About the Festival
Established in 1987, Melbourne International Comedy Festival (#MICF) is one of the three largest comedy festivals in the world, alongside Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Montreal's Just for Laughs Festival.
Over the last week of March and into April every year, #MICF transforms Melbourne into the comedy capital of the world, as local and international comedians take to theatres, pubs, clubs and broom cupboards citywide - shining a spotlight on the silly, the serious, the heart-breaking and the hilarious.

2 lines fish joke funnier in the context of her only being on stage for 4 minutes.
She does a lot with those 4 minutes though imo.
She forgot heroin addicts. We're portrayed as heroin addicts. And that's when we choose how we're portrayed.
I've lived in the USA for 50 years and struggle with the culture. I'm so different it's depressing because it's hard to keep a job. Not sorry but the insensitive, mechanical way everyone is supposed to go after money with gusto breaks my heart. and the money goes to the guys at the top so...I'm broke and working too hard and keep getting illnesses, so depressing. My boss with a wife at home who sits on his butt and eats and orders people around insists there's no difference between a 10 hour shift and a 12 hour one. And here's me struggling with 6-7 hour shifts busting butt doing all sorts of heavy lifting. He really can't see the difference in our work, or he just doesn't care. good times. I cry a lot. I'm too old for this sh!t.

Americans have a positive, can do attitude. Scotland on the other hand is cynical, pessimistic and dour. Why I left to live abroad and get some sun.
If all the confident people leave, it's going to stay that way.
Yup i was right. I had a feeling after watching her on Task Master she wasn't going to be all that funny and I was right.
That opening was met with almost completely dead silence and there was never an outbreak of loud laughter just polite laughter at the right moments, Fern seems like a nice lady but based on her filmed performances her material lacks consistency and for the stages she's performing on the audience reactions are always fairly quiet and subdued.
