We pretty much have the same Builds as in Season 4 but only weaker as the NEW stuff feels very underwhelming & also gets nerfed with the Key passive. I have all classes with decent gear at level 100, Anyone who played any class outside Barb knows how broken this class is/was especially the Gushing Woonds Passive. So this will be healthy for the game that the Barb will be brought down to the ground and others will be buffed to maybe meet in the middle of this huge massive gap we have. They couldn't buff everything to Barb level because one-shooting 200 Uber-Bosses was just stupid so it was obvious that at some point they'd finally nerf this broken class.
- Guttural Yell - 27 ranks = 108% DR from all! for 5s per shout. With 3 shouts and reduced CDs, this can be used permanently. - Martial Vigor - 27 ranks = 108% DR from elites! It had to be removed because any other class had such tempers e.g. Druid can't temper IronFur, Vigilance, or Heightened Senses. This was totally unfair and just another reason Barb is so broken and so OP. So instead of adding tempers to others, they decided to remove it from Barb. Good call!
Blizzard decided to skimp on the budget for a competent math guy. The state of the underlying math is beyond a joke. Then they come in with class changes like this, demonstrating their complete disconnect from what actually needs to happen.
Blizzard have the same problem that Bungie have, they both do exactly the same when it comes to "balancing" I remember in Destiny when Hawkmoon, Thorn and The Last Word hand cannons were meta and rly good Bungie rather than balancing them they just made them completely useless so people stopped using them alltogether. Blizzard does this every season something is good and fun, ruin the build so it is useless, did you enjoy hota? Guess what? It's garbage, did you enjoy ball lightning? Garbage, did you enjoy pets on necro? A class that historically works around minions, guess what? Garbage aswell.
Everybody knew Gushing Wounds needed a nerf. But nerfing Unconstrained and the other capstone passives was a nerf to mostly only casual builds. What a bummer.
I can understand where you're coming from. I play sorc and this will be the first time I've been excited for a season. I don't know enough about the barb to understand everything but can't deny that some of the changes don't make sense. I still think that there's a good chance that some builds from different classes will do better than expected. Hopefully if they did over-tune (all classes) up or down that they will do a good mid-season patch.

I was expecting massive nerfs to barbarian and buffing all other classes to compensate for fewer weapon slots. Was surprised by the random nerf to an underperforming passive such as walking arsenal, even when the items and builds for this passive are already so few. It seems to me that they are shifting more of the character power to the gear, so they might compensate some of these nerfs in the uniques and aspects. Either way, since the iron maelstrom build still don't look viable, I guess this will be a rogue season for me.

Coming from a player that has played pretty hardcore this season i also played first season and the season of blood but skipped last season. This season I have 3 level 100 characters Barbarian bash build rogue heartseeker and necro bone spear originally but switched to bone spirit. I have not once ever felt like I was overpowered I have a decent build just unlucky with greater aspects and tempering. I’m so fucking sick of nerfs stop nerfing anything let people enjoy the game it’s mainly pve anyways. I put hundreds of hours this season and I have all the Ubers available for the classes I have. And I’m still only doing tier 114 pits with only 2 of the characters my necro has basically no survivability I’m doing 500 million hits but that does nothing if you can’t survive. They need to make it easier to change builds like have a tab because it’s bullshit and so much work to try and build out just to realize it’s not viable keep this shit up blizzard and no one will play. I love the game and just want to have fun.
HotA was already crap this season, without Gushing Wounds not even on Sorc level. Now it's even worse while every other class got a ~30% buff at least.
Have you played d3? And items granting 30000% dmg, 16 tiers of dificulty, with 16 being easy like helltide now and dmg numbers being so big that they had to shorten them to 15T instead of 15 000 000 000 000 000? Thats why
@@Conflict125 Yep I did, so with that in mind would you rather not hitting big numbers with min/maxed gear and struggle to get pit 100+ done when it's the best build/gear? Or would you like to blast through content? I personally want to see insane damage number and to blast through content over a lukewarm damage build. That's my 2 cents on the topic

Blasting end game like its nothing is boring af to me and dont see reason to play if killing top enemies in a game is looking like killing lvl 10 random bears outside the city
Welcome to being literally any other class in the game. This is how playing other classes feel. While some of the nerfs were silly, barb had ALL of the power and NONE of the detriments. Sorcs can give up ALL survivability for damage and still tickle the enemies

I'm just gonna say that thw company obviously catering to casual audiences by constantly buffing barb and making them do insane amounts of damage with like 1 attack so I get it. The only thing this has done is make the playerbase irritated with them tho. Now we finally have a patch where the underperformed classes got much needed buffs and they DIDNT buff the top classes like they've been doing. Again some of the nerfs were silly like 2qlking Arsenal, but barb still gonna be doing hundreds of millions cause 4 weps.

Every Barbarian main in the comment section saying they are skipping season 5 is pathetic. Every class apart from the Rogue has been suffering badly. The Barbarian power level had to come down for the health and longevity of the game. But they are so selfish and only have short term vision. Even after all of these nerfs, I guarantee you that the Barbarian is still the strongest class in the game.
I hope Blizzard doesn’t take it wrong but I’m going to not play/barely play s5 bc summer, work, life, not necessarily bc d4 odd season bad it just works out like that 🤷♂️
They put a cap on fun in season 5. I am one of those who are not excited about it. I'll probably do the bare minimum to complete the season pass and call it a season probably as a sorc. Devs are so bad. It's nothing new that they over nerf builds Into unplayable rather then balancing.
Is Blizzard's idea to balance the classes just gut the barbarian then add uniques that sorta help recover some damage? Then forcing barbs to sacrifice aspect slots for uniques for a faux balance?
It's the only thing that seems to make any sense. Blizzard said it before, that they want to create endgame excitement for Barbs via the Unique items. I still think they messed up big time, but I have a sliver of hope until I've seen all Unique item reworks.
Bleed WW gutted by GW nerf, but otherwise should be decent if you're willing to maybe use Unconstrained and dust devils as the main source of damage. Possibly pair it with Deathblow for killing bosses which is where WW often sucks.
honestly what all this means its just that barbs will have to grind and try just as hard as the other classes in the game. now days most of barb players are use to just putting a temper at lvl 35 and be ready till lvl 100 and beyond. barbs are deff not dead just not as braindead as they were for season 2,3 and 4. i think that most barb users want to hit for bilions of damage without having to work for it. I aways start the season with another class, then make a alt barb, and all the work for 2-3 weeks to max any other character i can surpass it with 2-4 good days with barb. this nerfs were needed and it should have been sooner. I fell like either this or they should just make that the barb (and rogue's) should only get the bonus weapon for the curent weapon they're using on the skill, just like all the other clsases.
I definitely agree with this. When he mentioned in the video that now they'll need to balance survivability and damage my thoughts were - "welcome to every other class's Diablo 4 experience".
It's complete bullshit. 1. The barbarian always chooses a balance between life and damage at different stages of the game (more life in leveling and more damage in endgame) 2. fully-equiped barbarian requires x2 more time: more weapons, more unsuccessful temperings, more pit runs, higher cost of gear, you play in a non-bis gear and hope that you can get some better thing and replace the old one. i played other classes (4 necro builds, 2 rogue, 1 sorc, 2 druid): all of them were good for "usual" players (2 weeks in season). Endgame content for 5-10% of d4 players, so wata fuck are developers and players for other classes so worried about the damage of the barbarian in the endgame?

Druids have gotten little to no love for four seasons now, it makes sense that we have a single season that is not barbarians doing 1000x damage more than any other build combined with the best survivability. Also, nobody is going to empathize with the need to do more grinding to fill your other weapon slots. At least you have other weapon slots 😂

@@fernandocortesdemonroy7520 you're definitely right.... But the barbs had like 7 builds pushing over 100 and at least 3 over 140 while druids were fighting for their lives to get one around 125 XD. I had to spend about 1/10th the time to build a barb that could kill tormented duriel than I had to spend to get a druid who could.
Same I’m on Xbox and it’s basically not worth the effort for the 35 dollars. I really believed them when they said they were buffing all the classes to reach Barb power not shitting on us again this is flashback to the day one super nerfs to ww. This dev team just pisses me off

As someone who doesn't play barb much, I agree that nerfing core skills makes no sense. The barb is already not fun to level with prior to level 35-40. It takes awhile to find the dust devil thing to feel fun, since it wasn't in a dungeon this season. Well, at least Barbs will feel like the way Sorcs have felt for 3 seasons lol.
Yes, they promised boost weaker class, not nerf working which is capable to run high tier pits. I think that Bash Barb was not broken, its DPS was okay for the end-game content which was and is in S4. I also do not understand, why they lied again about the balance.
Do you think the other classes will be superior to the barb after those nerfs or are they on par? Did you want a massive buff to the others so barbs fould stay the way they are in s4 or even get a buff? You are right about the key passives nerf... it doesn't change which skills you use. It's pretty dumb.
Nerfing Walking Arsenal just again proves to me that Blizzard doesn't play or understand their own game. I'm not holding my breath with the new unique changes either considering the ones they have shown us are still underwhelming. I'm getting tired of making different builds with different classes only for them to be nerfed into the ground with a new season.
This is looking like the healthiest the game has been in, in terms of class balancing. Barbs have been the strongest character in the game since season 2 by a drastically large margin compared to the rest of the classes, 2 different key passes being able to give you guys 100x multiplicative key passives with 4 weapon slots was more than ridiculous.
Barbs def should have a bit of an advantage in both defense and offense from the fact that they're almost exclusively melee, mostly defense because of the exponential nature of exposure to damage and the fact that you have to move to a location to do damage which i think they had about overdone in S4, but those nerfs are silly. If i'm going to do more damage afar, i'm just going to play a ranged class personnally.
Bricking items was bad enough. And now we got this. Why do we even have tempering if they are capping everything. Before season 1 they said no major nerfs and that they don't have 2 teams. Maybe just remove tempering or barb altogether.
I dont really mind the nerfs (except for Walking Arsenal, which doesnt make any sense since it hasnt seen any play since... forever). What I do mind is the lack of hype. There's literally nothing new for barb in season 5. Unless they introduce crazy new skills, or paragons, or items which havent been present in the PTR, then we're gonna play the same old boring builds we've played before... and we're gonna do less damage. Cool.
About this time last year, they had that terrible nerf patch. This patch feels the same to me. Some nerfs sure but they went overboard. I had planned on playing a ww/bleed build that I haven't played since the preseason. Now I don't know if I will play much this upcoming season. I mainly play rogue, sorc or barb and I just played sorc season 4 so I might play a rogue but not feeling hyped about it. Edit (looks like I'll have to play d2r for a decent barb build a for a few months.)
Most of the nerfs seem fine, but I do agree some are weird like walking arsenals. More than likely barb is going to fine, and will still have strong builds, and I won't be surprised if it somehow becomes on of the top classes again lol. Honestly it's fine if barb isn't at the top for one season, it's been pretty much number one since release lol.
They need to completely redo th barb keypassives except for brawling. Walking Arsenal / Ub Rage otherwise 2/4 of the barb key passives will never be used. Half of the core skills augments need to be thrown out too.
I was gonna play deathblow barb but with unbridled rage nerfed I don't think so, imma swap to playing sorc on launch and then make a barb when I am done with it.
Tbh the numbers from billions to millions still envy some classes in D4. Barb will still be top tier above all other classes. I would like that Blizzard do a number crunch that 1 million would be the highest damage you could do...

While the nerfs seem a bit overtuned, if we have learned 1 thing since launch it is that not matter what nerfs Barb gets, there will always somehow be an OP build found in the first 2-3 Weeks of Season :D. So -> don't loose hope yet
The most important question is this: will barb be more fun in season 5 than it was in season4? If the answer is no,the devs failed at their jobs for the season. If it is more fun we all win.
I was looking forward to the deathblow build as a core skill. Im surprised the key passives got nurfed that hard. All the nerfs are a bit of a disappointment.
I think the developers dont really play their own game, but I could be wrong. However, im certain that the Diablo 4 community has players like Rob who spend a lot of time analyzing and calculating things. I believe they could collaborate with the developers to come up with ideas to steer the game in a positive direction. It would be beneficial for the developers to communicate with key figures within the community.
What about a lucky hit build? Maybe frenzy. Scaling fire and cold with the updated unique, Azurewrath, doombringer, fire aspect while berserkin, andariel etc. full attack speed build with lucky hit triggers. Probably more than I mentioned.
They need to fire the odd season team. Some nerfs are justified like to Gushing Wounds but what the heck is the logic behind the other nerfs? I would love to see them explain that one. Completely braindead.

Yeah some of the nerfs are just kind weird, like walking arsenal doesn't make much sense since it was recently buffed. Barbs did 100% need to brought down though. And more than likely barb is going to honestly be fine and I won't be surprised if some busted build come about in s5 for barb.
Here's the logic: "We nerfed the best key passive and people are gonna gravitate to the next best one, let's make them all shit so people have more fun making decisions about which one to take." And yes, you're right it's completely braindead lmao

This is exactly what i said. Also unbridled fury nerf was so insane to me. There are very few builds that actually use it to any success. And now those builds will be complete dumpster-tier. ":D" Barbarians core skills are already bad. The damage comes from all the additional effects. Now unbridled fury basically made it so no core builds are good, ever. Man i can't wait for PoE2. PoE1 wasn't for me but as it is now, it seriously feels like blizzard has 0 clue how to actually balance or even design their game. They don't seem to understand "why" certain classes just don't work. They are just doing blanket buffs/nerfs which don't help the fact that the "best builds" will remain as such - they are just nerfing all the other builds. On top of this they are just capping everything not at all realizing that this hurts the game balance EVEN MORE. The difference between classes was already bad but the builds WITHIN THE CLASSES THEMSELVES IS ABSOLUTE DOGSHIT. Seriously the core skills need to be doubled in scaling.

Skipping this season! I doubt i'll get the expansion either at this rate. I am happy for Sorcs, but with this dev team you have to wonder how long the joy will last? @@jd-hv2qe because barb was quite literally leaps and bounds ahead of basically every other class, outside of unfun gimmicky stuff like sorc perm flame shield. Other classes did need to be brought up but barb also needed to be brought down a bit as well.
I like these changes... honestly, i was afraid D4 was getting close to D3 already in terms of power creep. Hitting for billions isn't fun. And we have to see how the item changes are going to affect builds. I remember in S2 people saying barb would be C tier and ended up being the strongest class.
Barb didn’t have the highest pit clear, or the quickest 1-100 (I think it was 2nd), and most good builds can kill tormented bosses in 10-30 seconds. I’m not evening opening the game up season 5 and I hope the other barb mains do the same thing that’s the only thing that will show them these changes were too much just like the nerfs on day 1.

Yes barb had the highest pit clear. You are counting a mekuna sorc build which was literally bugged and the only reason he got higher was because he was fishing for a boss that spawns minions so the shatter bonus would actually do damage. If there was no shatter (It's patched now btw) That sorc build wouldnt even be clearing pit 120. Barb literally had 4 builds easily doing pit 140+. Not to mention they do this while taking 0 damage. Now the builds lose 1.5x damage and they cry about it. Most druid and sorc builds are barely even in tier B while barb had 4 tier S builds. Pen shot and victimize rogue were also bugged so if you remove all the bugged builds Barbs are the only classes in S tier.
@@Ironclad6661 Barb was 10x baseline stronger than any other class. The only classes competitiing with barb were bugged builds from sorc and rogue. Flay, Bash, thorns, WW were all much better.
15:24 easy: - I am proud, they included the function for setting teleport points and I can link them in the command wheel. I dont have to open the map, scroll to the whisper tree, click on the teleport anymore. Sometimes 2 to 3 times, because in helltide spawned massive monsters waves. - I can temper now magicfind, goldfind, greater pick up radius for example. Hurray, more individuell funbuilds. - I can click on the picture of teammate and can teleport directly to him. - I can safe now builds and dont need several chars. - There is a lootfilter. I can say, only items with up to 1GA will drop, the rest is mats or gold. S5 will bring so much more quality for the players. It would be a shame, when after more than 1 year they need to balance the classes massivly and that also in a bad way. They did such a great job. They learned a lot from the past, when they released diablo 2 and 12 years later Diablo 3. 😂

Wow, when Rob is not all sunshine and positivity, this spells barb funeral for Season 5 (and on the eternal server). Agree with not nerfing a class and raising all of the other classes for balance philosophy. Gonna sit out of the upcoming short season.
People complain about not wanting that D3 power creep, why not? That’s what I loved about D3 was playing absolutely busted builds every season, if they are going to continue to add harder content it needs to scale with it, so nerfing everything isn’t the solution bring all the classes to the same level don’t nerf, buff! I have a feeling the spirtborn is going to be utterly broken because the Devs don’t even play their own game. Maybe one day blizzard will just let us have broken builds and leave them alone.
After playing Season 4, I thought the game was finally heading in the right direction with buffs and letting players enjoy different builds and classes. I get that some classes, like Druids, needed some love, but it feels like they've mostly nerfed things instead of balancing them out. In the end, it doesn't matter if a class is stronger or weaker as long as the gameplay feels balanced with the new power levels. But it doesn't seem like there were enough changes to justify the huge nerfs. It's a bit disappointing to see these decisions made without enough explanation. I really hope they release more information on their reasoning and that the game isn't taking two steps back after such an important step forward. 😕
@@Damesanglante What do you mean by "overturned"? Are you saying we should lower the Barbarian's options instead of boosting other classes to its level? Or do you think it's overpowered in mid to endgame content? It seems like you just see Barb bash and think, "That's not fair." I'd rather see other classes get better and have more diverse builds to match the Barbarian in Season 4. Nerfing less-used Barbarian builds makes them even less viable in mid to endgame content, which limits player options. Games often adjust power levels, but without explaining their reason, we don't know what's intended. That's my point. Add to the game, don't take options away.

Can someone please help me understand Gushing Wounds calculations that Rob does ? Im trying to undestand the game better, and I have no idea how he arrived at that 34x nerf. I get how he arrived at his multiplier on live server, though according to my calculation it should not be 62,66x but rather 64,87x == ([4873,8*1,4]/100 + 1)*0,937 But I have absolutely no idea how he arrived at 1,84x multiplier given this patch notes, help please. Thx
@@GitGoodGaming I'm a thorns barb I did the math they nerfing rumble glyph which made leap quake thorns good, by -220%x need to imposing presence and removing imposing presence temper bring your average thorns down 100k and your top end thorns base damage down 200k so you are doing 130k less base x 295% less damsge with all buffs respectively so your build much like mine got in half and then divided by 3 so good luck mate

100% agree. Much like season 1 I will be starting the season with a different class when my traditional main has always been Barbarian. I was excited to see buffs to the other classes however I was under the impression no nerfs to barb outside gushing wounds adjustment and hemorrhage node being capped. Very disappointing; basic skill builds incredibly boring. At least we had one season where spin 2 win was back after farming numerous uber uniques. Sorc and rogue/druid sound most fun to play this season
in this case, I don't see any point in playing season 5 for myself, much less buying an add-on for 90 bucks. I just feel sorry for my time on the farm uber of unique items.
This is why I don't pre-order anything - especially from Blizzard. If it stays remotely like this I'm sitting it out. I want balance not knee jerk nerfs and changes that dramatically effect entire classes. They need to focus on what makes barb and other classes fun with multiple build options and set them all to the same level.
They've tried to nerf Barb since launch and failed, so I don't think these changes will amount to much once you factor in all the new aspects and items.
Going to say this every time. Blizzard does not thoroughly understand how their stats and dmg and abilities interact and scale. Game is already numerically disgusting and out of control. Bosses with TRILLIONS of HP requiring builds that hit billions upon billions is just dumb. We are already seeing dmg numbers close to season 25+ of D3 and we are barely a year into the games life. Damage and multipliers etc need a complete overhaul.
I feel next season, even with the sorc buffs, Druid and rogue will have top clears. PS, I’m sorry whatever my main class is, blizzard nerfs it. Season 2,3, and 4 sorc was my main. I tried barb for the first time this season and thought maybe i might be a barb main now. But I will probably be a rogue or Druid main for next season so expect them to get some big nerfs going into season 6.

Tbh, until they add reset option on tempering,I'm going to lay off D4. Tired of wasting days, trying to get perfect triple greater affix item,and then brick it with tempering. And that is even with using Pity temper mechanic. 9 times it rolled wrong skill,in row. That is bull. They added reset on master working,they can add it to tempering.
Season 4 was great for barb. Probably my favorite build so far. Spin to win felt so great. Instead of nerfing why don’t they make barb the goal to get the other classes up to. It’s so sad. Fun=nerf. This is an arpg we want to be able to smash things. Why take the fun out of it. Why?!?!
I think it's to be expected that there's not much to be excited about for barbarian. Barbarian has been the best class to play pretty much since the launch of Diablo 4. Each other class has been losing fan bases for months now which naturally means that the devs should want to focus on the other classes and not barbarian for a season to get everybody else caught back up. Definitely not fun for barbarian mains, but necessary for the overall health and longevity of the game.

There is not much that makes me excited to play a Barb for Season 5. The Class is getting MASSIVES nerfs to its Core. While I agree that some effect like Gushing Wounds had to come down, I do not quite understand the thought progress behind nerfing stuff like Walking Arsenal, especially after Blizzard talked about the Rule of Cool (Buffs rather than Nerfs).
We pretty much have the same Builds as in Season 4 but only weaker as the NEW stuff feels very underwhelming & also gets nerfed with the Key passive. I still hope we get some interesting, Unique reworks & new aspects for new build possibilities. Here are my full thoughts - what do you think?

I have all classes with decent gear at level 100,
Anyone who played any class outside Barb knows how broken this class is/was especially the Gushing Woonds Passive.
So this will be healthy for the game that the Barb will be brought down to the ground and others will be buffed to maybe meet in the middle of this huge massive gap we have.
They couldn't buff everything to Barb level because one-shooting 200 Uber-Bosses was just stupid so it was obvious that at some point they'd finally nerf this broken class.

It had to be removed because any other class had such tempers e.g. Druid can't temper IronFur, Vigilance, or Heightened Senses.
This was totally unfair and just another reason Barb is so broken and so OP. So instead of adding tempers to others, they decided to remove it from Barb. Good call!

Blizzard have the same problem that Bungie have, they both do exactly the same when it comes to "balancing" I remember in Destiny when Hawkmoon, Thorn and The Last Word hand cannons were meta and rly good Bungie rather than balancing them they just made them completely useless so people stopped using them alltogether.

I can understand where you're coming from. I play sorc and this will be the first time I've been excited for a season. I don't know enough about the barb to understand everything but can't deny that some of the changes don't make sense. I still think that there's a good chance that some builds from different classes will do better than expected. Hopefully if they did over-tune (all classes) up or down that they will do a good mid-season patch.

I was expecting massive nerfs to barbarian and buffing all other classes to compensate for fewer weapon slots. Was surprised by the random nerf to an underperforming passive such as walking arsenal, even when the items and builds for this passive are already so few. It seems to me that they are shifting more of the character power to the gear, so they might compensate some of these nerfs in the uniques and aspects. Either way, since the iron maelstrom build still don't look viable, I guess this will be a rogue season for me.

Coming from a player that has played pretty hardcore this season i also played first season and the season of blood but skipped last season. This season I have 3 level 100 characters Barbarian bash build rogue heartseeker and necro bone spear originally but switched to bone spirit. I have not once ever felt like I was overpowered I have a decent build just unlucky with greater aspects and tempering. I’m so fucking sick of nerfs stop nerfing anything let people enjoy the game it’s mainly pve anyways. I put hundreds of hours this season and I have all the Ubers available for the classes I have. And I’m still only doing tier 114 pits with only 2 of the characters my necro has basically no survivability I’m doing 500 million hits but that does nothing if you can’t survive. They need to make it easier to change builds like have a tab because it’s bullshit and so much work to try and build out just to realize it’s not viable keep this shit up blizzard and no one will play. I love the game and just want to have fun.

Welcome to being literally any other class in the game. This is how playing other classes feel. While some of the nerfs were silly, barb had ALL of the power and NONE of the detriments. Sorcs can give up ALL survivability for damage and still tickle the enemies

I'm just gonna say that thw company obviously catering to casual audiences by constantly buffing barb and making them do insane amounts of damage with like 1 attack so I get it. The only thing this has done is make the playerbase irritated with them tho. Now we finally have a patch where the underperformed classes got much needed buffs and they DIDNT buff the top classes like they've been doing. Again some of the nerfs were silly like 2qlking Arsenal, but barb still gonna be doing hundreds of millions cause 4 weps.

Every Barbarian main in the comment section saying they are skipping season 5 is pathetic. Every class apart from the Rogue has been suffering badly. The Barbarian power level had to come down for the health and longevity of the game. But they are so selfish and only have short term vision. Even after all of these nerfs, I guarantee you that the Barbarian is still the strongest class in the game.

They put a cap on fun in season 5. I am one of those who are not excited about it. I'll probably do the bare minimum to complete the season pass and call it a season probably as a sorc. Devs are so bad. It's nothing new that they over nerf builds Into unplayable rather then balancing.
Not only that but the wand for Sorc no longer has lucky hit they changed it to vulnerable damage which is a big Nerf. So I'll be using staff instead.
Is Blizzard's idea to balance the classes just gut the barbarian then add uniques that sorta help recover some damage? Then forcing barbs to sacrifice aspect slots for uniques for a faux balance?
It's the only thing that seems to make any sense. Blizzard said it before, that they want to create endgame excitement for Barbs via the Unique items. I still think they messed up big time, but I have a sliver of hope until I've seen all Unique item reworks.

Bleed WW gutted by GW nerf, but otherwise should be decent if you're willing to maybe use Unconstrained and dust devils as the main source of damage. Possibly pair it with Deathblow for killing bosses which is where WW often sucks.

honestly what all this means its just that barbs will have to grind and try just as hard as the other classes in the game. now days most of barb players are use to just putting a temper at lvl 35 and be ready till lvl 100 and beyond. barbs are deff not dead just not as braindead as they were for season 2,3 and 4. i think that most barb users want to hit for bilions of damage without having to work for it. I aways start the season with another class, then make a alt barb, and all the work for 2-3 weeks to max any other character i can surpass it with 2-4 good days with barb. this nerfs were needed and it should have been sooner. I fell like either this or they should just make that the barb (and rogue's) should only get the bonus weapon for the curent weapon they're using on the skill, just like all the other clsases.

It's complete bullshit. 1. The barbarian always chooses a balance between life and damage at different stages of the game (more life in leveling and more damage in endgame) 2. fully-equiped barbarian requires x2 more time: more weapons, more unsuccessful temperings, more pit runs, higher cost of gear, you play in a non-bis gear and hope that you can get some better thing and replace the old one. i played other classes (4 necro builds, 2 rogue, 1 sorc, 2 druid): all of them were good for "usual" players (2 weeks in season). Endgame content for 5-10% of d4 players, so wata fuck are developers and players for other classes so worried about the damage of the barbarian in the endgame?

Druids have gotten little to no love for four seasons now, it makes sense that we have a single season that is not barbarians doing 1000x damage more than any other build combined with the best survivability. Also, nobody is going to empathize with the need to do more grinding to fill your other weapon slots. At least you have other weapon slots 😂

I had to spend about 1/10th the time to build a barb that could kill tormented duriel than I had to spend to get a druid who could.

As someone who doesn't play barb much, I agree that nerfing core skills makes no sense. The barb is already not fun to level with prior to level 35-40. It takes awhile to find the dust devil thing to feel fun, since it wasn't in a dungeon this season.

Nerfing Walking Arsenal just again proves to me that Blizzard doesn't play or understand their own game. I'm not holding my breath with the new unique changes either considering the ones they have shown us are still underwhelming. I'm getting tired of making different builds with different classes only for them to be nerfed into the ground with a new season.
This is looking like the healthiest the game has been in, in terms of class balancing. Barbs have been the strongest character in the game since season 2 by a drastically large margin compared to the rest of the classes, 2 different key passes being able to give you guys 100x multiplicative key passives with 4 weapon slots was more than ridiculous.
They push player to try another class and hope for them to buy cosmetic for that class.

Barbs def should have a bit of an advantage in both defense and offense from the fact that they're almost exclusively melee, mostly defense because of the exponential nature of exposure to damage and the fact that you have to move to a location to do damage which i think they had about overdone in S4, but those nerfs are silly. If i'm going to do more damage afar, i'm just going to play a ranged class personnally.

Bricking items was bad enough. And now we got this. Why do we even have tempering if they are capping everything. Before season 1 they said no major nerfs and that they don't have 2 teams. Maybe just remove tempering or barb altogether.

What I do mind is the lack of hype. There's literally nothing new for barb in season 5.

About this time last year, they had that terrible nerf patch. This patch feels the same to me. Some nerfs sure but they went overboard. I had planned on playing a ww/bleed build that I haven't played since the preseason. Now I don't know if I will play much this upcoming season. I mainly play rogue, sorc or barb and I just played sorc season 4 so I might play a rogue but not feeling hyped about it. Edit (looks like I'll have to play d2r for a decent barb build a for a few months.)
Most of the nerfs seem fine, but I do agree some are weird like walking arsenals. More than likely barb is going to fine, and will still have strong builds, and I won't be surprised if it somehow becomes on of the top classes again lol. Honestly it's fine if barb isn't at the top for one season, it's been pretty much number one since release lol.
They need to completely redo th barb keypassives except for brawling. Walking Arsenal / Ub Rage otherwise 2/4 of the barb key passives will never be used. Half of the core skills augments need to be thrown out too.

The most important question is this: will barb be more fun in season 5 than it was in season4? If the answer is no,the devs failed at their jobs for the season. If it is more fun we all win.
I was looking forward to the deathblow build as a core skill. Im surprised the key passives got nurfed that hard. All the nerfs are a bit of a disappointment.
I think the developers dont really play their own game, but I could be wrong. However, im certain that the Diablo 4 community has players like Rob who spend a lot of time analyzing and calculating things. I believe they could collaborate with the developers to come up with ideas to steer the game in a positive direction. It would be beneficial for the developers to communicate with key figures within the community.
What about a lucky hit build? Maybe frenzy. Scaling fire and cold with the updated unique, Azurewrath, doombringer, fire aspect while berserkin, andariel etc. full attack speed build with lucky hit triggers. Probably more than I mentioned.

Yeah some of the nerfs are just kind weird, like walking arsenal doesn't make much sense since it was recently buffed. Barbs did 100% need to brought down though. And more than likely barb is going to honestly be fine and I won't be surprised if some busted build come about in s5 for barb.

This is exactly what i said. Also unbridled fury nerf was so insane to me. There are very few builds that actually use it to any success. And now those builds will be complete dumpster-tier. ":D" Barbarians core skills are already bad. The damage comes from all the additional effects. Now unbridled fury basically made it so no core builds are good, ever.
Man i can't wait for PoE2. PoE1 wasn't for me but as it is now, it seriously feels like blizzard has 0 clue how to actually balance or even design their game. They don't seem to understand "why" certain classes just don't work. They are just doing blanket buffs/nerfs which don't help the fact that the "best builds" will remain as such - they are just nerfing all the other builds.
On top of this they are just capping everything not at all realizing that this hurts the game balance EVEN MORE. The difference between classes was already bad but the builds WITHIN THE CLASSES THEMSELVES IS ABSOLUTE DOGSHIT.

I like these changes... honestly, i was afraid D4 was getting close to D3 already in terms of power creep. Hitting for billions isn't fun. And we have to see how the item changes are going to affect builds. I remember in S2 people saying barb would be C tier and ended up being the strongest class.
Barb didn’t have the highest pit clear, or the quickest 1-100 (I think it was 2nd), and most good builds can kill tormented bosses in 10-30 seconds. I’m not evening opening the game up season 5 and I hope the other barb mains do the same thing that’s the only thing that will show them these changes were too much just like the nerfs on day 1.

Yes barb had the highest pit clear. You are counting a mekuna sorc build which was literally bugged and the only reason he got higher was because he was fishing for a boss that spawns minions so the shatter bonus would actually do damage. If there was no shatter (It's patched now btw) That sorc build wouldnt even be clearing pit 120. Barb literally had 4 builds easily doing pit 140+. Not to mention they do this while taking 0 damage. Now the builds lose 1.5x damage and they cry about it. Most druid and sorc builds are barely even in tier B while barb had 4 tier S builds. Pen shot and victimize rogue were also bugged so if you remove all the bugged builds Barbs are the only classes in S tier.

@@Ironclad6661 Barb was 10x baseline stronger than any other class. The only classes competitiing with barb were bugged builds from sorc and rogue. Flay, Bash, thorns, WW were all much better.
The unbridled rage change is the most nonsensical one. Can’t they do 3rd grade math and see they just killed the key passive?
don't actually need a 3rd grader to realise 145% (damage) is less than 200% (cost) tho

15:24 easy:
- I am proud, they included the function for setting teleport points and I can link them in the command wheel. I dont have to open the map, scroll to the whisper tree, click on the teleport anymore. Sometimes 2 to 3 times, because in helltide spawned massive monsters waves.
- I can temper now magicfind, goldfind, greater pick up radius for example. Hurray, more individuell funbuilds.
- I can click on the picture of teammate and can teleport directly to him.
- I can safe now builds and dont need several chars.
- There is a lootfilter. I can say, only items with up to 1GA will drop, the rest is mats or gold.
S5 will bring so much more quality for the players.
It would be a shame, when after more than 1 year they need to balance the classes massivly and that also in a bad way. They did such a great job. They learned a lot from the past, when they released diablo 2 and 12 years later Diablo 3. 😂
the best qol changes do not matter if the games not fun to play. I can understand why so many players are quitting rn. Didnt they had the same problem in (or right before) season 1?

Gushing wounds has been capable of 1 shotting uber lilith since before season 1. It has ALWAYS been ridiculously overtuned. Why nerf it now?

Anyone who played any class outside Barb knows how broken this class is/was especially the Gushing Woonds Passive.
So this will be healthy for the game that the Barb will be brought down to the ground and other classes will be buffed to maybe meet in the middle of this huge massive gap we have.
Wow, when Rob is not all sunshine and positivity, this spells barb funeral for Season 5 (and on the eternal server). Agree with not nerfing a class and raising all of the other classes for balance philosophy. Gonna sit out of the upcoming short season.
Despite all this Rob will figure out a way to make S5 worth playing and work his magic on the barb.

People complain about not wanting that D3 power creep, why not? That’s what I loved about D3 was playing absolutely busted builds every season, if they are going to continue to add harder content it needs to scale with it, so nerfing everything isn’t the solution bring all the classes to the same level don’t nerf, buff! I have a feeling the spirtborn is going to be utterly broken because the Devs don’t even play their own game. Maybe one day blizzard will just let us have broken builds and leave them alone.
After playing Season 4, I thought the game was finally heading in the right direction with buffs and letting players enjoy different builds and classes. I get that some classes, like Druids, needed some love, but it feels like they've mostly nerfed things instead of balancing them out.
In the end, it doesn't matter if a class is stronger or weaker as long as the gameplay feels balanced with the new power levels. But it doesn't seem like there were enough changes to justify the huge nerfs.
It's a bit disappointing to see these decisions made without enough explanation. I really hope they release more information on their reasoning and that the game isn't taking two steps back after such an important step forward.

It seems like you just see Barb bash and think, "That's not fair."
I'd rather see other classes get better and have more diverse builds to match the Barbarian in Season 4. Nerfing less-used Barbarian builds makes them even less viable in mid to endgame content, which limits player options.
Games often adjust power levels, but without explaining their reason, we don't know what's intended. That's my point.
Add to the game, don't take options away.

Can someone please help me understand Gushing Wounds calculations that Rob does ? Im trying to undestand the game better, and I have no idea how he arrived at that 34x nerf.
I get how he arrived at his multiplier on live server, though according to my calculation it should not be 62,66x but rather 64,87x == ([4873,8*1,4]/100 + 1)*0,937
But I have absolutely no idea how he arrived at 1,84x multiplier given this patch notes, help please. Thx
The changes don't effect me though. My barb is a Thorns Barb who doesn't use Flay and instead uses Frenzy.
Are you not running Imposing Presence or how exactly are these changes not affecting you?
@@GitGoodGaming I'm a thorns barb I did the math they nerfing rumble glyph which made leap quake thorns good, by -220%x need to imposing presence and removing imposing presence temper bring your average thorns down 100k and your top end thorns base damage down 200k so you are doing 130k less base x 295% less damsge with all buffs respectively so your build much like mine got in half and then divided by 3 so good luck mate

Well... corrections WILL impact the class like that. Barbs has been the strongest... more or less since day 1. So maybe thats fair enough.
I think that it's a fair trade to have the barb nerved, so the other classes can shine. It's about time.
100% agree. Much like season 1 I will be starting the season with a different class when my traditional main has always been Barbarian.
I was excited to see buffs to the other classes however I was under the impression no nerfs to barb outside gushing wounds adjustment and hemorrhage node being capped. Very disappointing; basic skill builds incredibly boring. At least we had one season where spin 2 win was back after farming numerous uber uniques.
Sorc and rogue/druid sound most fun to play this season
I like how you say they want to move everything up and not nerf barb down. Then that's literally what blizzard just did nerfed them down.
in this case, I don't see any point in playing season 5 for myself, much less buying an add-on for 90 bucks. I just feel sorry for my time on the farm uber of unique items.
This is why I don't pre-order anything - especially from Blizzard. If it stays remotely like this I'm sitting it out. I want balance not knee jerk nerfs and changes that dramatically effect entire classes. They need to focus on what makes barb and other classes fun with multiple build options and set them all to the same level.
They've tried to nerf Barb since launch and failed, so I don't think these changes will amount to much once you factor in all the new aspects and items.

if the rest of the skill tree has so much good stuff that skipping key passive is an alternative, it should probably be nerfed aswell
Going to say this every time. Blizzard does not thoroughly understand how their stats and dmg and abilities interact and scale. Game is already numerically disgusting and out of control. Bosses with TRILLIONS of HP requiring builds that hit billions upon billions is just dumb. We are already seeing dmg numbers close to season 25+ of D3 and we are barely a year into the games life.
Damage and multipliers etc need a complete overhaul.
I feel next season, even with the sorc buffs, Druid and rogue will have top clears.
PS, I’m sorry whatever my main class is, blizzard nerfs it. Season 2,3, and 4 sorc was my main. I tried barb for the first time this season and thought maybe i might be a barb main now. But I will probably be a rogue or Druid main for next season so expect them to get some big nerfs going into season 6.
Rob, do you think you will main barn again in s5? Or move onto a different main character after trialing barb?

Tbh, until they add reset option on tempering,I'm going to lay off D4. Tired of wasting days, trying to get perfect triple greater affix item,and then brick it with tempering. And that is even with using Pity temper mechanic. 9 times it rolled wrong skill,in row. That is bull. They added reset on master working,they can add it to tempering.

Season 4 was great for barb. Probably my favorite build so far. Spin to win felt so great. Instead of nerfing why don’t they make barb the goal to get the other classes up to. It’s so sad. Fun=nerf. This is an arpg we want to be able to smash things. Why take the fun out of it. Why?!?!
I think it's to be expected that there's not much to be excited about for barbarian. Barbarian has been the best class to play pretty much since the launch of Diablo 4. Each other class has been losing fan bases for months now which naturally means that the devs should want to focus on the other classes and not barbarian for a season to get everybody else caught back up. Definitely not fun for barbarian mains, but necessary for the overall health and longevity of the game.
In pvp, there's always 10 or 11 barbarians and me. 🤡
