- After nearly a month of testing the new Scribing system on the Dummy and in Content, here are my Top 5 picks for the BEST NEW SKILLS coming with Scribing when Gold Road, Update 42 goes live in June!
My overall take on this system is mostly positive. There are so many really cool scripts especially from the support perspective. You could make a viable loadout for any tank or healer class with nothing but Scribed abilities on your bar, I mean there are seriously so many awesome options that are going to shake up the Meta for endgame raiding. The damage value of the abilities are currently a bit underwhelming. Not one of the new 11 skills really match up in terms of damage output with anything that any class is currently running. There are some skills that will be situationally meta on damage dealers as the system stands, but I'd like to see the damage of every skill buffed before this goes live! My only other complaint currently is that the system is extremely grindy. I won't go into too much detail on this just yet, because I really doubt that this iteration of gaining scripts makes it to live, but I will be more vocal if we don't see changes by week 3/4! Overall, a fantastic new system that is going to be a lot of fun to mess with :)

Thanks for testing these out on the PTS, I would not like to have to do that scribing questline twice as you have to!
From what I've seen so far there is nothing for DPS that will change my 2 bar builds other than colours/styles. Hopefully over time they will balance these more closely with the existing skills thus offering a nice alternative to what we currently use. I'm going to be maxing it out on one character only but as it stands now I won't be using anything I've made and the real value of scribing will be obtaining and selling ink.
During my Lucent Citadel run I had Ulfsid, Soulburst and Menders BOnd on the healer already replaced a few skills. I agree with your on almost all. Mender is so strong in particular. :)

Great vid bro! I would love to know more about the class masteries.. how do they look atm heard they too need a buff? Would be interested to see your thoughts.
I think the class mastery’s do a good job of making up for weak points in every class, but they don’t do a good job of making classes relevant in the meta conversation.
The DK one looks really good for fights like Bahsei maybe but otherwise pretty underwhelming. I would hope that they expand on these in the future!
For PVE they are underwhelming but for PvP they can def fill gaps. And for tanks the class abilities can make more flexible builds
Do you know if you have to grind the Grimoires/Scripts on each character of if they are account-based. In your video I saw the Indrik as an "account upgrade" but how does it work out?
I have like 20 characters and only half has Psijic lines because of the tediousness of unlocking it.
As of now it looks character based. There’s a lot of feedback pushing against it though so I wouldn’t count on that being the case

Is this only in PTS currently? I mean it won’t effect me none, yet. But when I reach those levels and experience to where I will need these, I will hopefully have learned what all of this means.

Unlock for every character. Unlocking it really isn’t bad at all. What sucks right now is grinding scripts. There’s a lot of feedback being given though so I’d be shocked if it remains that way with scripts.
I wonder if any combination of these possibilities will make Dragon knight healers more popular in pugs.It’s not something that I need to see, but it feels like every couple of years I see someone give it a serious try.

So for a EC travellers knife would most likely outperform skulls in a way of pushing group DPS but slightly diminishing your own?

Any of them have a source of bleed or hemorrhage in there to help with the stack building along side trap
They do but they aren’t very good for keeping that status effect up

The same exact combo can’t be stacked, but different combos can be. It does not have to be double bar.

unfortunately, there aren't enough skills to make individual lists like that I think

I’d have to double check but I believe it can be a Stam bleed, what do you mean by talons?
Tbh it seems like healing/supp scribed abilities are all universally better than the damage ones. Which is great for us supports.

Because you said these are new abilities! via grimores.
They are new abilities that will replace old ones, I don’t think that bar setups for damage especially will change too much though.
Think of this system as a way to make up for anything that you feel your build might be missing. It’s supplementary.
What you will be able to do is change the style and color of current abilities by unlocking various collectables!
This was my interpretation as well. So far from what I've seen there isn't a single grim that's going to replace a class ability, all you can do to existing class abilities is make them purple, possibly other colours. However, it's fair to point out this is a new system and it would be wrong to start them off OP and then nerf them later, better to make them supplementary and gradually dial up the damage over a few patches.

Group Heroism in a skill rather than pots that cost a fortune, sounds meta to me
Unfortunately, portions still seem to be the most optimal way to source this buff
But rather too expensive for a lot of players.

As someone who ignores meta and does what plays fun this all sounds great but I already know thos unimaginative tryhards are going to ruin it by picking the one that does 1 more damage than the others

Personally I am a bit disappointed with scribing. It is going to be absolutely insane on tanks and healers, perhaps my old sorc tank might find it's way back into meta with some of the new skills, but dps wise....I wish they had done some stuff with AoEs that was more interesting.
I also main a plar and would sooner chew off my right foot than swap away from Puncturing Sweep as my main spammable, I mean, I will if I have too, but...idk. In PvP there is going to be a LOT of cool stuff, but with PvP I wish this was a little more thought out from a damage perspective. RPers are going to have a great time with it though.

I thought the abilities would be weak,and sure enough they are. This makes it feel very gimmicky.
Weak is relative, they don’t do a ton of damage but the utility especially for support is out of this world

There is no AOE taunt sadly :/
I like what I’m hearing here. Options for 12 man groups are limited, which means these abilities aren’t game breaking on the PvE side of things.
