- In this video I walk through how I use Google Chrome and a variety of websites as part of my investment process. This is the first of two long tools videos - if you can only watch one, I recommend watching the other spreadsheet video. Recorded on 6/23/20.
- 1:30 Google Chrome
--- 2:26 Bookmarks
--- 3:34 Search engines
--- 5:10 Extensions & Stockcharts
- 13:59, 39:48 OpenInsider - insider transactions for US firms. A cool feature I forgot to mention in this video: hovering over a ticker opens the respective chart. This is useful for quickly screening.
- 14:43 WhaleWisdom - stock ownership data
- 16:40 Tracking 13Fs, individual investors, & publicly available stock research
- 22:18 SEC.gov, Chrome Inspect tool
- 26:05 SeekingAlpha
- 29:05 Twitter
- 32:30 FINRA bonds
- 35:14 Moody's
- 36:42 Investing.com
- 41:41 InsiderTracking.com - insider transactions for Canadian firms
- 44:27 Scanning chartlists
- 46:52 Google Sheets functions, Google Apps Script, Google forums, StackOverflow
The Roaring Kitty channel revolves around educational live streams where I share my daily routine of tracking stocks and performing investment research.
My investment style involves continually tracking thousands of stocks using a variety of widely available tools. When opportunity strikes - as it occasionally does in markets comprised of biased humans - I’m prepared to pounce and capitalize on the situation. I'm probably best classified as a fundamentals-focused deep value investor, though I find I'm increasingly leaning on technical analysis for screening, timing, and tracking stocks. In the years ahead I look forward to honing my portfolio management approach by acquiring bolt-on skillsets and further developing my approach to risk management.
Some of the tools I use: Google Chrome, Chrome extensions & search engines, Google Sheets / Google Apps Script / StackOverflow, StockCharts, insider buying via OpenInsider, stock ownership via WhaleWisdom, SEC filings via sec.gov, SeekingAlpha, Twitter, Quandl / Sharadar, and bond prices via FINRA.
The Roaring Kitty channel and live streams are for educational purposes only. I share my approach to investing in an effort to set you on the right path to building out your own investment process. I don't provide personal investment advice or stock recommendations during the stream. Please understand that my style of investing is extremely aggressive and I take on a substantial amount of risk. It's likely my approach would not be suitable for you. If you're seeking personalized advice, I encourage you to sit down with a financial professional who can review your personal situation, financial background, risk tolerance, etc. Check out the Roaring Kitty disclaimer video for more information: • Roaring Kitty - Discla...

Who's watching in 2024? Love this guy. Discovered him from the GameStop hype that's going on.
The funny thing is GME as it stands right now doesn’t even fit his investment criteria. He pumped and dumped on you guys. He’s kind but not kind enough to hold back the temptation of being a billionaire and robbing the sheep in the process
yeah I like this style, do you have any other good recommendations? There is Peter Lynch audiobooks here on youtube which are a similar style of value invest (not exact same as DFV but same “zip code”)
same lol, I found him off of Benjamin's channel
This guy is the bob ross of investing. I love it.
Well said!
“There are no mistakes, just happy accidents.”
Boom! Spot on
He deserves his riches, 100%.
At first I was interested in learning how to invest but honestly I'm just listening to his voice at this point. It's kind of soothing, and if I learn something then great.
Who’s here today😅never too late to catch the past waves when we couldn’t afford a phone. Great guy this is🎉
Genuinely a wholesome person. I can’t believe he’s been hunted by big money and the MSM.
I am almost depressed I didnt find out about you earlier, such a down to earth and humble guy and not the typical GROWTH CZcamsR with edgy titles and thumbnails and shit content with hundreds of k's of subs... you are a legend in the community man, I listened to two hours of your videos today and you hit the nail on the head. Like a guy said here in the comments, you are the Bob Ross of investing. Much love to you and your family, wish you the best. Greetings from Sweden.

Me too brother, I wish I found out about him earlier. Not for the GME, but because THIS content is truly informative and really interesting to see. He deserves every penny.

yeah for real, this guy is a gold mine of good info, glad we got these time capsules to see his thought processes.
he is so wholesome
you're the first trader I've seen talk about what they do with a blindingly sunny disposition, thankful for all the resources and I love it
This is so dope. I’ve been starting to implement the spreadsheets and shortcuts into my routine. Long ways to go, but it’ll be worth it in the long run.

I believe he left already, which sucks, but I don't blame him
Sucks that he was doxxed. Weirdos and con artists come out of the woodwork. People who've ended up in his situation have to hire someone just to go through their mail. People following him anytime he leaves the house. etc. And he has his 2-year-old daughter to think about which adds to the anxiety for a dad.

This man deserves every penny. Seems like such a humble, nice dude, just trying to share his knowledge with everyone else. Very well put together.
The fact that his name is 'Rory Kittenger' in stock charts is so great
Holy! No wonder why he was so sure of GME and is worth millions now. This guy poured his heart and soul into the stock market.
His original plan "to keep these videos short and concise so people watch them" didn't work out, so he thought it would be easier to bankrupt a hedge fund instead.
LOL
He was already on GME at this point.
I completely revamped my browser after watching this. Roaring kitty I really appreciate your willingness to share your learning and I hope to one day do the same!
same here lol
Hey buddy look at gopro, thank me later
I have never, ever, seen anyone more deserving of pulling off this great feat. Reading thru reddit, it seemed as if you wanted to stick it to the man. Though none of the comments that reflected that were YOURS. But watching your videos, it's a love of the game, respect for the players and dedicated teacher in you that pulled that off. Brought tears to my eyes at your humility. Don't EVER let them steak that from you ❤️
Pleasantly surprised at this man's humility. I'm learning so much from these videos. I know most wish they had discovered you before the GME saga but the lessons here are even more important when applied properly. Thank u sir & all the best to u and your cause 🙏🏾🚀
I'm going to write a custom program for us to use, you said we don't have a platform, I'm going to make it. I'll start with what you are presenting and put together some analysis and then put together a program. We could fully automate every thing you do, and have it open anything you want and store things in database so you can run queries and cross reference. I didn't know what I wanted to do w my life having gone John Galt but THIS is it! I can return to our community this way and now I have a purpose.
LMK if anyone else interested, I mainly do PowerBuilder Programming which most people probably aren't familiar with usually government, military and corporations use this software for business applications. I'm so fired up now.
I'm SO interested!! Please post on Reddit's r/superstonk. Thank you so much!
Did you follow through?
This guy is a fucking legend and so down to earth
I started crying when the last live stream kicked on. You’re a golden buzzer, RK. YOU have deep value.
I am genuinely delighted to find that the GME YOLO guy is A) a serious investor with a deep understanding of fundamentals analysis, and B) such a humble, down-to-earth person. This is incredibly helpful content, and it's inspiring me to get back into the game. Thanks RK!
This video: proof that buying/selling on the stock market isnt gambling
I'd argue it is to some extent because we can't see into the future and just base assumptions on past experiences. There's always a chance that we can be wrong but we bet on our judgement.
Far from normal gambling where risks can't be controlled usually.
@@rolandcucicea6006 doesn’t that mean any single thing you do can be quantified as a gamble though? There has to be a line between an informed decision and risk taking surely otherwise you could quantify everything as gambling and ban anything.
For example, spending months researching a company in depth and picking it based on that vs picking your favourite football team because they’re winning a lot at the moment.
@@CardinalHijack according to Merriam Webster, this is the definition of gambling: a: to play a game for money or property
b: to bet on an uncertain outcome
This conversation reminds me of the word "drug". To the common folk, coffee and cigarettes don't fall under the "drug" category, but, by definition, they're clearly drugs (as coffee contains the alkaloid caffeine and cigs contain nicotine).
My point is that we learn mostly by association and once a term in deeply rooted into our being based on certain experiences we become biased towards our own truth.
Trading stocks could be seen as a game played for money. Definiton of game:
a)physical or mental competition conducted according to rules with the participants in direct opposition to each other.
When you buy options for example, if you "call" you play against the traders who "put". There are clearly defined rules in trading and there is a huge element of chance, but yes, you do have a point by underlining the practice of research, however that only mitigates the risk, doesn't eliminate the uncertanty of the outcome. You could argue that "company X has been on an uptrend for 20 years and the projection for the next year based on revenue and other factors indicates that the stock will continue the trend. Well, think about 2008's market crash. How unexpected of a phenomena that was.
@@rolandcucicea6006 if we’re going to go by definitions, the stock market is not a game by the definition of game or the definition of stocks/market/business, so your entire point is moot.
@@CardinalHijack I don't see why it isn't a game since it incapsulates a mental competition defined by rules with participants in opposition to each other. The balance in your account, while it has real life consequences, can be seen as a "score". Some brokerage platforms even rank the traders according to the ROI, hence you got a leaderboard. I agree to disagree with you mate. Pro tip: when you have a point to make, try not to attack the opposition ("your whole point is moot") until you've declared and proven your own stance, but rather create a strong case against your interlocutor, try to understand why they'd think the way they do, I'm all in for a logical, amical and objective debate.
If you wanna continue this, your next move should be proving me that the stock market isn't a game by the official definition of the word "game".
Cheers for the entertainment btw, rarely do I feel any sort of intellectual engagement in YT's comment section haha. Kudos to you
10 minutes in and i love to see how much you just love to play the game. open up a fund, i'm in.
He said he wants to give away / share his knowledge with everyone so we can all benefit from it. He has the right mind set and is applying the Universal Law of Karma - what you give out/away for free without expecting anything in return, the Universe will return 10 folds what you gave away. He received his huge returns from recent GME rally!

you not only seem to have expertise but also that you draw happiness out of sharing that expertise with people and i love you for that
I just want to say, thank you for sharing your resources and insight on your process, i am learning so much from this.
Here's another speed tip for you. You can use cmd + shift + [ or ] and it will allow you to traverse leftwards and rightwards through all the tabs you currently have open. Left barack goes left, right bracket goes right. It also loops back around to the furthest left tab if you're traversing rightwards and hit the very end. You can also use cmd + 1 or any other number in the range of 1 through 9 and it will take you to that nth tab. If you have more than 9 tabs open it approximates where that position is within your sea of tabs. I'm not sure what the Windows equivalent hot keys are.
