Bro the exact same thing happened to me, and now I am waiting for my surgery, I am 19 years old and this is my last year of high school and I am gonna try to be a pro soccer player, I hope the recover don't take too long. thx for the info.
Hey, recovery took me a little longer than I expected, part of it that I didn’t want to rush, so I did extra, I was back around 10/2019. I been playing in a semi-pro leagues (NPSL, UPSL, USL2) and am just working hard to achieve the dream one day! I appreciate all the love and support!
Hello I am 14 I got acl surgery April 2019 and I did physical therapy and home exercising for the past 5 months and I don’t get pain. I have built a lot of Quad and Calf muscles so far. Do u you think I will be able to get back to full soccer 9 months in? Thank you
When you operate on your patients for ACL reconstructions, do you first properly look for any meniscus (medial/lateral) damage, baker's cyst, joint effusion etc during the arthroscopy part, or do you just focus on the reconstruction itself?
They will do an MRI which will show all those structures. If any of them are damaged, they will repair them. If they can't repair the meniscus (medial or lateral) they will remove the injured portion to prevent further injury in a procedure called a meniscectomy. They can't fix a baker cyst though. That will swell up after surgery and will get better after 4 weeks. If it stays swollen, painful or limits range of motion, it can be aspirated (drained with a fine needle). Unfortunately, most patients will see the baker cyst return, sometimes after just 24 hours. But the draining does alleviate pain and it usually isn't as big as when you had it aspirated.
Thanks for your info sir, it is very useful. My acl was completely torn 6 months ago now I am fit again and back to my base ball sport and 6 days intense workout and I am able to manage them without problem (sometimes slight soreness in other parts of the knee, I am icing it). So if I continue this way is my knee going to give me a problem in my 40s or 50s (now I am 27), please give me your respon
Mahendra Satya Thank you for the comment. Complete ACL tears most often leads to instability of the knee that can cause progress damage to the meniscus and cartilage. This damage can very rapidly process to arthritis at a young age. It is this reason that in young, active individuals we most times perform surgical reconstruction of the torn ACL ligament. I would be very cautious about returning to activity and sports without an evaluation by an orthopedic sports medicine specialist if you have a known ACL injury.
i hd a new tendon on 7 june... its too pain during flexion... smetym i feel like... i vl nvr able to achieve full flexion.... i want to ask is it common..?.. hw much tym does it required
MarshMello F.C Yea I'm 8 days post surgery just doing a lot of physical therapy to get the motion back but I'm doing great. I can get up and walk. Thanks for asking brother take care
Li Osmani It's doing better. 3rd week from surgery and I'm able to walk, not completely fine, and just got cleared to ride a stationary bicycle for more movement. Give it some time I wasn't able to walk till the 4-6 day post surgery don't worry it's perfectly normal. Best of luck my friend hope the best for you and your leg and hope you have a speedy recovery but one thing I learned is to listen to your doctor! Don't push yourself when you're not ready Bc it only hurts you. Wait till the doc clears you before you do any activity that will strain your knee. Best of luck let me know how things go!

Hello sir I'm sylse I'm footballer From India I'm 13 And I had a ankle sprain 5 month ago So, it doesn't fell very good to me Its sound like tearing when I twist my ankle so what is the best exercise and how to heal very fast.....
Hi, sheldon. I had acl surgery back in may 2019. And now entering my week 7. So far, i ditch my crutches on week 6 and currently without any braces. Can i know when can i start to run? And can i have the name of the item that physioterapist use to lessen the scar tissue? Thanks and i hope to hear from you soon.
dembot yaya Full weight bearing land-based running typically does not begin for 3-4 months after ACL surgery. Therapists use many different manual scraping tools to help decrease the formation of scar tissue and treat tendinitis. This technique is called ASTYM.
I am having ACL and meniscus reconstruction surgery in a couple of weeks but I my motion on the injured leg is not perfect. There's also minor swelling. Can we still do the surgery despite this? I know you'd have to look at my knee directly but I am looking for just a super rough estimate of what you'd think the doctor will go with. I don't want to delay the surgery more. :/
For me it was a hamstring graft, just a regular high school soccer player. Always been underrated but many kids know I’m good. I’m underrated by my coach. Anyway I tore it my junior year and I’m at 6 months about to be 7 in 10 days and soccer tryouts start very soon on the 22nd. This is my Senior year and I really want to get a scholarship and do my best to play. Should I go for it and try out without a note or just take my time and possibly not get the attention I want from soccer.
my knee once gave in while I was playing soccer but I didn't tear anything. My doctor told me that I had a small bruise but it will recover over time. After therapy my knee have gotten some what better but it still pops and when i try to sprint and stop I feel as if the bones are rubbing on each other and it stings. How can i resolve this situation?
You should get a MRI to check what is going on your knee , my situation was the same as your, I got the MRI and I found that I had a torn acl so I get a surgery.
I am also a football player. I heard pop sound when I was landing on ground so I get check up then doctor ask me to do MRI. Then when I show the result to doctor of MRI. He wasn't believe it because result was full acl tear. But when doctor examing my leg he didn't find acl tear. Now it's been 6 month now I can play football. But now also I don't think I will get to my previous condition. What should I do . Can acl injury can be cure with out surgery. Can I get back to ground with 100% recover. Please give reply, I am in situations where I don't know what to do.
Dipesh Prasai Partial ACL injuries can be less straightforward to treat than full thickness complete tears which are almost always treated surgically because non operative treatment may sometimes be appropriate and effective at allowing athletes to return to sport with partial tears. These athletes must still be followed closely for any signs of instability that could cause further injury to the knee.
Hello ,no not at all , i had Patella tendon graft ,the story goes like this ..i injured my acl and meniscus while playing football..to get back to the game the surgeon recommended patella tendon, as it is preferred for athletes...a week after the surgery i sensed that a part near the stitch fails to heal and puss broke out ..the surgeon sensed infection and they performed a surgery to clear the infection after a week same symtoms were seen ,so they declared the surgery as failed and removed the graft which was taken from my right patella tendon
Pradeep B, I am sorry to hear of your unfortunate outcome. The decision to pursue revision ACL surgery is a complex one, dependent on many factors, such as your goals and expectations, and current status regarding the presumed infection. I would be happy to see you in the office for a consultation to explore your options. Regards Shelden L. Martin, MD

indira bopche Thanks for the question. Utilize closed chain quad strengthening exercises such as leg press and squats. If pain persists, you may want to have an evaluation by an orthopedic surgeon to be sure you don’t have recurrent injury or degenerative arthritis.
