Still playing this in 2013 and soon 2014. Best Total War game for me by far. Neither Empire, nor Napoleon, nor Shogun 2, nor even Rome 2 could beat this one for me. I don't know if it's the time period or whatever else, but this one remains my favorite and probably will until Medieval 3. Coupled with the Stainless Steel mod this game is an ageless classic for me.
indeed CA's dlcs are a joke compared to how much these mods improve the game, the diference between vanila med2 and med2 with stainless steel is so HUGE!

This video made me discover medieval 2 when I was studying at the University. Never have I loved a strategy game so much. Good times sniff sniff. I preferred playing this rather than partying and drinking.

15 years, 15 years and I’m still watching this, still playing Medieval 2 Total War (God Bless modders, Stainless Steel is a freakin 11/10!), and with Rome TW having got a remaster, it’s looking bright for us who hold ME2TW dearly to our heart. Look, I love Warhammer, was a Total War fan first, but got into Warhammer in ‘06, but man has the History side been lacking in recent years, but getting a remastered version of ME2TW, would be a blessing, and getting it with Stainless Steel built in, would be a dream come true!
well yea i didnt really wanna go into detail. although after hearing this song i was intrigued to learn about all the things mentioned in it. roses war, point du hoc, gallipolii etc. i find it fascinating and it gives a good veiwpoint of history
I the total war franchise i have all except the shugn series (SHOGUN 2 COMES OUT NEXT MARCH :D ) and i love this song. The song is so true as well; there have been more wars and battles fought in Europe than on any other continent. However, from those wars, great countries have risen to give us the world today, such as UK, France, Germany, Russia etc.
3:33 Ok, I've had this game for years now, (it's EPIC) but I've never seen this killing move ONCE! Nor have I ever seen an archer kick a dude in the groin! WHY NOT??
This is why i love the medieval era! they may not have had the best hygiene or technology but they fought for what they believed in and loved. Unlike some today

Walls are upgradeable structures in the campaing map. You can descide on how to defend the wall from seige towers, laders and rams at the gate, but you can't build them. It is THE most realistic stratagy game EVER!
Empire is pretty good, especially since you can't actually go bankrupt in it and it has way more regions to conquer, but it also is really, really graphically intensive and there are so many factions that it can be a full minute between turns. I'd go with Medieval 2.
Normally when people make videos like this, they put some metal music by a band I don't like and doesn't fit the video. I love this song and cannot fit any better.
I love Medieval 2. It's the perfect balance between explosive play with cannons and gunpowder and the raw melee battles of the infantry and cavalry. Battles felt huge and dangerous. Something I can't say of Shogun 2 sadly. :(
Its funny that 5 years ago when we said "5 years ago" we thought of games like mortal kombat 1,PS1 console...now we think the of the same thing but the truth is games like this one were made 5 years ago ^^
