Hi - just a note - being a South Indian myself - usually they say not to use tomatoes or tamarind in iron / cast iron - it messes with the digestion and assimilation. So we usually don’t make sambhar / rasam in cast iron / iron. And use it for every thing else - like beans / potato/ cabbage / cauliflower poriyals etc …
No no we can usr for ages we are using just it needs to be transferred as soon as its done
Where did you buy this paniyaram pan mam?
You are correct
Thanks for the info
Yes we have to use them for dishes without tamarind
Your videos are soothing to the eyes. I instantly subscribed and binge watched all of them at once😅
I wanted to comment on not using iron cookware for acidic food like tomatoes and tamarind... But i see, enough ppl have already commented about it i think 😁😁😄
The mini idly plates remind me of my school tiffin boxes my mom used to pack, drizzled with ghee and podi 😍
I just came to this video after i saw the next one (latest, 5 tiffin ideas one)... I just watched it late at night and now I am hungry 😁😁 awesome recipes..
Hey. Have got a cast iron tawa for over six months but was never confident on how to season properly. Though it's a long process but tomorrow is Sunday. Gonna surely do it. Well we both share the same love while in an utensil store. For me crockery, utensil shopping is like a kid in the candy 🍭 store. Much love
Haha...utensil shop is walking heaven. So happy I could share the glimpse with you in the video. Cast iron is really doing wonders in my kitchen. Go for the seasoning Rohini. The effort is worth it seriously :)
Make sure the rust completely goes off before using it for cooking & transfer any dishes made with citric acid in that like tomatoes/tamarind/lemon to other container as the citric acid leaches into the iron and the taste & colour will change
I second that! Both the advices are absolutely true. Thank you for watching and sharing the advices here. 😊❤️
I really really liked iron cookwares and me also shifted from non stick to iron
Only one word YOU ARE JUST PERFECT ❤ lots of love Swati
You are so enthu
I like your working style and combinations of food

When u said heaven for me, i could totally relate 😁 loved the haul. :)
Isnt it? I explored that shop for so long. Thank you for watching :)
We don’t eat vegetables much on a daily basis but cooking even all our meat dishes in iron vessels is delicious and nutritious Ofcourse. Especially red meat!
Perfect ! Thanks
Thank you for watching and connecting with me :)
I just wonder how well u adjust with so many move and can you maintain a social life with just frequent move 😊. Happy to see your positive Attitude towards life ..
My dad had a transferable job and guess moving places, making friends and relocation comes naturally since then 😅.
Good to see when local goes vocal..I was irritated with vloggers who got stuck with IKEA and not exploring their own indan local market.
Hi Shweta, thank you for all the praises. I pick things that give me the best output in terms of price, quality or functionality be it local or IKEA. But I always prefer to explore local to be able to compare all places and shop for the best thing. I really waited for 5 months for this shopping haha!
I love all the shopping 🛍️ stuff.
Thank you Kanchan 😊😊
Kadai is good for frying pappad , making little subji, and of course make yummy apppam .

Thank you for motivating me with such good words. I really need to hear this more often than not. I am more than thankful to you. :)
I absolutely loved your shopping...I loved that appe pan, so adorable. Many years ago I bought cast iron cookware for an exorbitant price. You point on appam chetti is 💯 true. I got a chetti which I barely use. My next purchase is a tava for which I am waiting patiently ...I also hope to buy it locally as its way cheaper. I loved this shopping haul, completely worth it.
Thank you Gauri! I saw the hotel staff using the same kadai for appams and it was then it stuck to me. So glad you enjoyed the shopping.

Hello Swati ji!
I liked your today's cookware shopping haul a lot. It is really difficult to choose any one of these articles because I liked all the articles 🥰 but I just loved brass idiyappam machine. Thnx for such nice tips for making these cast iron cookware ready to use. I will definitely purchase cast iron tawa now from local market. Thnx and best wishes to you 😊😊👍👍
Thank you for writing to me Diptee. I am yet to use the idiyappam machine but yes, I am also very excited for it. :)

Glad you liked it. Thanks for writing to me :)
Sis, i have that same coconut scraper, over years it's vaccum will reduce, while scrapping it gets detaches, intially you won't face it. Happy to see you enjoyed my native place.
@talkingmom - True, over the years the suction will reduce and you will find it difficult to use the coconut scraper. Instead you can go for wooden coconut scraper from amazon that sits on the kitchen platform very easily.
Thank you so much for this feedback. It will really be useful for future. :)
How do you use white pepper corn?
All are good buys 😃
Thank you for the feedback :)
Where do you store your cast iron idiyappam tava and other a small tip will b needful
Where did I buy appam cast iron pan?
Very nice video!! I am watching your video for first time. Your presentation is too good!! I just wanted to tell you that after switching off the stove, remove cooked food in another vessel from cast iron vessels. If you keep in the same, extra iron will be deposited in food which is not good for our health. This is what my mother-in-law told me.
Wonderful video. You really motivated me. I'll try switching over to cast iron gradually. The coconut scraper was also a good buy. I would like to know it's price so that I can also get one. The mixie is not so useful for scraping coconut
All the purchases are so meaningful and well thought.. coincidently i also brought an iron-ware kadai and i can relate to the experience you are quoting against non-stick cookware. Good to see you well, Swati and say hi to rutvi
Thank you so much! So glad you find my vlogs meaningful. Hi from Rutvi :)

You seem to have made the most of Kochi. Great buys 😊
Yes I did :)

I wud have bought the same things and felt the same happiness 😊 I literally felt I only bought all those things and enjoying it 😂 can't wait to see ur next vlog...
Thank you so much 🙂. It was an instant connection with these things. I am so glad you think that the shopping was worth it. Lots of love Roopa :)
@@TalkingMom ya soo true.. we can't stop from buying it... Lots of love 😍💖
Lovely video! But I have heard that raw iron utensils are better than cast iron as per health issues. Am i wrong?
This video is really helpful for me...bcz I have cast iron dosa pan recently but don't know how to season it ..I washed it and applied oil many times but rust doesn't go off...one thing I want to ask is have you done the whole seasoning process in the same day..and after frying onions did u simply leave the pan or did u wash it again and used just to confirm so that I can follow and use it?
Hello and thank you for watching the Vlog. So glad that it is helpful to you. Yes I did the entire process in one day and at the end after frying onions, I again repeated the same process of salt and lemon + drying + oiling and heating till smokes comes. This is a constant step after every cooking process. Rust will come if you won’t oil it and heat it at the end before putting it in cabinets. Hope it was helpful 😊❤️
@@TalkingMom ok thank you
I just want to mention one thing. My mom told me not to cook citurs things like tomato in cast iron cookware. I hope it will be helpful for you. Good shopping. Keep on sharing your shopping with us. Stay happy always.
Thank you for the advice Rama. I have taken note on that :)
Hey where are these shops in Cochin ?? Please reply
In appam patra you.can make pakora, kofta with less oil and choclate bomb as well
Hello! Yes and I make all of them. In one of the video I had shared the choclate cake recipe aswell 😀. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻😊
Wow nice
Please give me from chochin which shop you bought vessal nd spices
Even I want to buy one stone mill also wher you bought that very nice one
Hello mam 😀and again wow vlog❤
You are very sweet :)
@@TalkingMom 😀
Hi Swati.. Lovely vlog as always.. I'm from Kerala and has been using cast iron for years. .. A suggestion is to wipe off the excess water after washing before you keep the utensils directly on the stove for drying and heating up. Otherwise there are chances of cracks forming on the surface due to sudden change in temperature. Also pls share the shop details from where you bought those stuff from.. Would be helpful for many.. Lots of ❤
Thank you so much for this advice. I am glad I have friends like you to improve me for better. The shop name is Fancy utensils in Broadway and there is one in Mather bazaar inside Braodway market.
Hey! Loved that mini cast iron kadai. Could you please tell the diameter? In inches or maybe cms? Basically wanted to know its size.
In appam patra you can make pakodas and choclate bomb
Price of these cast iron cookware in south local market please answer
Kadhai depth is good 👍
Thank you for sharing the feedback :)

Thanks to you for watching and sharing this note. Means a lot :)

haha...At atleast I shared on in the latest vlog. Let me know how it was :)
Hello di..video is lovely and loving all your shopping. I was expecting your purchase cd be tagged with the price or bargaining if any , it would help us in shopping. 🙏
*Love from Kerala* 😍🥰
Love you back Gopika. Thank you for watching dear :)
Beautiful ...I doubt about the stability of the coconut scraper
Hi Preeti, is it? Have you tried it before? I will also check and see for myself. Else I will use my knee to hold it and both hands to scrape the coconut like the traditional way 😂. Thanks for watching girl!! ❤️
Most of South Indians use that coconut scrapper a lot. Best buy as coconuts crunch and juicy content remains intact while scrapping and is lost if grinded.Am using one since 6 yrs.
Whenever you will heat the iron vessel to dry up water, u will have visible rust, so wipe dry with a cloth first then heat to get rid of remaining moisture. Btw, love your videos ❤️
Hello, thank you for watching the video and showing your love. I am really thankful 😃. And agreed, wiping also helps in pacing the drying process 😊
what is Raitha masala
Very nice video...kindly suggest me good idli stand pls I will be very grateful 🙏 thanks 😊 for giving us such a nice videos tk stay blessed
Hey, I am planning to get these products... Just out of curiosity, Are they still in good condition?
Hi Ankita, so far I have used most items except the brass idiyappam maker and everything is doing superbly. Hope that will help :)
Hello.. quite addicted to your videos I’m.
One question I have. All these product links that you’ve shared, are these similar items or have you purchased from the same seller offline ? Thanks.
Thank you Neha. I am glad you enjoy watching my videos. I bought all items offline, but if offline vendors are not available in your city, you can check the online links of the similar items that I have shared in the description. :)

Hey my 🏡town....love from kochi
Aww.. thank you so much. Lots of love to you too ❤️
Kodaikanal.
Could u plz tell how much did the mortar pestle cost?
Hello Kusumika, frankly the local purchase is always reasonable and that’s the reason I waited to buy all these items locally. I got this one in 190/-. Although I am yet to use it and understand the quality. Will share in future vlogs sometime maybe 😊
Ok..thank u
Will look fwd for its reviews
Hi di ..I am newly married.its little difficult to manage home alone.can you plz tell me ..why is there white residues on utensils..what I can do for this
Congrats on your new marriage :) Go easy and be consistent. Don't try to finish everything in one go I will say. White residue can be because of 1) Too much dishwashing detergent 2) Hard water supply. Use vinegar water as the last water to rinse you utensil. Hope this will be helpful :)
What's the size of your kadai please let me know and also the tawa
Tawa is 10 inch and I think Kadai is also the same size.
Hey there pleasent vlog there. Your daughter also seems to be left handed.
Hello, thank you for watching. Yes she is left-handed :)
Which is your settled city mam?
1st one to comment😊😊
Hi Meenakshi. Thank you for writing here. Did you enjoy watching the shopping? 😃
Mam aap appam bna k btaiye plzz
Hi am ur new subscriber.. Frm Kerala…are you Frm Kochi ?
17:28 to 17: 32 😇😄😄
Thank you for picking on Rutvi's smile. :)
Price of kadhai n tawa in local market bcz in amezon means online too costly
Hello Shilpa, Both were below 500 because it was Kochin - the place of manufacturing. Else in another city, the same thing in the local market also might be a bit overpriced due to varied reasons.
@@TalkingMom thank you 😊
I am a malayalee 🥰🤝
Lots of love to you :)
