- Filmed by TheCoasterViews, Thanks for watching. This is a Complete Experience of the updated Timber Mountain log ride, located at Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA
The Timber Mountain Log Ride orignially opened at Knott's Berry Farm in 1969, remains as one of the most elaborate log flume rides in the U.S. The much anticipated attraction opened on July 11, 1969 with film legend John Wayne taking the inaugural ride.
The $3.5 million attraction was originally funded entirely by its designer Bud Hurlbut who had previously designed Knott's Berry Farm's classic Calico Mine Ride. Hurlbut, a pioneer in the theme park attraction industry, wanted his flume ride to be a completely immersive experience.
The Calico Log Ride, as it was originally named, takes guests through an 85-foot tall mountain range themed to a nineteenth-century lumber camp. The ride, housed in an eight-story building, includes 24,000 gallons of water that circulates free floating logs past a variety of mechanical figures and taxidermied animals culminating in a 38 foot tall drop.
On January 7, 2013 the Log Ride was closed to undergo an extensive revitalization. Knotts worked with Garner Holt Productions to restore classic scenes, upgrade ride figures and sets as well as adding new scenes and characters to enhance the ride experience while still maintaining the original theming and storyline of the attraction. It reopened on May 30, 2013 to critical acclaim.
Thank you for showing the back view for us rollercoaster/ride nerds!!! You get a better appreciation of all the detail when you see how the ride looks from behind.
One of the first log rides in the world. We lived right around the corner and when the ride first opened in 1969 Knots Berry Farm was free. The park only had a handful of rides at the time. I remember waiting in a very long line to get on the ride and being scared of going down the final drop. It took $3.5 million to build the initial ride compare that to the $75 Million Plus Disney spent building Splash Mountain. Splash Mountain opened 18 years later. Given a bigger budget and better tech of course Splash is a better ride but it was also one of the last log rides to be build
FIRE IN THE HOLE!!! is my fav part!
If only after he said that, they use big speakers for a huge explosion sound.
That sounds kinda sus but ok
As a kid, who was raised in Long Beach CA, I have visited Knotts Berry Farm more than 120 times from 1976 to 1995. It's amazing how much it changed. I remember getting an annual pass for $65.00 for the entire year! Anyone ever go to the Calico Ghost Town out in the desert where they have that solar power station? Knotts owned that too! They tell you on the train tour that there is millions of dollars of silver sitting in the ore outside the mine, but it would take double that to process it.
Love this comment. Wish our family had more pictures from back in the day.
Thanks for showing the Log Ride in reverse. What an awesome POV
at six flags I went on a scary roller coaster I also went with my grandma and my grandpa it was very fun!!!!🙌😸😺✌👍
I remember a long time ago, I was riding this, and out of nowhere this man's voice said "SIT DOWN" and I totally freaked out!!! Like the new version!
What's wrong with you people so many negative comments???? THIS LOOKS BEUTIFUL
From my memories, this video just can't do this ride justice. Then again, Spring of 1980 was my last time there. And from what I recall correctly, I think I rode Timber Mountain like 15 times in a row.
A timeless classic.
Im comin in from pittsburgh on may 21st 2018 cant wait!
that was awesome, glad you showed it backwards too, that was cool!! thanks for sharing!
Fun!
Nice looking ride. Looks like all those Knott's scary farms paid off well over the year's. Since Six Flags closed the Log Jammer back in 2011, which was a favorite to many because it simply was a good ride with nothing but a natural foliage scenery to view, this here is a great addition for the west coast, especially on those hot summer nights.
Awesome video! I love water rides!
Such a better ride experience than Splash Mountain!
Docktor Jim to
Docktor Jim yeahhhh
I have went to six flags before and it was fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🐝☺😀😁😂😨
What is it with all the naysayers about this ride? Unfortunately, I have only visited the park once, when I was about 15 years old....memories of this ride have stuck with me all these years. The log flume at Six Flags Over Texas is boring compared to this, and being from Dallas, that is the amusement park I grew up with and had season's passes to every year. I remember being especially enamored with the forest scene on this ride. Totally cool. I guess today's kids are just too jaded.
Me and my friends went on this ride 6 times and we all screamed on both drops and made fun of each other when we saw the photos after the ride😀😀
I love this ride so much
looks like a good ride, well themed. Thanks for the video, love how you included the queue line and loading station.
Omg this ride is my childhood!
Same
this looks so awesome! I doubt I ever get to go here seeing I am from Baltimore Md. but I would love to go to K.B.F. sometime. thanks for posting =)
@Andrewtron29
This ride existed many years before Splash Mountain.
Almost exactly 20 years in fact. 1969-07-11 for Timber Mountain and 1989-07-15 for Splash Mountain. And in hindsight, it would have been super cool if Disney could have timed it to open 4 days earlier.
That ride looks awesome
I go there tomorrow can't wait!!!
I love log rides
very cool going backwards. thanks for this!!!
Best Ride Ever
Wow I went on this and I was in the front and its dark and u have a deep fall
I went on this ride in 1982 and some of the stuff is still the same!
This is the most Disney non-Disneyland ride out there in any theme park. I wish Knott’s continued this tradition (other than the mine train ride). It would have been great if their river rapids ride had this level of detailed theming.
Fun fact, this ride was inspiration for Disneys Splash Mountain
@@SlushysSecret yup!
I think I like it better backwards than forwards! Yes, nice theming. Must be motivated by the high bar set by the local competition. ;-)
Very eerie..
Cool Ride. (gonna have to go on that ride someday)
Seems to go a bit too fast to admire the scenery, but it still looks pretty fun
actually it goes at a decent speed on video it looks much faster than how it is in person
I swear, the vids make the drop look so much more tiny than in real life.
Still, cool ride! It is super fun :D
There was a screech when he got on that went "DUHDUHDUHDUHDUH!"
It might've worked in the 70's but that was over 4 DECADES ago.
this is the oG
webzinz genavieve, knotts berry farm and all its rides were made before disney and splash mountain
Thanks for this!
So beautiful
loved this ride! x3
Those 2 guys have been sawing the same log since the 1970s. Lazy.

Nice, just went on Monday and our log got flooded and my feet were soaked to the bone and had to wait all day for my feet to dry
Oh my awesome
i have never seen Knotts so empty like that
I just love your videos. How many rides have you been on all together? I'm guessing about 100 or more.
My class and I went on that ride for field trip. Sorry for bad grammar
yey finally a new video
Guau que divertida me di con mis hijas si puedo regreso de nuevo yupi yupi
this reminds me of splash mountain...
this came before splash mountain. It's the first themed log ride in the world and has a lot of history behind it
HiZzen RekT Wow, thank you!
@@Reybeeem 20 years and 4 days before, to be exact.
Cool =)
I live so close to knott’s I could literally walk there. And I know everybody in the comments is all like “well I think splash mountain is better”. Well I like this one better and I’ve been on splash mountain before.
itz leah sameeeeeeeeeee I agree
I like them both equally. Timber Mountain will always have a special place in my memories. I was briefly 10 again while watching this video. Disney just gave the log ride its own touch, no better nor worse than Knott's version. Then again, Song of the South has always been my favorite Disney flick since as long as I can remember.
No reason to have to pick one or the other.
I could have sworn that the inside "surprise" drop was much higher than that.
Actually splash mountain copied this.
Oh yeah 😂
Try as you might Knott's(to obviously redesign this ride after a certain water ride in Disneyland)but this ride doesn't even compare to Splash Mountain!!!!
It's at Knotts Berry Farm, in California.

'Fire in the hole!' and then it shoots out a log...
Sounds like Cheap Taco Night.
This is such a fun ride to make out on.
o_O
lucky you, unfortunately I doubt I would have had that kind of luck :(.
soul71000 Picking up chicks is like going fishing. A bunch of fish are going to reject your lure, but you if you keep on fishing, you will catch your fish. You just have to not take rejection personally. So what if a girl rejects you? So what? It doesn't mean anything. Wish them a nice evening and go talk to some other girl.
Often times the chicks that rejected you will suddenly want to talk to you if they see you talking to other girls.
that's not the first time I've heard that kind of advice but thanks.
soul71000 There's an old saying, "To key to success is to do what other successful people did."
Hey, it works for me. For every 9 girls that say no, 1 will say Yes.
I'm not a good looking guy. I'm not rich. I'm not funny or smart. It's all about confidence. You don't need it. You just need to look like you have it. Women are suckers for a confidence man. Never show fear. Never show anger. Never get offended. Never give up hope. Never forget you are a guy who has got his life together.
A lot of guys walk into a bar thinking they are a 5 or a 7 and that the girls are all 10s. You are gonna strike out with that attitude. You gotta remember that no girl is too good for you. Not even Shakira. Before you go into a bar, psych yourself out. Say out loud to yourself, "Any girl in this place would be lucky to have me for a boyfriend." Just keep on saying it until you believe it. Now walk into that bar like you own the place. The girls will be all over you. That glow of confidence is irresistible to women.
Nice shoes are always a big plus as well. Do you have feet? Women are all about shoes. It's the first thing they look at on a guy. Then maybe for white teeth.
If you've got white teeth, nice shoes and confidence.....I don't care if you are 400 pounds and bald....you are gonna meet some girls.
How big is the drops ? If anyone knows thank you
Wolf_ Brettski There not that high and big.
It's 42 ft. For comparison, Splash Mountain has a 52.5 ft drop.
0:50 she moves the log lol I think don't judge ok
Knotts Berry Farm, Anaheim, CA
Buena Park, California**
Disney is not worth the price they charge
Seems to dart quickly past the robotics, unlike something like Pirates where you get to take the details in.
it goes backwards now or you just filmed it backwards?
Ye wondering but it looks boring.
*nah not me not i... awesome for thrill-seekers...but this ride gave me worse phobia than haunted mansion* *xD*
Great Ride. Looks like it was at Disneyworld.
This came before splash mountain.
i will never go to disney world
What is your favorite ride at knotts berry farm
MOA FTW
They let you ride backwards ?!?!
I know, I said that Disneyland in France is always full of people. In the video you can see Knott's Berry Farm empty ! Read before talk
does the ride really go backwards?
if I can remember correctly it is a pain in the but to get in if you have a disability, I don't think then change that when they updated it
ft of the most part of the most part of the most part
Hello Vanellope
do you have to go backwards
Well it is not Disney quality, but it still looks fun.
Knotts Berry Farm looks very slow. In many other videos it shows how slow they are as well. How can they stay in business?
Also they do not keep their water track very clean and kept up.
They modified it this winter so it goes slower so you can see the robots and the drop is steeper
They can't just magically modify a fixed amusement ride, designed in the sixties where it would not have been possible, to make it steeper. It's designed a certain way for a certain reason. Have a little common sense.
I went there 9 times
He is not going back wards he is just turning the camera of the back of him (duh?)
Wow those people in the ride...you know in the dark, they realistic that Idk if they're real or not.
Theyre fake
I wish it actually went backwards like that 😨😣😰😥😪😭
i think he just sat backwards
There was barely a line!! When did you go??
Sence kids have school that might be why and he is over the age of 18
Wy is the park empty ?? In france, Disneyland is always full !
