This song will be forever…. So good after 40 years!!!!! Thays crazy!!! When I was a teenager in the 90s anything 40 years before was basically Sinatra and jazz….. but to be in 2022 and reflect 40 years ago it was only the 80s!!!!! My mind always gets blown thinking about this.

1986 was a great year in so many ways. My sophomore year in high school. The 80's were the height of pop culture. Control was a hit machine and definitely put Janet on the map to stardom. The follow up Rhythm Nation 1814 was almost as good.
Great reaction. I was 22 when Control came out. The 80s was my favorite decade . This video in particular was one of my favs of Janet. Your son is not too off the mark with the Prince reference because the producers of the song Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis were part of Prince’s band before he fired them.

This reminds me of high school as well! 80s music doesn’t usually sound retro to me because I never stopped listening to it, but those orchestra hits sound retro to me. They were used more in late 80s dance music, which I liked, depending on the artist. Later Janet is pretty shocking compared to this! But I love it!

Honestly, in my experience the 80's in America were prosperous and pretty awesome ... from nike shoes and Michael Jordan on the Bulls to swatch watches, great concerts in the summer to traveling around States to Hollywood and Disney as a kid.... life could be very much kinda like Sixteen Candles, Pretty In Pink, Fast Times at Ridgemont High type stuff. I believe in Europe, UK, Australia maybe, Sports is played at the club level, in the US it's played at your SCHOOL from age 8 to College / University level, So alumni really drive the school association of sports crazed fans across the country. Your hometown or the City you reside really drives our Pro Sports affiliations. Go Dallas Cowboys !! 😎😎 Now Unfortunately also there's the negative like your families healthcare is associated with your job and America eats too much food, yikes so problems that suck just like anywhere else ... Thanks for reply. Great insight The 80s for me were fantastic and music was excellent new exiting times ahead movies. Aye made me want to see the world so I did. The Scottish folk have a very dry sense of humour and us as people are very friendly and proud will always want to tell about us as people and oor history a lot of waving of hands Texas av read has a lot of Scottish roots and more than 5 times the population!!
