8:00 no where in the contract stipulates he can't use subcontractors either , Yurgir is certainly way over his head when he is dealing with Raphael
Yeah just got to free Yurgir by killing Raphael later on. The dude may be a great fighter but a solicitor he is not.
Yurgir is a complete pushover when it comes to negotiations. Here Raphael screws him over, but in other playthrough you can talk him into killing himself and all his servants. And even after you do this to him and he realizes he was taken advantage of, in act 3 you can still persuade him switch sides and fight for you.
Well there's the part where it says he has to kill anyone else he tells about the contract.
Making a deal with the rats seems to make the quest uncompletable. You get the worthless junk cache, but can't end Yugir's contract. The quest so seems to stay in uncomplete "complete" status. Makes no sense. Yugir just has animal, attack or leave options open. Unfinished quest thread on pc.
FYI you can just use the elevator thing to go down to the library if you fixed the lever up top
Mine is messed up. I only get 1 rat to kill and nothing else comes. It keeps saying "squeee". But nothing comes

I didn't attack the rat on my first encounter, does that mean I cannot complete the quest?
I have no idea what I’m doing wrong or if my game is bugged but every time I kill the rat it just dies the dialogue doesn’t continue. I’ve tried killing all the rats as well and the thing never turns into the guy

@@chwy4skn792 yeah I ended up just going back and making the devil guy kill himself so I didn’t have to keep running around lmao. Literally tried to do it for like 3 hours
I can’t even make him kill himself - just not getting the dialogue options 🙃
@@SheIIee you convince him to kill his guards then convince him to kill the panther then the option to for him to kill himself will pop up. I used gale for the rolls and still had to get a perfect 20 on all 3 options. Took me about a hour.
This is a really helpful video the drops from Justiciar amazing for both Astarion and Shart. One thing to add if you have Astarion with your party and he has met Rapahel before entering mausoleum after saving yurgir his approval plummets fyi.
Just tested this, it does not plummet. I freed the orthon and Astarion's approval went from 57 to 56 there's barely any actual impact, it's not even visible if you just look at the meter
Not unless you are romancing Astarion. If you are he will unfortunatley friendzone you. This happened in my second run and didnt realize until the Kiss option wasn't there. He also addresses you differently (more friendly than flirty) So I had to do the whole area again.@@robingoodfellow8097
How do you stop astarion from meeting raphael before entering the mausoleum?
Lol thanks for the heads up. I think Astarion might just stay dead while in the shadowlands until I help yurgir. They revive him afterwards so he does not become so damn whiny
Update 5/3/2024, breaking Yurgir's contract will get nothing in return: no hellfire crossbow, no corpses loot, only gem and few normal items.
I messed this up by attacking the rats earlier and then telling them I wouldn't attack them. Had to start a new play through.

it's probably because you attacked them before by the elevator, if you go and kill them, the horde should spawn at the bottom. (worked for me)
There any future ramifications to either one? Like, does he actually come back to kill us?
For anyone on ps5, the quest is bugged, and you are unable to break the contract.
I just noticed this was from 1 hour ago. Damn it, was hoping to get this done before I went to work. I'm gonna have to wait till they hotfix this.

Same happened to me. If you leave the rat upstairs alive, just go back and kill them to trigger the fight

Yo i killed some rat in the beggening now im stuck they dont spawn help please
FOR ANYONE STUCK ON PS5. Right before you jump across the broken stairs, split from your party and only go in with your main character. Steal the gem and this will initiate a fight. Once you have inevitably been killed, switch to another member of your party and revive your main character. They will still have the gem on them and Yurgir will also no longer attack you. You can simply walk away with the gem and carry on with your story. Have fun. If you try this and it doesn’t work please ask me some questions as I’ve done this and I know it works 100%.
Why don’t my rats doesn’t spawn? I killed a few and than ran after the others I got the cutscene but nothing appeared. I tried by not killing them and the same happened.

I didn't even know you could talk to him, I was scouting the temple with a raven familiar and got jumpscared by devil firing squad when I tried to move the gem laying on the ground. He yelled something along the lines of "finally some fresh meat" and killed the familiar in one shot so I figured this was the monster Raphael and the notes lying around were talking about. Made me incredibly cautious in the entire temple area and I learned how to use stealth. Eventually I snuck up on him and blasted him with lightning bolts and barely made it out mostly alive.
I had problems with beating his troup so I tried to get the jewel anther way simpy by using Telekenesis and let it float directly to me.😆
What if it doesn't work. No one says anything when I read the book and the rat doesn't spawm

How do you have +6 proficiency bonus? I know you can get expertise, which doubles your proficiency bonus, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.
Found out - playing the game on story mode doubles the proficiency bonus.
To be honest......... This is what I did in my first playthough! I hate Raphael with a BURNING PASSION! He reminded me of another character in another game that I used to hate so much! I NEVER EVER took any of Raphael's deals! I saved Yurgir, at the cost of getting one of the best Hand Crossbows in the game, and then killed Raphael is his house! Sweet sweet revenge for all the ire he caused me throughout my playthrough!
On the other hand all those hanged and mutilated corpses convinced me to kill Yurgir.

I had no idea you could actually help Yurgir. I persuaded him to kill everyone and himself but then persuaded him to fight with me against Raphael when I got to the House of Hope
But what happens if you fail the arcana check at the alter? All my party failed.
Try going to camp and changing party members and try with them.
What happens if you tell him about Raphael helping the cultist?

I save scumed and fled from the fight aginst the last justiciar to try and go let yurgir know where the last one was at, to avoid raphaels loophole but theres no voice option to let him know hes in the pit unfortunately :/
Yeah, I knocked him out but had no success either. I guess Raphael always wins😢
For other ps5 players its still bugged at best u can trigger cutscene and nothing happens

Yeah it is really buggy.
On ps5 my rat always die, the closest thing to do it was to throw away the rat, then the cinematic starts and it ends abruptly and the rat appears dead.
For me i killed the rat and nothing happens after cinematic scene
Thinking the issue for those not seeing the rat spawn, if you killed any of the ones at the beginning no more will spawn anywhere else.

if you keep Yurgir alive, he'll be at Raphael's side if you decide to confront him in Act 3. By doing a persuasion check you can convince Yurgir to join your fight against Raphael and his minions.
You can kill him (in any way you like) in act 2 to get the crossbow and in act 3 persuade him to join and be your ally. Helping him ends his contract and he'll just join in act 3, but no crossbow.
The crossbow is meh
@@antioch1975 It's alright on classes that like to sneak and use a lot of stealth. Or people who have the option of going invisible somehow. Very lackluster on anyone else.

just to let you know we don't go in that at lvl 12 like you did so we can't do what you can and we aren't going to get to the lvl to do that either.
My plan is to help Yurgir, then kill him for experience points as Yurgir is so evil as evidenced by the mass of bodies nearby. I'll deal with Raphael in due time after he assists Astarion decipher the markings on Astarion's back 😊.
The bodies nearby are those of Sharrans, right?

The rat didn’t spawn on me
Now that explains the rat dude. I walked around him and got instantly aggroes so I just assume that I’m supposed to kill him there

I was amazed.
On my second playthrough, I decided to kill all the rats and the last justiciar that they become at the bottom of the giant Shar statue.
When I finally got into Yurghir's lair, I didn't have to fight him at all.
Raphael shows up and tells him he didn't actually fulfill his contract, so they had to go back ro the House Of Hope to draft a new one.
Saved me a tough fight.

Does Raphael ever give Astarion the information if you don’t kill Yurgir? I cannot bear to break his little heart permanently
What I did was killed the rats and went back to Yurgir lair and set up on the other side of the broken steps from where you first jump down. If walk straight across you will have to jump to another set of steps and it takes you to a place where you over look where he is standing and and attack the single guard which will target the fight. Everyone will come to you and somewhat get funneled in. Just make sure you have something to counter the effects of poison. 1 of those guards will cast a powerful cloud of poison. After you kill everyone and go to camp old Ralph will show and talk to you.

Nothing, just did the quest and checked here for something I missed. He left nothing.
Just a chest with magical boots, which you can loot even if you kill him

STOP! SKIPPING DIALOGUE! It makes it difficult for viewers to keep up with what's going on.
Also is there a way to find out without attacking the rat? Or at least have it attack first. Makes no immersive sense to outright attack without even trying to talk first when not knowing what the rat is up too.
The dialogue doesn't start at all, they approach me directly, does anyone know how to do it?
