- The 76ers have become the number 1 team in the East without James Harden. Tyrese Maxey has taken a huge step forward but there’s more to be done. Philly has one more move to make and it could put them into true championship contention.

You nailed it. If the Sixers can add Brogdon and either OG or Caruso, Philly would be absolutely stacked and their defense would be incredible.
No cap, I want Caruso just so Maxey can learn from him. Maxey steals all of the best things from his team mates, he is relentless. If the sixers add caruso that is equivalent to adding 2 carusos to the team, and since the team looks up to maxey as a leader, who knows how many players will start playing hard defense like caruso.
Also, I wonder how much Batum is going to influence maxey. We might see some exciting connection passes from maxey coming soon.
I think caruso is the most important for Maxey’s future though because maxey is a small guy, so the details of how to play hard defense will translate really well to maxey’s game especially since refs don’t call fouls on mismatches where the smaller guy is fouling, they only call the obvious stuff like hitting a players arm when shooting.
But we Mavs want Caruso and OG so we must battle!!

I didn't think Maxey was going to make the all star leap till next year but he's not only putting up all star numbers but is making the 76ers the one seed with Embiid.

I started fucking with Maxey last season
I really like this Sixers team. Besides how much Tobias gets paid and Morey as GM, I like how the team is constructed. Nurse as a head coach is a great pickup. He has coached a superstar before (Kawhi), has helped coached that 2019 team to the title, and has held his own even with key free agent departures during the offseasons and injuries here and there. It is unfortunate that Embiid had liabilities like Ben Simmons and Harden that have been stubborn in their own ways, not too willing to change, adjust, adapt, work on, or expand their game beyond the skill sets they came in with. However, Maxey, who has great morale and work ethic and seems willing to improve and add on to his game, looks like the best second option besides Jimmy Butler that Embiid has played with. As long as this team stays healthy, makes the right moves by the deadline if needed, and steps up in the playoffs, I can see this team potentially making it to the Conference Finals and being an actual title contender for the next few seasons.
Praying for Kelly Oubre Jr. Hopefully he can make a quick recovery.

Tyrese has been my favourite player since day dot. Trademark floaters, speed downhill, marksman from deep and to boot an incredible guy and a grafter. He deserves all the success he’s getting
Guys like Tyrese and Tobias bring nothing but good vibes to work and that is exactly what Joel needs to flourish.

Glad you pointed out that Maxey’s isn’t just a talent, but a quality guy, something team managers (except the Spurs) seem to undervalue. And agree, Nurse is building a team of motivated role players around Embiid and Maxey, starting with Harris.

Maxey is a an enigma of pg’s. He can sink the tear drops like Tony Parker, he’s fast and plays defense like Dwyane Wade, he can shoot 3s off the dribble like houston james harden and he’s as humble and hardworking like steph curry. He’s going to be a problem for years. If he can get his playmaking skills to near elite levels he will be a problem for a long time. Already feels like a philly legend and we haven’t won anything special yet. If this team makes it to the conference finals this year I think the process era is over and it’s the franchise era like Joel called Maxey last night. He is the franchise and so is Joel. These two just need to focus on their chemistry together and make each other better players. As long as Nick Nurse has the rest of the team playing hard defense and shooting their shots when the looks are there philly will be great. Don’t even get me started on Tobi either. Man is shooting 50 40 90 splits on the season and looks good on defense with the edition of batum and roco to help him out on the wing. This team is one playmaking guard away from something special.

I was so mad when we traded for harden, and i would get trashed for it. A rocket fan told me as soon as we got him, that in the playoffs, for eveey 1 great game, he gives 2 terrible ones, and dude was dead on.
the only bright side of Harden was that his good offensive moves and tendencies have rubbed off on maxey. Have you seen his step back 3s. His iso and off the dribble game looks just like James and the two were good friends even if he was a locker room cancer. Maxey has been a sponge so far in his career and the influence harden gave him cannot be overlooked. If philly can get a player like cp3 when his contract expire this offseason for cheap that might make him an elite guard in the future. SGA looks amazing and he had one year with CP in okc and you can see how his playmaking and leadership skills rubbed off on him too. Philly could use that influence off the bench for maxey.

I would focus on depth of 3 and D guys if I’m building that team. Let Maxey blossom into his role. You’ve already got Embiid and Tobias is a solid 3rd option for them. They’ve got 3 guys that can take over a game at any given moment, bow they just traded for some defensive anchors. Getting rid of Harden is the best thing they could have done and the worst thing the clippers could have done
I drafted Maxey in a fantasy dynasty league at 17 & have never let him go. He was a beast at Kentucky, so I’m gassed he has taken that next step. Last year was great too, but he got injured.

i do think the sixers could go far this season, but i just dont feel like its gonna happen, they always find a way to throw in the 2nd round with embiid, maybe nick nurse changes that, but we'll have to wait and see
I don't doubt they can give Boston, Milwaukee, Miami a run for their money but they can only get past them if Embiid and Maxey hold their own as the series goes on and show up in closeout and potentially elimination games, especially in close and late game situations if they are down or close in any of the games during the second round. If it were not for Kawhi getting 4 lucky bounces, they could have made it past the 2nd round in 2019. I believe this is the best potential the Sixers have had since then, so that makes it even more important to capitalize on that potential while Embiid is still in his prime and playing at an MVP level.

OG’s a perfect fit, one of the best wing defenders in the league who can also score and shoot the 3 very well. He’s in his early prime too. After we get him, all that’s left is a playmaking point guard and we can contend.
Tobi can stay, we need a Brogdan type guy this year and can sign OG in the summer

Maxey is one of my favorite players and I have 0 of him on my bestball lineups because I thought no team would want harden. Then I forgot the league would force the trade to one of their golden gooses the clippers.
I recommend reading nick nurses book it’s very well done and gives you an idea of how he coaches the quote I took away “I can teach anyone how to shoot”

Problem with Philly is Embiid is a choker in the playoffs too. So it doesn’t really matter if harden is there or not.

Im from philly and I hated that harden said we lut him on a leash. Like we let him have the ball he wasnt on a leash. Tobias was mostly on a leash last year.
I think that no team should have more than two superstars as scoring options. Klay amd Draymond make one true superstar.
They cancel each other out slightly because they take up two people the floor.
The rest of payroll should be put into stars and a strong bench.

Maybe speaking too soon but I could see Maxey being the big kahuna for the 76ers in about 2-3 years. Could be some issues with Embiid but I am enjoying the wave for now. And yea Philly should go all in on depth, no team needs more than 2 30 a night guys

I'm a Sixers fan and an Eagles fan. We get to watch Howie do work every Year. We have gotten to watch the Cowboys fail for 25 years(lol). Our GM vs their Owner. The GM has been to 2 Super Bowls in the last 10 years. the Owner hasn't been to a Super Bowl since the Sega Genesis era. I said that to say this: LET THE SPORTS PEOPLE DO THE SPORTS STUFF. Balmer should have minded his business of minding his business. It worked out great for us(Sixers) but still.

the argument that daryl morey is star hunter is stupid, yes he traded for some stars but harden never got to play 2 all stars at once. other than the harden-simmons trade he as been a great gm for the sixers, i trust in him to make good moves. with him and nick nurse the sixers will be contenders for quite some time, even when embiid’s production eventually decreases
Philly got things back for Harden, but they didn't need to. They could have literally just deleted him off the roster and instantly be a better team.
NBA and fans thought Simmons will be the next superstar but it’s actually Maxey all along.
