  • replacing cab mounting brackets because the bushing went bad.
Volvo Dealer wanted 6+ hours of labor for each side. which is $170/hr. So that's over $2000 on labor only.
    $515 for both parts.
We decided to buy the parts and replace I on our own because we know it should take no longer than 2 hrs to do this.
We replaced both sides on our own within 2 hrs!
    Saved ourselves over $2000!!!

It’s easier to take the whole inner splash guard off. 4 12mm bolts and a 10mm by the abs module (if still there). Lift it up and you have easy access.
Good video though and that just happens to be my next project on my 2016.

Yes. Couldn't get the last bolt out to remove the inner splash guard. So left it on. Then at the end we just broke that part off that was holding the last bolt. Lol

You obviously wrote the comment before you watched the whole video. In a video you can see that he took off splash guard on the driver's side.

I think you guys misunderstood the dealer..this job calls for no more than 2 hours each side..when you go to the dealer next time, ask them what is the BOOK TIME..there is a time allotted for each job, brakes, air springs, transmission, etc...if they go over, they cant charge more..these are industry regulations, this job will never ever be a 12 hour job, never no way..either they lied to you so you can leave or you miaunderstood. Next time ask for the General manager and verify a quote a rediculous as that.

Didn't missunderstand. We repeated what he said and he said yes that's how long it'll take to finish the job. They do charge more if they go over the hrs they said, happened before because a few bolts was stuck and needed extra time to remove. I think they were just eating time and wanted to charge more. Seems like every Volvo we go to likes to rob us in every way possible 🤔

@ilho G yes. Lesson learned. So we will only buy parts from the dealer and fix everything ourselves IF we can. Or else we do research and find a good trustworthy mechanic. Just got both sides leaf springs replaced by a good mechanic. And saved us a lot of money.

Should see the bushing tool to remove the bushing without taking off the bracket

Saw that tool. But didn't want to buy the tool because bushings are not something that goes bad often. So no reason to purchase it.
