I really really hope the Dare book helps me, I've had panic attacks for over 20 years. The sensation that truly TERRIFYS me is the feeling that I'm falling/being pulled down. I really hope that I can use these techniques to be OK with that feeling

What a great way to explain all the 4 parts for DARE. Just watched it while feeling anxious and it actually made a difference! Exceptional! Thank you so much! Much love ❤️

Great explanations - thank you. I am dealing with pain - I guess it's easy to imagine that pain is the worst and others probably feel just as bad to those who have them. Thanks again.

I needed this! I am still distracting. Turning away - running.

This is fantastic. You explained it better than anyone and I realize now I was trying to ‘fix’ instead of moving to Engage. Thank you so much ❤

How can you focus and pay attention to new things being thrown at you on the first day of a job for example, when your alarm, thoughts, sensations, etc are so loud they’re taking all of your mental space? Like you may be DAREing but that’s taking a lot of mental space and energy because the alarm is so loud that you have a hard time focusing on learning or doing the new tasks at hand. And you have to pay full attention to what’s going on in the job because it’s important obviously. I’ve also had the same experience when I was just trying to enjoy myself and pay attention to what’s going on in a movie. Lol anxiety is like that annoying friend who talks during the whole movie. Like sure I can just let you be there and keep doing my thing but it’s hard as hell to focus and listen to the movie when it won’t stop blabbing.

Hi Dave this is Michelle, we have a video posting soon about hearing vs. listening. Listening meaning actively engaging in and giving attention to what you hear.
The premise is even though something is loud doesn't necessarily mean it's important, nor does it mean you must actively direct your attention towards it. Sure it may grab your attention, but again, you can HEAR something without sitting there LISTENING to it all day.

Yes, that's a great video. The bear with the torch represents the Amygdala, the fear centre, the fire alarm of the brain which sounds when it thinks danger is about.

Will this work when you have a nervous breakdown during a job interview? You're allowing these comfortable feelings while you're engaging in the interview.

It's the same principle, you are fighting the IDEA OF WHAT IF people think of you a certain way...it's the FIGHT...DARE teaches you how let go of the FIGHT OF those thoughts.

So accepting it and then cleaning the house... Is cleaning the house distracting or engaging? I'm confused.
