How to Install Roofing Shingle Ridge Cap

  • In this video I replace the old shingles that form the ridge cap on our bunk house with a new shingles. In this video I show how to remove the old shingle from the ridge cap and how to prepare and install new shingles for the ridge cap.

    Awesome. I need to do my roof ridge cap this video really helped me understand! Thank you. Also side note. Be careful with holding nails in your mouth. If they are zinc coated they can make you pass out and possibly fall off the roof.

      Hey can I ask u a question. Do u need to put flashing down first before putting on a new ridge cap ? This lady has flashing under her ridgecap but it's missing in certain areas and all bent and hanging down the roof.

      yes if metal strip on double wide is torn it needs to be replaced before new ridge cap repair also check for additional damage down below😲

    Thank you, I am building DIYly my shed now and don't know how to cover the two nails hole on the last piece of ridge cap. Now I know use the way now using tar. My last problem is where can I get tar? Thanks.

    great job! good video, so your not gonna caullk with roof cement glue the open seams of the ridge for added tightness?

    Looks like the guys who did the roof originally used leftover asphalt felt based ridge caps. The main roof is architectural fiberglass shingles.
