You can literally just cut off the excess zipper on the pink shirt and then just put a few stitches by hand at the end as a new zip stopper! ❤️

@@MDNELLEY I typed shorten a zipper into ytube and a Professor Pincushion vid was the 1st result, it shows exactly what is described. Once you see the visual it will make total sense!
Don't be afraid of your sewing machine! The hardest part is just starting, once you sew a few things you'll be getting it out all the time. Start with simple hems on non stretchy fabric. Less stretchy fabrics are easier to sew! I love my sewing machine but the hardest part is just getting started!
For sure! I am mostly scared of filming myself using it hahaha I’ve used it myself but gosh darn people can be so critical 😅
I literally sewed 2 quilts back in 2009 for my niece and nephew’s first birthdays. Today, I can’t even remember how to use my sewing machine 🤦🏻♀️
I lost my users manual, and last month I found a pdf version of it online, and had my dad print it out at work! 🤣 it was 102 pages!!
Now I don’t have any excuses, but I still can’t get myself to start using my sewing machine again. 😢
I agree- start with something really simple and straight lines, like pillow. Start with easy things to build your skills and confidence. The problem a lot of people have with all types of crafts, is they try to start with an advanced project and it goes badly and then they just give up and say "I can't sew" (or knit, or draw, whatever). Nobody is born knowing how to do these things, you just have to learn it in stages. And don't film it if that gives you too much pressure! Not everything has to be a video. Wait until you are more confident to start filming yourself sewing.

*Tip - if you clip the new elastic to the old elastic before you pull it out, when you do pull it the new one will be in place without the extra work. 👍

Prom dresses are SO FUN to redo! That pink looks amazing on you. I cover this zipper issue in one of my videos where I turned a prom dress into a removable sleeve top. Just hand stitch over the zipper where you want to cut it (around and around) creating a new stopper. Then cut the zipper below it! :)
LOVE thrift flips and what I love most is that you don't always know exactly what you're doing because it shows you don't have to be an expert to give it a go and to have that creativity....it totally makes me feel like I want to have a go and I don't have to do a sewing course first! Love the pink one! 😍

Loved the patchwork jeans! They turned out awesome! I would be very cautious about leaving a raw hem on any type of woven fabric (fabric that isn't stretchy) especially the satin of that slip. One way you could have a raw hem and prevent bad fraying is by using pinking shears to cut the fabric. Pinking shears make little zig zag cuts which help the fabric not fray (it will still fray a little but not as bad). If you wanted to hem something, I would definitely avoid liquid stitch at all costs. There is no way to get a nice hem with it. However, you could use hem tape. Hem tape comes in a roll and you cut out the amount you need. you can put it between fabrics and iron it and it fuses the two sides together. I know how to sew, but I still use hem tape for some things because it is so easy and gives such nice results. I hope these suggestions help in future thrift flips. I love these videos and love seeing your creativity!
Years ago, I actually had to wear a bridesmaid dress that looked remarkably like the pink monstrosity you got at the Goodwill Outlet. Your flip was excellent. At least you can wear the top now. I just donated mine to Goodwill. (With my coloring, it is against the law to wear pink.....)

If you want to cut a more straight hem, lay flat, measure the length you want from the side starting at the armpit. Make a mark with your white pencil or pin. Then use a straight edge to cut across. If you want a curve, make template out of paper or cardboard. Use your machine to make a zig zag along cut edge to keep edges from unraveling. You might even have an edge finish stitch on your machine

Awww yay! I just want to be real because crafting is tough and when it seems so perfect it can just be so unattainable, but I know the fun of it so i want to share the whole process with you guys (especially my mistakes!)
You're right crafting is so hard sometimes but if we don't take it so seriously that's when you can have real fun and learn. You can only learn and improve from our mistakes! 😄 I started learning how to sew about 10years and it felt so overwhelming but now I can sew my own clothes from scratch which is super cool 😊

Years ago I started thrift flipping baby clothes for my niece & nephew. It’s a really good place to start because the clothes are so small, you can develop your skills and get quick results.

They all look really good!! I suggest hemming the slip dress / black shirt even if you're going to tuck it in to make sure it doesn't fray and end up destroyed !!! It's super cute and it would truely be a tragedy.
