Fantastic song and video! Besides being completely awesome, I'm a bird nerd and so this makes me extra happy! In California we have the close relative of this bird (both are in the "nightjar" family) called a Poorwill. Birds in this family are amazing and have very similar behavior, including the incessant calling at night. Their beak looks tiny but their mouth is HUGE, which they use to catch bugs and other small creatures while flying low to the ground. They are nocturnal, and during the day they sit still on on the ground or horizontally on a branch and completely blend in. They go into a state of torpor, similar to hibernation, in the cold of winter when there is little food. They get brought into the wildlife rescue where I volunteer sometimes during the winter because people thing something is wrong with them (and a lot of people think they are owls). Oh, and one last bird nerd fact - they do this really cool movement when they feel threatened (spread their wings and move back and forth). Truly unique family of birds! What a cool bird to use as inspiration!
I am so lucky so as to be able to sit on my front porch in rural north Texas, and listen to all Chuck Will's Widows have a battle of the band EVERY night. Texas unfortunately has a terrible environmental protection attitude, and the song is disappearing. It seems, the birds only like VERY rural areas, and our rural areas are slowly becoming not so.
Amy is genuine, humble and so kind. She spreads goodness everywhere in so many ways. ❣️ Top 3 bucket list, to meet Amy Ray. 🙂🤟
