Hi just saw your video. I am surprised no one stopped you from filming the immigration area. It is prohibited under the Infrastructure Protection Act 2017, Changi Airport and Seletar Airport are infrastructures protected under the Act. I wouldn't film any airport immigration area - it is considered protected area. That aside, your video is good. Tx for coming to Singapore. For the kaya, it is made with coconut milk and sugar and the green color came from pandan leaves. It is very tedious to make kaya as it can take hours to reduce to that texture. For the soft-boiled eggs, add soya sauce (half a teaspoon will do) and add pepper - and mix it all up. Dip your toast in there and it will bring it to another level.

Singapore's Coffee (Kopi) Lingo can be tricky to catch for new tourists. Hope this list is helpful to you.
Kopi/Teh - Black Coffee/Tea with Condensed Milk and hot dilution water
Kopi O/Teh O - Black Coffee/Tea with Sugar and hot dilution water ('O' means black, no milk)
Kopi C/Teh C - Black Coffee/Tea with Evaporated Milk, Sugar and hot dilution water ('C' was used to refer to Carnation Milk)
Siew Dai (after saying Kopi, Kopi O, Kopi C) - Less sweet drink (less condensed milk/sugar)
Gah Dai (after saying Kopi, Kopi O, Kopi C) - sweeter drink (more condensed milk/sugar)
Kosong (after saying Kopi C or Kopi O) - no sugar added (kosong means empty in Malay)
Poh (after saying Siew Dai, Gah Dai or Kosong) - more hot dilution water is added (thinner dilute drink)
Gao (after saying Siew Dai, Gah Dai or Kosong) - less hot dilution water is added (thicker, concentrated drink)
Ti Loh (after saying Siew Dai, Gah Dai or Kosong) - no hot dilution water is added (Kopi/Teh poured all the way from the coffeepot or teapot without additional diluting. Super concentrated full-on strength drink)
Peng (after saying Poh, Gao or Ti Loh) - Drink is poured over ice cubes and served cold

    @micahiah2 Před rokem +4

For the drinks you can actually have any requests. like without sugar or less sugar. less milk or without any. they have condensed milk and sweetened too, which you were drinking. The kaya is a mixture of coconut, pandan and sugar and eggs. The dark sauce is sweet that goes with the poached eggs, mixed. Dont put too much of it. usually a teaspoon is good enough with the pepper for spice.

I hope you guys it has been a wonderful trip for your guys and I look forward to more videos from you on your visit to Singapore. Oh, one thing about the egg, we call it ‘soft-boiled eggs’ here and it’s really up to the individuals how he wants to eat them. For me, I would add dark soya source and a bit of pepper, and next, I would normally scoop out the yoke. Your Tea-O means tea without milk, ‘O’ is Hokkien, a Chinese dialect, meaning ‘black’, like coffee black, Kopi-O. 😃

    Jayesh mate,
I hope your CZcams journey goes well. But a couple of tips:
The on the ground realities of where you are secondary to CZcams success. You are not tour guides. Be 'STARS'. The locations are just a backdrop to the story unfolding.
Focus on Carolina. Smiling at you. Enjoying your profound wisdom, humour, insights, etc etc.
Never show vision of her trailing behind you. It's not a good look unless it is to bring to light her trepidation in following you into a bold and exciting future. Carolina is not baggage!
Highlight your careful and sensitive approach to her feelings and reactions.
Shared discoveries are magic. You don't have to highlight your careful research and deep knowledge. Your discovery of new worlds is the magic.
Oh, and Ya Kun Kaya Toast is sort of like the McDonalds of kaya toast. As an alternative, look down every little alleyway for undiscovered local gems. Finding such places, like Carolina's smile, lights up the CZcams sky.
    M

love the vid! just thought i'd give a helpful tip for ordering tea and coffee in local stores such as yakun, or coffeeshops in Singapore in general:
kopi - coffee with condensed milk
kopi c - coffee with evaporated milk and sugar
kopi o - coffee with no milk, but with sugar
kopi o kosong - black coffee with nothing
(kopi, kopi c, kopi o) gah dai - more sugar
(kopi, kopi c, kopi o) siew dai - less sugar
if you want the coffee or tea to be thicker, you can add "gao" to your order (e.g. kopi o gao, thicker coffee with sugar and no milk)
changing kopi to teh is just the tea version for everything above. and if you want the iced version, you can just tell them you want it cold, but if you wanna sound more local you can say "bing" which means ice in chinese

As a Singaporean, im here to share some tips ;D :
    1. If you wanna order soemthign from they menu like located at 18:10 and 18:32 , try to order like "can we have 2 Set A" as its denoted in the menu, it speeds up your order process
    2. Pronounciation Time: Teh O = T-ayy Oh
    Kopi O = Koh-Pee Oh
    Kaya = Cah-Yah
    3. Kopi = Coffee w Milk, Teh = Tea w milk, O = no milk, C = Evaporated Milk, Siew Dai = Less sugar, Gao = More Caffeine. So if you want a coffee no milk with less sugar and more caffeine, you'd say "Kopi O Gao Siew Dai"
    Hope this helps ;D

On all of Singapore 🇸🇬 currency 💵, you will see the picture of Singapore 🇸🇬 first President Mr. Yusof Bin Ishak from 1965 to 1970. Deceased on 23rd November 1970.
    KAYA TOAST:-
Kaya Toast is a classic Singaporean breakfast, especially when served alongside a cup of kopi and two soft-boiled eggs. An oldie but goldie. There is good reason for the sustained popularity of such a simple sandwich: the sweet, pandan flavours of kaya (coconut jam), salty pat of butter, and mouthfeel of white bread make quite an irresistible combination. Traditionally, kaya is served on thin, well-toasted slices of bread for a very crunchy, coffee dunk-able bite. However, there are many new renditions of Kaya Toast, usually swapping out the crispy toast for different breads: steamed, thick toast, french toast, crackers. You get the gist.

Not "all" Singapore currency, but "most". Don't forget the Bird Series, Orchid Series, and Ship Series that was circulated before Yusof bin Ishak and its portrait notes. All of them are still legal tender.

Excellent video Jayesh, well shot and very well presented. You should seriously look at doing this professionally on broadcast TV, so good luck with CZcams. I've been to SIN a few times in the last year, arriving at T1 is not the best terminal at Changi but I see now that they have the immigration e-gates. That will help speed things along through that bottleneck. For travel in SIN I use the Tourist Pass (the red and white one), it lasts for up to 3 days unlimited travel and you can also top it up (only for a couple of days) after it expires, the cost of the card itself, and any remaining balance, can be refunded at Changi when you leave. What camera did you use for the video?

Teh C - tea with evaporated milk and sugar.
    Teh O - black/red tea with sugar.
Same goes to kopi = coffee.
You can ask for lesser sugar or condensed milk. We call it "siu dai".
Season the poached eggs, break it, stir it, and dip the toast in the eggs to eat them.
