too, got religion and started using small bolts. Also good illustration of production engineering/economies between MB and the General.
Cant tell you how much of your vids helped with me with my 1979! But could please do an interior wiring video? Which wires go where(stereo, speaker, ac, gauges, etc.) Thank you and Keep up the great work/videos!
Ben I got an 81 Corvette and the passenger side of the hood got a bigger gap then the other side how do I adjust it??? Thank you Ben for any help you can give..
love your vids and your passion..seen on gram your a new daddy...congrats...maybe he will fallow in daddy's footsteps. of all your vids theirs only one that i wondered if you caught it...the silver vette, your fixed the headlight doors ..did you see that the headlights was in sideways? unless there some different ones that i know about.. lol and would like to come down and teach you how to backyard paint...lol again thank you for doing all the great vids, love watching them and don't let the nae Sayers get to you, you be Ben. like to be your friend on FB if you still do that...don't know your name on there try ed the corvette Ben and nothing showed up. i will check back on this post.. thanks JIm up in snowohio.
Hey Ben, I'm a new subscriber to your channel. After 35 years of wanting it, I finally bought a 78 c3...this is my first vette and I dont know alot about them. I have learned so much from watching your videos. I have noticed some stuff on this one that I know isn't correct. I was wondering if you could hook me up with somewhere that would have good images of the front accessory area of the engine. My power steering pump is cockeyed and the pulley is actually rubbing on the frame. I'm not sure if it is the wrong one, or maybe one of the other pulleys are bubbafied...any help you could give would be appreciated...thanks!
Hi, do you guys know what different there is on before early -74 and late -74 windows? I have an -79 that we are trying to find windows to. But here in Sweden we only find -73 windows. Do you know if they fit on a -79? / Regards Falk
@@TheCorvetteBen A big thanks for the replay! The reason I thought they were different, was when I looked at the different "online shops" the windows was always sorted from -74 early and -74 late. But when looking at specs they all looked the same.. -- Regards Falk
It could easily be fixed, its just one hole. It is a HUGE process to gut everything from the door and then add it to another, then align and match paint
Hey bro. I need a set of T-tops for a 1980 Vette I just picked up to work on my channel. Do you have a set? You can email me @ autoauctionrebuilds at g mail
I love your channel! I just sold my last set (78-82) but have many other parts that will fit your car. Also, if you need any help feel free to message me anytime. benjamin.friend56@yahoo.com
jesus with how bad some of these corvettes are and how much bubba you find in them I'm surprised you dont have a corvette evaluation service that people could hire you for. Could even call it Corvette Ben's Hooptie service really, make sure you dont buy a hooptie today!

Great fixes. Some people's repairs! More damage than good in the long run. I know it's cold in Texas (below 50) , but we need more videos.
GREAT VIDEO AS USUAL. LOVE YOUR C3 CLIPS. TAKE CARE.
Yay, another awesome Ben video!
It helps to have a parts stash. :) Nice work on that regulator. That lock actuator is some bubba-fied stuff!
Finally a new Corvette video! :)

As a marine veteran, like your lid!
Love you hat Ben.
I recently bought a new horn button assembly and I was wondering what should I use to flare the rivets?
Waiting for the next Oldsmobile video. Clicking 'close' this one :-)
Need a manual window video. Where to find the gear that meshes with the regulator gear ??
Boy Ben, That was a tease!

Hey Ben, do you have and how much for a set of corvette seat tracks, C3 type. Thanks.
How do you change the alternator belt on a 1977 corvette
Hi Ben, will you be buying some older junkers to fix up again? I really enjoyed the Olds being rehabbed.
Come on Roger.... stop paying rent and buying groceries. We need Corvette videos!
Exactly! Why shouldn't he be like the rest of us!

All windows are the same from 68-82. Only differences are coupe vs convertible windows

cool
The dim Gen lights on the SI series alternator is caused by a bad diode trio.
I dont know why somebody cuf the door and ran speaker white for door locks but I'll bet you he had a mullet and a yard boss mustache.
Think they used rivets because of safety in case of side impacts. Bolts snap. Rivets can bend.
First! Cool video Ben.
Ben, were you in the Marines?
No, but my father and one of my brothers were/are marines.
Cool! Semper Fi to them! Keep up the good work!
The generator not charging should have showed up on the battery gauge in the instrument cluster
Where is Noodle ?
Given how trashy that door is wouldn't it be better to replace it with a better one? There's got to be something available even that old.
It could easily be fixed, its just one hole. It is a HUGE process to gut everything from the door and then add it to another, then align and match paint
What's THE CONDITION
