Hell, with all the involvement relating to Buu in the dbs arcs, he should’ve been involved in every single arc. His relation with Beerus and how he nearly killed him and shut down Whis all by himself, Frieza being warned of Buu from King Cold, dealing with a twin universe that may have their own Buu, trunks’ success in preventing Majin Buu leading to an even greater threat in goku black ruining his timeline, universe 6 bringing their own Buu to fight U7 Buu, the Grand Kai in his body meeting with Beerus and shin again after multiple millennia of being absorbed. The problem with super is it tried too hard to go back to the comedy roots of OG dragonball but sacrifices the competence and growth of all the characters that happened in late dragonball and z by making everyone into an idiot. This is becoming a more common issue across media altogether these days where they take characters that were serious and competent and turning them into bumbling idiots for a cheap laugh. When Vegeta came back, he was stronger than Fat Buu, but now Buu was in his Kid Buu form which Vegeta got Rag dolled by and could only stall for Goku. The only person who could be all Buu's was Gohan whom they wrote to lose to Super Buu via absorption shenanigan's which made him way too strong and Required Vegito fusion. • @daniell1483
    @daniell1483 Před 2 lety +69

    I liked all the forms of Buu after absorbing Piccolo. He remained chaotic and evil, but he gained a psychopathic intelligence to go with it. Now his power wasn't just used to destroy for Buu's gain, but to slowly sap the hope away from anybody he faced. He didn't just destroy, he went out of his way to break the spirit of his enemies. People overlook it, but the fight with Gohan and Buu (plus Piccolo and Gotenks) had a lot of psychological torture, so much so I'm surprised it got into the show in retrospect. He could have simply killed Gohan if he wanted at that point, but he didn't. He wanted Gohan to feel existential dread before killing him. That is serious serial killer level psychopathy!
    Going from such a calculatingly evil form into Kid Buu felt like a step backward for me. He wasn't as psychologically scary, he wasn't as powerful, and seemed less cognizant of his own intentions.

    • @arrownoir

      @@arrownoir Indeed. All the DBZ villains were evil, but in very different ways. Frieza wanted people to know his greatness; Cell had a mission to accomplish at any cost. Buu didn't just want to win, he wanted to crush the hope and spirit of anybody he fought, degrading them and mocking them to their face. They are all evil, but Buu seems the most malicious to me. That psychopathy is best displayed after gaining Piccolo's intellect, I think.

    • @tim6454
      @tim6454 Před rokem +1

      I disagree. Yeah that was peak buu but he also lost because of that arrogance. Kid buu wouldn't make that mistake because he's just going to kill you or blow up the planet killing you anyway. And that's why they call kid buu the most dangerous he's not smart enough to talk let alone be arrogant enough to draw out the kill. How many times has a bad guy have the win then proceed to prove how "smart" they were by attempting to psychologically crush the good guy before losing because it gave them a chance to come back.

    • @daniell1483
      @daniell1483 Před rokem +2

      @@tim6454 The only reason Super Buu didn't win outright was because of a series of never seen before miracles. Vegeta being sent back shouldn't have happened, it broke the rules of the afterlife. Same thing for Goku being resurrected without the Dragon Balls. Buu had no way of possibly imagining that more foes could have come back. Even then, Buu could have won if not for the Potara fusion, yet another thing Buu could not have possibly known was a thing.
      The events that came together to conspire at Super Buu's defeat was essentially a series of deus ex machinas. And it isn't like Kid Buu would have fared any better if he was in that situation instead. Hell, if it was Kid Buu instead of Super Buu, the Potara fusion wouldn't have been necessary at all, and the team of Gohan, Goku, and Vegeta would have stomped Kid Buu.

    One thing I disagree with is that I think uub in the baby saga was written well. Fusing back with Buu to obtain the true power of Majin Buu was written near perfectly and yes I agree that his fight with baby should be longer maybe an episode or 2 but seeing uub match the big bad in power that being baby was cool to watch as we see what uubs true potential really is were I can agree it would be great if uub got the win but I can accept and I actually like the idea of him losing on purpose to attack baby on the inside to help Goku in his fight as it shows to me again that uub is also a strategist and not a brawler like some of the other z fighters. Uubs moment of reflecting on his time with Goku after thinking baby killed him felt so natural for him to go through. And finally him coming in to save pan gave me chills even baby gave him praise saying that he surpassed Goku.
    However I agree that super 17 did uub a disservice by making him usless again super 17. As for the shadow dragons uub was meh. He was the first line of defence for Goku which was cool and his willingness to jump back into the fight to help his mentor was good but he didn't do anything in that arc that was significant.
    So in my opinion
    Uub in baby was written well but could be better but I liked the uub losing on purpose to help Goku later.
    Uub in super 17 was a disservice to the character and he should of at least have been able to hurt super 17
    Uub in the shadow dragons was a nothing burger. He should of done something significant like joining in the final assault on omega with Vegeta, Gohan, Goten and trunks.

    I recently figured out that my biggest problem with the Buu arc is that it doesn't connect to the other arcs as seamlessly as the previous ones. Before the Buu arc, the consequences of the previous arc propelled the action of the upcoming one, it was good narrative structure. The Buu arc wasn't supposed to exist so it doesn't have that same attatchment.
    The Buu arc feels like the start of a new series, as opposed to the ending of what has already been established. It introduces a bunch of concepts that the protaganists really don't have a grasp on yet (Fusion, SSJ3, the upper kai realm and demon realms). Now that Super (and honestly... Xenoverse) exists it feels like the story would make more sense if the Buu saga was the start of Super as opposed to the end of Z. The carry over is so much cleaner. Battle of Gods, The Goku Black Arc, the ToP, and the Moro Arc work really well as follow ups of the Buu Arc and if it was written with them in mind, I sincerely, belive based off past evidence, that the writing would've been so much tighter.
    Keep up the good work, Cheers

    I think what could've fixed his standing in Super (since at that point his involvement in the eventual Morro story in the manga) is if he sleeps in the universe 6 tourney, but come time for the ToP, he refuses to participate suddenly out of nowhere, never gives a reason why, and even threatens people like Goku and Mr. Satan to try and force him. Hinting at the idea that he doesn't want to leave the universe for unknown reasons. This would set up the eventual Morro arc, and reveal that the sudden change in personality is due to the re-ermerging memories of the Grand Supreme Kai who has become aware that Morro is going to be a threat sometime in the future.

    Majin Buu is a character that feels like he should be in Frieza's role. Someone introduced earlier in the series and foreshadowed as a ultimate antagonist, but Dragon Ball writing always falls short in looking ahead, often doing things at the moment then using retcons like Beerus' history to denounce some things. You can see it in this comment section, the idea of the Kais being mascaraed goes from this bone-chilling event to an act of grand incompetence, and by extension belittles Majin Buu's act. He has so much going for him, even now in Super, but it hurts knowing that until we reach Uub Majin Buu truly is and was always a vessel for the plot that has taking different forms in spite of how interesting he is.

    Just as a minor thought: Imagine if Fat Buu returned to his original ways during the Tornament of Power, Absorbing other fighters to gain their abilities and progressively become an even bigger menace during the whole saga.
    It 'is' possible given it takes time for Buu's absorption technique to actually kill anyone as we have seen during the Super Buu encounters of DBZ, Goten, Gohan, Trunks, but even most importantly, Fat Buu were all absorbed by Super Buu to make him progressively stronger, and all survived.
    So we likely could have seen a temporary resurrection of Super Buu with so many combination potentials and random abilities to make the final fight a true clash of Titans and Ideals between Buu, (Who could likely eat a quarter of the tournament), and Jiren, a fighter who always has, and forever more stood alone.

    Let me explain to you why Kid Buu was justifiably the strongest. We all know about Ki, and Ki control, right? We all know about the limitations of different races as far as power goes right? If you were to merge Kid Buu's 'race' with a less powerful race, boom, his power has been "limited". He draws his power from either the universe or multiverse, but can only channel so much of it at once. The reason that Buuhan was able to demonstrate dimensional power is because he had the intelligence to leverage his vast power in ways that Kid Buu would never conceive of. It's like telling a really strong guy and a really smart guy to lift a ship. The strong guy won't be able to, but Galileo did with pulleys.

      The real argument is that the Kais weakened buu with their ki to an amazing amount but that's kinda shit cuz all the Buus can be more or less power scaled to ssj3 Goku. As far as we know, goku was only confident vs fat buu and thought he could take kid buu at full power. Zenkais were never mentioned and super buu was already scaring Goku.
      But if you really want to think that Buu absorbing fighters makes him weaker then go ahead and make him have one of the worst techniques in the universe lol. Only the Kais were supposed to make him weaker (tbh only one kai had that innocence to make him weaker) and Buu obviously thought he was getting stronger as he absorbed the Z fighters.

He walks up to goku and heals him back to full, zenkai boost and all. Hands down would completely eliminate the tension goku already could beat Jiren when he went MUI, it's just that his body gave out before he could finish the job and this was a goku who was already EXHAUSTED. A peak stamina goku would wipe the floor with Jiren and if he's gone the rest of the tournament would be a wash for universe 7. Hell, imagine if Buu absorbed people. You could say that he could get influenced but I'd argue he wouldn't. He absorbed a BUNCH of objectively speaking "pure hearted" people and was still a evil monster. Buu is cool, but he's way too strong against anyone who couldn't just flat out over power and defeat him instantly or could use magic themselves to maybe counter act Buu. The TOP would have to be fundamentally rewritten for Buu to work in my opinion if you wish for the stakes to still be there.

    Ki is able to manipulate space-time.
    Both Hit and even GULDO could outright STOP time itself, yet I think we all agree Guldo isn't a universal character.
    Power in Dragon Ball is very much a numbers game. Buu ripped open the TIME CHAMBER, which was made by either Kami or Mr. Popo, I don't think it's specified who exactly built the thing. Either way this just means to overcome whatever protections it has, you just need to be stronger than them, which Buu certainly is. Dragon Ball is not explained well enough to apply whatever scaling table you showed. Ki is too nebulous and capable of seemingly anything and nothing. Goku is more than capable of teleporting using his Ki, and much weaker beings, IE the Yardrat aliens that taught this to him, can do it even better. Just the fact Buu could effect space-time doesn't mean he's capable of destroying entire universes. If Buu was that powerful, he'd have destroyed the universe already rather than going from planet to planet and destroying them that way. Buu is a merciless force of destruction, if he had the power to bomb the universe, he'd just do it.
    The ONLY being actually proven to be capable of destroying a universe wholesale is Zeno, as he has actually done it. Not to mention there's a host of translation errors, so that may very well be happening here. You already fell for several errors when you said Bibidi created Buu(He didn't, he FOUND Buu) and that Babidi was his son, he was actually a magic clone. Besides, since when is Goku and Vegeta an authority on dimensional mechanics?
    How does he even know what's happening in this scene? How do dimensions work in Dragon Ball? It's never explained. How many tons of TnT does it take to poke holes in a dimension? None of this is defined in Dragon Ball, so we can't calculate his power on this alone. You can destroy a building, but you're not building level. You're support strut level, you can just keep destroying support struts until the house can't stand up any longer. Universal level is reserved for someone who can destroy an entire universe in one single attack. Buu does not qualify if he needs to exploit some nebulous rules and still fails to pull it off. If you flick a switch and turn off the universe, you're not universal, you're just exploiting the rules of the universe to cause it to collapse.
    Basically, Buu's taking a shortcut because he's NOT strong enough to destroy the universe. One character can destroy universes at will, and characters leagues more powerful than Buu has ever been are terrified of that character.

    I have a sorta head canon-y idea on why Kid Buu would be the strongest, that being that maybe after he absorbed the other fighters then lost them he absorbed some of their latent power and potential enough to keep them and him being a "kid" is essentially Buu's lifecycle reset to stage 1. It'd be sorta like a stage 3 pokemon suddenly reverting back to a basic Pokemon but with super buffed stats and potential with maxxed IVs. Like Buu started new game plus. You might even call it a... Buu Game Plus.

    Would have been fun if Goku went to HFIL to recruite Freiza, gets partway through his pitch, then notices Bobbity and immediately ditches Freiza and makes his offer to Bobbity instead asking him to use his spell to wake Buu up for the tournament.
