Finally, the liquid refrigerant passes through an expansion valve, which lowers its pressure and temperature, and returns to the evaporator to repeat the cycle.
Chillers can be air-cooled or water-cooled. In air-cooled chillers, the heat is dissipated to the ambient air, while in water-cooled chillers, the heat is typically transferred to a cooling tower or another water source. Chillers are used in various applications such as air conditioning in buildings, process cooling in industries, refrigeration in food and beverage production, and data center cooling, among others.
