    I am way more excited about ballistic transistors than optical computing.

    "Moore's law" isn't the simple "Xnm" that almost everyone thinks.
    Moore stated that he noticed the relation of transistor count doubled every ~2 years *for a given price point*
    So it's "X nm... for X money".
    It doesn't matter if you can get a 5nm processor if it performs 10% better than a 3990wx but costs 15% more, Thats still the law being over.
    Being able to buy more processing power for more money has always been an option. Chiplets/tiles are a mere life extention to buy us time.
    Personally I think Wirth's law is quickly becoming a problem and needs more looking into, RISC combined with bespoke silicon is likely the next big industry change.
