- Tire sipes are grooves are an excellent way to improve traction and they're simple to do with your own tire grooving tool. We breathe new life into these nearly bald mud terrains and give the owner new found confidence in the snow and ice.

Thank you for representing time and honoring the entire process. Badass man. Keep crushing it.
Thanks!!
Really informative, pretty slick little operation. I did not know you could do that to tires but with the rock crawlers I’m sure there are many tricks out there to improve traction.
Definitely! This is also used by mud runners and truck/tractor pullers. They’re always chasing their tires to their need. Above and beyond that, it can be useful for the average car/truck/tractor. I know people who have done this to tractor tires to improve grip in the snow.
I use off road tires that are winter rated.. but with said their still not as good as actual winter tires, just drive according. I'm very interested in adding sipe to my MT's so is the reason I'm watching your video.😊
Ive done this as well.
I run 3 peak rated tires year round in Alberta....aggressive all terrains for off road i do.
I find that the first winter is awesome with new tires,2nd winter ok,3rd traction sucks.
Even wet pavement traction is horrible after a couple years.
Once the factory siping is gone the tires need help.
I use the exact tool.....siping helps alot, wet traction is fantastic, ice traction greatly improved.
I also use it on dirt bike tires....except i groove those.
Awesome to hear the feedback, especially from someone who has done it so many times. Thanks!!!
Interesting!
Thanks!!
I've noticed my ranger struggles to stop and go on icy roads but does really well on snowy roads, I think sipes are the way to go. thanks for the vid 👍
I think you’d be amazed how much a difference sipes make. I’d definitely give a shot. Let me know how it works for you.
Great video! I've been considering a purchase of the ideal tire groover/siper and I think after seeing this video, I'm going to go for it! Quick questions @Jared's Shop....What would you think about siping longitudinally along the length of tire (along the direction of travel) in order to achieve better lateral grip and to avoid understeer? I was thinking about siping the inner and outer lugs longitudinally for lateral grop and the inner lugs in the standard direction to achieve start/stop capability. is cross-siping a big no-no, or can I do that? Thanks again!
You can most definitely mix up the siping. The way I siped these tires we achieved the same result though because the sipes are at an angle. They are neither longitudinal nor lateral. You can see that the angle direction changes also because we follow the blocks. I felt this gave the best grip in all directions.
Will this give better traction in mud and wet conditions on industrial tire treads foe tractors? To make the purchase of the tool worth while?
The sipes will definitely help with wet conditions and then if you groove them it will help with muddy conditions. You could probably even shape them to look like the new R14s.
Those are grooves not sipes
No, those are sipes. We cut slits. We didn’t not cut grooves.
