  • Leland Lures offer the highly rated trout magnets. Trout seem to like these lures even in the man-made lakes we fish in. Ultimately, the key is presentation and line management. Fishing the trout magnets for the first time was fun. An Anglers Lifestyle Gear and Tackle.

Try this in that lake for trout: 4lb. test flourocarbon leader about 18" attached to a barrel swivel, and above the barrel swivel a plastic bead with a bullet sinker above the bead. We call it a slider rig. The trout take the bait and swim away pulling line through the sinker rather than dragging the sinker, in which often they will feel the resistance and spit it out. For your bait, on a #8 or #10 Tru Turn hook put a dab of Salmon Peach Powerbait in a teardrop shape making certain it completely covers the hook shank. I fish for trout primarily in lakes and have caught over 100 just out of one lake here in VA since March '19 using this method. I rarely leave without my limit of six fish. Try it, you'll be glad.

Specific rods for every lure is recent lie. Grampa had 2 rods. A long one and a short one. If he heard I bought a trout magnet rod, and a crank bait rod and blah blah, he would reform from his ashes and punch me in the spleen.

I love Trout Magents and Panfish Magnets. Don't worry about buying the special rod. What you have there will work fine. I use my Ugly Stik 4'8" Ultralight combo and sometimes a cheap Shakespeare Micro Series UL combo. For the Trout Magnets they work fine. Any small bobber will work with them too.

  • @diddybushcraftnoutdoors8072

I bought a pack of the chartreuse/orange a couple weeks ago, only used them in a pond but didn't catch anything, of course no trout in either. I plan to go to mountains soon to trout fish and gonna try them out.

Good video, I've used both the float and lures. They work well, I use straight 2 pound line Izor XXX. Haven't had a problem catching fish on that, you may want to practice a side arm cast rather than an overhand. It'll give you a little more distance.
Glad you're doing well, stay healthy

Sometimes the longer it stays on the hook the bigger that hole gets and chances of the hook pulling out increases. It happens to me a lot...LOL!!! Glad you're back out there and looks like you're getting better healthwise!!! ---SkunkLIme

  • @bouncerslabrealnature9143

3 to 4 feet below the bobber always works for me in any lake . The rubber lures are great but 1 inch gulp minnows work for everything. You may find that the 1/32 crappie magnets work better for trout. Just an opinion but very well tested.

The bobbers have a slit on the side. You put your line in that slit and use the peg to pin the line against the bobber. This stops the bobber from slipping and you can easily adjust the depth of your leader by moving the bobber to desired depth. You can also set up the bobber to slip by threading the line through the peg’s holes and putting a bobber stop on the line. The bobber stop comes in thread form to be tied on to main line at desired depth, this knot can be adjusted to fish at desired depth. There are also rubber and bead stoppers. Youre losing your fish because of the way your threading your magnet. The point of hook should be threaded so that it exits the body between the “legs” of the magnet.

What kind of sunglasses did you buy on Amazon? I was fishing Friday using a green TM and hooked up with an approximately 11/2# large mouth. I didn’t feel the bite, the lure stopped moving and I thought it was snagged. Then the line moved about a foot. What a battle on ultralight tackle! Really fun and comical to see that tiny lure in the bass’ top lip.

Not sure how you are using the bobber. I put it on like slip bobber, then peg it with a loop. Once you get a bite, it pulls the loop straight and stays on like a slip bobber again. Shouldn’t loose the peg. Happy fishing...
