So true! It also makes me think about how many people are in relationships yet are not vulnerable with each other. Vulnerability is hard for sure. Even with ourselves, but I do think it is so worth it.

When it comes to Priya, I totally see where she's coming from, I think it comes from fear of being excited to meet what you thought is your "match" only for it to go cold! So many guys out there love bomb hard, and dissapear as quickly as they "fell in love". She's being careful and guarding herself from heartbreak.
yes totally! actually i can see where they are ALL coming from. finding your partner, for me personally, is one of the biggest challenges in life...but i'm anything but a quitter :)

Strong boundaries (e.g.don't get physical, dont text endlessy, get calls and actual dates instead) and date many people at the same time until tou have clarity ans certainty. It would save you a lot of unnecessary anxiety and heartbreaks. Good luck!
Trust in yourself that whatever happens, you'll get through it and that when your intuition says something, you will listen to it and fact-check with reality.

I think its an indian thing. Most indians are very attached to their parents esp if theyre an only child. Im in the same situation.
I think Rushali has never had any close female friendships growing up and even now and that's one of the reasons she clings to her mother.

At least two of Rishali's besties are secretly in love with her, coz she only has guy friends and identifies as "not like other girls" growing up as tomboy. I've found women who are like that to have serious vulnerability issues around other women. She fears being abandoned again after being shipped off to boarding school at age four.

I'm a new, huge fan of your channel and wait on pins and needles for every new video drop. I truly love your analysis of everyone from Indian Matchmaking to Love is Blind bcos you always hit the nail on the head.
I feel everyone on the Indian Matchmaking show is like Goldilocks... "Oh he's too this... She's too that." Despite Sima Auntie presenting them with nearly 90% of what they told her they wanted in a partner. My perception of why they self sabotage is bcos most of them have not healed from their past trauma and learned self love. And bcos they are unhealed, they are still only attracted to the toxicity they had before.

I definitely have a fear of losing myself because I did that in my last relationship, and I was blindsided when it ended after 12 years. I was upset, but I had to admit that I didn't fully show up for myself.
i hear you. that fear can be paralyzing. i find that it helps to name it and even laugh it. finding a way to see how ridiculous our self-sabotage is

Thanks Indie for another great video! Do you know Harville Hendrix? He wrote a very interesting book. His theory is that we recreate those childhood dramas with our partners to try to heal. So, controlling mother might mean marrying a controlling man with the hope that he will see you as a person with your own wishes and desires not a "thing" to be controlled. But, of course that never works as you have to heal yourself first. I'm simplifying his theory but you get the point, girl! These cases you pointed out have some of these repeated patterns. Wish I could travel to see your shows! Good luck!

Girl, you didn't need to call me out like that. 😅 I'm going to therapy today to talk about all the shame I feel about my horrible love life and being constanly single. I have been avoiding it for a long time. I'm 36 and worked through so much trauma and grown a lot so I finally feel I wouldn't run away or sabotage a relatioship but there is still a lot of fear of rejection and abandonment plus this feeling I missed out on all the oportunities to meet someone and that I am not lovable. I know a lot of it is not rational but it's hard when parents were traumatised and totally unheathy themselves.

This perfection is exactly why I have no self acceptance and I take myself out of any equation or possibility of a relationship. I have accepted my non acceptance of self and being alone for the rest of my life. Watching your videos makes me want to unload all my life problems.
yeah perfectionism is truly a prison...making weekly videos on youtube has actually allowed me to drop the perfectionism....when i used to make traditional films, my focus was always on getting everything to be "perfect" because in films we are allowed to spend years on a project but being on a platform like youtube has forced me to let go of obsessing over every detail and just make content that's enjoyable

When I meet a new guy I get the worst relationship anxiety. Overthinking everything from what to say to how to look. It’s so exhausting that of course the relationship comes to a fast halt and thats when I feel relief

I think Aparna is an undiagnosed nuerodivergent individual. Same as me. I wasnt diagnosed with ADHD till I was over 40 years.
She may be on the spectrum of something else, but there is something there for sure!

yeah makes sense for her to be on the spectrum. she's got that brutal honesty and baby like quality that's usually there with spectrum folk. i actually love Aparna a lot. i find her sweet and loveable, albeit it in a different way

Great video. I would speculate that Priya has an insecure attachment style from childhood which means she is not used to secure and open people like Vimal. Its not familiar to her and she freaks out because he is not blowing hot and cold. He's being consistent and that is unfamiliar to her and therefore it irritates her, because she thinks as you said, he should follow the script that she is used to.

hmmm what you said about fear of misinterpreting signs is very familiar to me....if it's any consolation, i think that happens because we are still in the baby stages of figuring out intimacy...it's still wobbly and scary...and not much self-trust...i like to think it gets better

If we consider Donald Nathanson's definition of shame being a rupture in the interpersonal bridge, then all of these women experience shame in their inability to establish a genuine connection with others. A common reaction is to attack self, like perfectionism, or attack other, by being critical or judgmental. Thanks for the content.

Jewish Matchmaker is a lot better. I actually learned many things
i hear ya. I'm 44 and even though I was in one long term relationship in my life, i've been single for a while and i actually can't wait to practice everything i learned from my past relationship in a new one
@Indie Nile my last relationship ended in March 2020. We dated 2 ½ years and he's the only person I've ever really loved... I'm a serial monogamous. I don't want to date anyone else ever again. I wish I was excited about dating again. Maybe someday. Maybe not

Can you also do one of these about the men on the show? Doesn’t feel fair to only analyze the women.
i only analyze people that speak to me and i feel connected to on some level. the men on the show were a little too boring to be honest. none of them caught my attention. my analysis isn't about being fair and pointing out everyone's mistakes equally. i pick up on issues that i feel i have, regardless of the gender of the person i'm analyzing. there was one guy on season 3 who reminded a little of myself 20 years ago when i was in denial about being gay. i'll let you figure out which one that is ;)
