All the centuries old hymns will never fade out the power of the Lord is there and can not be stifled. I'm a Southern Baptist and theses hymns will always be appropriate for praise and edification of the soul. Today there isn't many praise and worship songs now a days and those that are popular have no depth or beauty. Praise GOD for those past lyricists and their works that live on forever.
A hymn that can bring tears to my eyes. I love this hymn one of my favorite one’s. The holy lamb of God died for me. What a wonderful feeling. God is good! 👑
amen and God bless ! there is NOTHING like these old hymns to inspire us in the faith -------- modern "praise" music never makes me cry, and tears are welling up just listening to this! wish they'd sung the last verse: " when this poor lisping , stammering tongue lies silent in the grave, then in a nobler , sweeter song i'll sing Thy power to save! "
Salvation is found only in the cleansing blood of Jesus Christ, who died on the Cross and became the propitiation for our sins. What a beautiful rendering of this timeless hymn
I was saved at a young age; YESHUA (Jesus) actually came to me during my despair. Oh what a day! All these songs were sung at my Pentecostal church; each of them brought be tears of joy and tears of hope. Back then (1976) all the hymns were meaningful. No hype. Just the sweet presence of the Holy Spirit of YHVH, our Elohim. Nothing complicated. I have since STOPPED going to churches for it pushes people away from humble beginnings. "Oh, how I love JESUS, because HE first loved me"...
when i m listing to this song, i find peace and happiness with my soul, i see myself having all what i need from God the Father, maker of heaven and earth. i see myself as God's messenger,as a peace maker,i find myself in tears, with more hope in Christ alone, among all i see myself sitting in heave with God,,,,, what a wonderful song. Dear choir, may the blessing of the almightiest God be with you all and inspire you with more songs of blessings. ameeeeennnnnnnn
It is wellnigh impossible for mortal tongues to truly Exalt and Extol Divinity but these singers are sincerely doing their blessed and gracious Best!!! V. W.
A soul-stirring song that reminds us that our eternal salvation was fulfilled by the atoning sacrifice, the shedding of the blood of the Lord Jesus, as the Lamb of God, on the cross of Calvary.
I owe my existence to this song. My father was the music minister at my mother's church. They were dating at the time, and one Sunday he sang this during the service and she realized at that moment she was in love!
Modern worship songs, at least the ones I listen to, are no less scriptural than hymns. Just like the individuals who are older feel God's presence and are brought to tears through and by hymns, the younger generations are feeling God's presence through today's music. Psalms 100:1 - God doesn't listen to the notes, or the rhythm, He listens for sincere JOY.
These hymns are written and composed by God fearing men and women who know their Bible intimately. You can pick up portions or recognize passages taken from scripture. This is scripture being interpreted with scripture, in other words speaking for itself in music and song. Praise God for these men and women.
God's hand was on him, for sure, but in a most unusual way. He was poet laureate of England and a member of the church that John Newton (writer of "Amazing Grace") pastored. He suffered terribly from what we would call depression and anxiety, attempting suicide on at last one occasion. He and Newton collaborated on a hymn book, "Olney Hymns". Just as Cowper (as I understand it, pronounced "Cooper") felt himself slipping into another depression he wrote a hymn, the first line of which is often quoted but almost never understood. We often hear people say, "God moves in a mysterious way..." meaning that that something a little spooky or overly-coincidental has happened. But Cowper was talking about how God sends great trial and trouble into the lives of His people to accomplish His glorious and eternal work of salvation: God moves in a mysterious way His wonders to perform; He plants His footsteps in the sea And rides upon the storm. Deep in unfathomable mines Of never failing skill He treasures up His bright designs And works His sovereign will. Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take; The clouds ye so much dread Are big with mercy and shall break In blessings on your head. Judge not the Lord by feeble sense, But trust Him for His grace; Behind a frowning providence He hides a smiling face. His purposes will ripen fast, Unfolding every hour; The bud may have a bitter taste, But sweet will be the flower. Blind unbelief is sure to err And scan His work in vain; God is His own interpreter, And He will make it plain.
William Cowper lived a very interesting life as poet, Christian, and friend. He had deep depressions and believed he was going to hell through God's predestined hand. He got this idea from a dream he misinterpreted because of his low self esteem. He found comfort only in friends and nature and one friend was Newton, who wrote Amazing Grace. William was a victim of too much spirituality and emotionalism...but God kept him close with the natural world and human friends. I love him...he's a favorite. People who feel overwhelmed with spirituality and lists of religious obligations can read his writings and find a friend. He also wrote about the slave trade in very moving poems. His death at 70 was witnessed by a friend who said William died with a look of huge surprise. Alleluia, William!!!
I love the words of this song. The words are so important to meditate on while singing drawn-out or singing it the standard version as hymns were originally written. The words touch the heart and we need this so much in today's oppressive times.
Only in the last couple of years did I "discover" that this is one of my favorite hymns: I love David Phelps' version as well as those of Selah and 4Him. What a message: "Redeeming love has been my theme and shall be till I die!"
Thank you for your page. I am very grateful for the music you put on here, it is a blessing. The words are so rich, it doesn't even need background music. I think that's the difference between music today is that the words are not very good that it needs the noise or a beat to keep it going. Again thank you.
Worship is worship. You shouldn't call it junk. You might prefer one over another, but it's all beautiful and it's all been proven to affect and transform lives.
A beloved verse is not included in this one; The dyeing thief rejoiced to see, that fountain in his day; and there may I, though vile as he, wash all my sins away: Wash all my sins away, wash all my sins away; And there may I, though vile as he, wash all my sins away.
There are 5 verses to this hymns, and this performance only uses 3 of the 5. My father used to direct church music, and when I was in the 6th grade my teacher attended a service in our church. The next day she asked me why we didn't sing all the verses of any of the hymns. I told her we usually left out a verse or two in order to get more hymns in the service in the time available.
There is a fountain filled with blood Drawn from Emmanuel’s veins; And sinners plunged beneath that flood Lose all their guilty stains. Lose all their guilty stains, Lose all their guilty stains; And sinners plunged beneath that flood Lose all their guilty stains. The dying thief rejoiced to see That fountain in his day; And there have I, though vile as he, Washed all my sins away. Washed all my sins away, Washed all my sins away; And there have I, though vile as he, Washed all my sins away. Dear dying Lamb, Thy precious blood Shall never lose its power Till all the ransomed church of God Be saved, to sin no more. Be saved, to sin no more, Be saved, to sin no more; Till all the ransomed church of God Be saved, to sin no more. E’er since, by faith, I saw the stream Thy flowing wounds supply, Redeeming love has been my theme, And shall be till I die. And shall be till I die, And shall be till I die; Redeeming love has been my theme, And shall be till I die. Then in a nobler, sweeter song, I’ll sing Thy power to save, When this poor lisping, stammering tongue Lies silent in the grave. Two hundred years ago, this was the scandalous modern music of its day. :-) I have learned, that if I listen with my heart, I can appreciate any musical style, when the purpose of the performers is to glorify God.

His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea
And rides upon the storm.
Deep in unfathomable mines
Of never failing skill
He treasures up His bright designs
And works His sovereign will.
Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
The clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy and shall break
In blessings on your head.
Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust Him for His grace;
Behind a frowning providence
He hides a smiling face.
His purposes will ripen fast,
Unfolding every hour;
The bud may have a bitter taste,
But sweet will be the flower.
Blind unbelief is sure to err
And scan His work in vain;
God is His own interpreter,
And He will make it plain.

Shall never lose its power
Till all the ransomed church of God
Be saved, to sin no more.
Be saved, to sin no more,
Be saved, to sin no more;
Till all the ransomed church of God
Be saved, to sin no more.
E’er since, by faith, I saw the stream

Redeeming love has been my theme,
And shall be till I die.
And shall be till I die,
And shall be till I die;
Redeeming love has been my theme,
And shall be till I die.
Then in a nobler, sweeter song,
I’ll sing Thy power to save,
When this poor lisping, stammering tongue
Lies silent in the grave.
Lies silent in the grave,
Lies silent in the grave;
When this poor lisping, stammering tongue
Lies silent in the grave.
Lord, I believe Thou hast prepared,
Unworthy though I be,
For me a blood bought free reward,
A golden harp for me!
A golden harp for me,
A golden harp for me;
For me a blood bought free reward,
A golden harp for me!
’Tis strung and tuned for endless years,
And formed by power divine,
To sound in God the Father’s ears
No other name but Thine;
No other name but Thine,
No other name but Thine;
To sound in God the Father’s ears
No other name but Thine.

I have learned, that if I listen with my heart, I can appreciate any musical style, when the purpose of the performers is to glorify God.
Thank you Lord for the blood of Christ Jesus! Hallelujah!!!
Love The BLOOD HYMNS
