I would say that describes a lot of my life, but then I realized that they were all learning opportunities. 🤣
Why are Matt's videos so good? Because they are not bullshit, faked or blown out of proportion, making stupid mistakes on purpose to upscale the shock factor. This is genuine, mistakes on the fly. Mistakes anybody can make, because the decisions we make are often based on chance and luck. You just never know how much worse a situation can get and this one went from bad to really bad.
I've never seen anyone as patient as Matt. It was surprising to see him _almost_ lose his cool that first night. What a class act.
Happens to anyone. Can happen to anyone. Make one wrong decision. And it’s just a snowball effect, you get stressed, rushed etc
the only youtuber i've seen thats more patient than Matt, is Andrew Camarata
What about 9:18 lol and he is the one that ducked up.

Don’t forget the cinematic effects all the outdoor type reality tv shows like to use, the good old dramatic music and then shake the piss out of the camera to make whatever happened look worse. And to show a snippet of that 15 times in the show before it gets to that point. Cue in additional fake crashing sounds effects to boot.

Especially these days. Could have easily buried or deleted the video but he has too much integrity.
@@KRT045 Agreed. Huge respect for showing failure as well as success on this channel. As you say, could have easily not even uploaded the video to only show the good stuff to promote their company. Not losing my respect for Matt any time soon.
Great point. I watched Paul’s video of this recovery first,(sorry MORR). The Fab Rats version did not indicate any struggle the night before. We can all learn more about recoveries and being better humans.
@@jeffreeves8848 In fairness, Fab Rats not only posted their video first, but also were not there for the first night.
Evan Webber, I know. Chances are Matt and crew shared a few battle stories over breakfast after this one was finished. I think with the mutual respect these two have for each other, Paul wanted the story to be told Matt’s way. Two of my favorite channels.
Being a snow skier in NW Washington state since the 1980's, we up here understand those conditions very well. I love you guys and your videos. Chains on every wheel, even non driven wheels will get you home most all the time...

hey guys, for snow rescues, get yourselves some aluminum avalanche shovels. a little bit of shoveling in these snow scenarios will save you a lot of gas, wear on your vehicles, and especially time.
This is the best channel on CZcams. Wish I had friends like these guys
Matt doesn't make many mistakes, but when he does, he makes them all at the same time!
The Dos Equis man.
When ya panic... ya panic
Big mistake thinking he was going up there without ice chains!!!!!!
Being from Michigan, I have seen and made all these mistakes - Except for the bad dismount of the banana. The fact that you are willing to show your mishaps makes it all the more fun to watch.
Lol same. My greatest moment was my semi breaking down on the ambassador bridge in a blizzard during morning rush hour, then having to explain to my company based out of AZ that you can't send a tow, the bridge has to, because it's an international crossing
I’m a former Michagander too, I’ve been there too. The big difference is Michigan snow has many times more water in it meaning it turns to ice quicker, and is MUCH heavier to shovel!
I'm from Texas, we get snow once a year and the whole town turns into a demoliton derby 😆
I knew the weather was going to be really bad when I saw Matt wearing a coat at the beginning of the video. 😂
Kinda wonder why they don't have tire chains.
"this is as bad as it gets but it's gonna keep getting worse" lololololol
lol, that was as prophetic as anything Nostradamus ever uttered, perhaps even more so
What I like about Matt is, first what ever is going on he is calm and patient with his crew and customers and second when he makes mistakes he’s big enough to take full ownership of them.
He's a good leader. Leads by example
I rhoufht you had a snow cat for these high altjobs in snow ??
I've never seen this channel. Is Matt the guy in orange? Around 9:15, he made it sound like the guy needed to stop and then kept fussing because he stopped. He seemed pretty unreasonable.

I love that Matt doesn't have an ego and even lets us see the mistakes so we can all learn from our heated rooms at home 😜
@B Dean Great story. A little unnerving how they ventured two hours out, at 9k',at night, in a snowstorm, with a full crew and the customers. Times like yours and this case are seasoning that add richness to life.
Add to that no injuries so ultimately all involved take a piece of posterity home with them... forever at the cost of some fuel a tire and few hours labor. Authentic adventure.
@B Dean Boys will be boys.
I don’t even have a fraction of their recovery expertise, but you know what I do have? Gloves and good flashlights.
Maybe some tire chains ?
Or snow chains...
I live in the foothills of the Sierras and the sign on the state highway reads, all year, "Chains may be required at any time, carry chains."
There are often times when chains are required and enforced even for 4wd with snow tires. IOW I always carry chains.
@@grantdavis5992 Utah law permits the use of studded snow tires between October 15th and March 31st as well as chains.
@@AudioFreqx studded tires are nice....casual driving on ice. Matt would throw the studs on his first recovery. Chains are great, however digging in as they do during the rescue will destroy them too. A load of sand would help, but it’s heavy. All these options, I guess it all depends on your mission in the snow.
Well worth the 2.1M views on this video. Team work, team spirit, taking responsibility, getting heads together in a pinch without any heads flying. Well done!
Well the ad revenue probably at least paid for that tire lol
Really good series. A little ironic that Matt has everything possible on the job...except tire chains. One of the best episodes.
“This is as bad as it gets, but it’s gonna keep getting worse”

ah yes! the comment I was looking for! They should make this the new quote on their shirts. This also fits really well with a military background haha
@@lucl1258 I keep hollering "tire chains"
Can't you people hear?
@@TheBandit7613 and I keep asking where are your shovels.
@@TheMrpiggyboy that's true, do they even carry some!?
@@TheBandit7613 Right? Nobody in that entire crew, on that run, had so much as a pair of chains, a pair of traction boards, or a pair of shovels? And they said in the beginning that they knew in advance there was a big storm rolling in, because they were planning on beating it that very morning.
This thing didn't go off the rails on top of a mountain in the dark, it happened back at the shop during load up...
I know Matt wishes things would've gone different but these types of videos are exactly why I continuously watch this channel

This is a pretty good show for sure. I have been glued to many episodes. I love watching them get vehicles unstuck. I also love the background on how they built their different trucks. Very interesting and entertaining.
As an Alaskan with a whole lifetime of wheeling in snow. When someone needs a recovery in winter conditions the single most important piece of gear you can have is a full set of tire chains.
@@andrej5861 Yeah, chains would have probably solved the problem.
@@andrej5861 Absolutely ! I keep 7mm straight square link chains in my Jeep in the colder months.
I was wondering if chains were a thing in USA. In my country they are mandatory for winter and snowy conditions. Not only that, but we have to keep winter tires and summer tires as separate sets. Although we did have a strong winter a decade ago when army had to go in with tanks and drag people off of flat roads. 🤣
I tore up so many regular chains I finally made semi chains and shorten them to fit my big tires on my 3/4 ton truck
