  • Overcoast is thrilled to present our latest Overcoast Session with Richmond, VA's Inter Arma
Appearing courtesy of Relapse Records, Inter Arma pull off an earth-shaking performance of the nearly eight-minute “An Archer In The Emptiness” from their 2017 album Paradise Gallows amidst a suitably massive backdrop of stone, steel, earth, and water fit for a Hollywood remake of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Filmed and recorded live at the Byrd Park Pumphouse in support of the Virginia Tourism Corporation's "Virginia Is For Lovers" campaign

They mix a lot of elements from different extreme metal genres. There's some death, some sludge, a little bit of black. Hell, they also have some dope Southern Rock interludes.

Agreed, This is not your average metal sound. It has elements of Doom/Sludge, Psychedelia, black metal, Death metal, post-rock, wall of sound/Drone, and noise. Its Tribal. Apocalyptic. It's Avant garde. Transgressive. Otherworldly. To me the sound is orchestral in its power. SWANS, Godflesh, Neurosis, Gorguts, SUNN O)) and Ulcerate. Inter Alma takes those concepts and mutates it.
