- In this video, we take you one hour north of Brisbane to Currimundi Lake - situated between Caloundra and Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast. After lunch at a local café, we follow the path around the calm waters and golden sands of Currimundi Lake which connect to the ocean at Currimundi surf beach. It's a great place for rowing boats, canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and swimming. The lake is also a local fishing spot and the beach is a popular spot for skydivers to land.
We then drive 10 km north to Point Cartwright Lighthouse to take in the most exceptional views of the surrounding area. We can see Mount Coolum, Maroochydore, Mooloolaba and ships passing by on their way to the Port of Brisbane. The balustrade around the edge of the cliff has memorial plaques remembering lost loved ones.
We finish the afternoon with a coffee at Mooloolaba Beach and reminisce about working and living nearby 12 years ago.....

Hi, we're Beth & Paul from Brisbane, Australia and we love to travel!
Paul retired on 28th February 2020 and on the 1st March 2020, we set out on a 6-month adventure around South East Asia. This was a well-planned once-in-a-lifetime travel experience! It was our intention to show you how you can have a great time travelling without spending a fortune.
Our timing wasn't great - with the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus and subsequent global turmoil less than a month into our trip.
Until it is safe to travel internationally again, we turn our focus on travelling around Australia and sharing everything our beautiful country has to offer!

We retired in 2019 to travel the world. Like you we didn’t get very far before Covid hit. We now live in Caloundra and we love Currimundi lake. The walk from Duckie Beach to Currimundi lake is one of our favourites.
Hi Sue, we’re sorry that your retirement travel plans ended quickly and understand how disappointed you must have been. One saving grace is that we live in a beautiful part of the world….and our regular walks remind us of that don’t they? That walk between Dickie Beach and Currimundi Lake is a ripper 🤗
