Bob Seger is one of the greatest singer/songwriters of all-time.
    His best hits include:
This one, "Night Moves", " You'll Accompany Me", "Beautiful Loser", " Still The Same ", " Mainstreet", "Against The Wind", " Hollywood Nights", "Roll Me Away", " Feel Like A Number " and "Shame On The Moon".
    Fun fact:
The Eagles sing back up on this song.

The internet spell checkers are alive and grading comments! My iPhone sometimes changes the spelling of what I type to words in it’s dictionary so unless you proofread you won’t catch little spelling mistakes. I had an argument with one of my brothers and I can assure you I didn’t tell him to suck my duck but that’s what was sent! If you’re not getting paid to correct grammar on CZcams quit making posts about spelling errors, it makes you look snobbish and petty.

Great choices.... but you must always listen to Travelin' Man / Beautiful Loser together. It is a must!!!! And it should be Live Bullet: Live At Cobo Hall, Detroit 1975 version . The transition into Beautiful Loser is nothing less than breathless. It is also on Seger's Greatest Hits LP (Delux 1994).

    Per song facts:
Seger eventually stated that it is about a lake in Michigan called Silver Lake. He told Toledo Free Press in March 2011: "It was written about Silver Lake in Dexter, about being in the Pinckney-Hell-Dexter area."
His good friends Don Henley, Glenn Frey and Timothy B. Schmit of the Eagles sang backup for Seger on this song. A year earlier, Seger came up with the chorus to the Eagles hit "Heartache Tonight."

Grew up with Bob Seger and finally got to see him during his farewell tour. The man has charted 31 Billboard Hot 100 Hits (Wikipedia). The concert was one of the best, if not the best rock concerts I have ever attended in my 65 years of life......and I have been to MANY! He paid homage to the rock legends of the past with huge video pictures of them on the stage back drop. A super talented and humble human being. I counted as many as 12 musicians on the stage that night and, surprisingly, BS still had that magical voice after all these years. I was blown away! The crowd stood for every one of those songs that he played.....ALL HITS that bought back a flood of memories. Thanks for all you left us BS. Another superb reaction guys, TY.

Seger and colleagues decided to make "Fire Lake" the first single from Against the Wind because it was "totally and unequivocally unlike anything I'd ever done before."
"The lyric is very ... different ... and very kind of unique. It's about taking risks. About risking love, chucking it all and just heading off with a bunch of wild people, whatever.[citation needed]
"It is one of my favorite lyrics down through the years, and the track is very unusual. It's sort of an R&B meets country kind of thing.
"I really wanted it to be the first single but I never thought Capitol would agree to it, and I believe it was Punch (Andrews, Seger's manager and often co-producer) who talked them into it. What I liked about it was that it broke new ground for us. It really showed that we were unafraid to push the envelope of what we were doing before, which was basically pretty hot rock and roll, you know, with a few ballads thrown in."
Music critic Maury Dean describes the song as an "ominous ballad" about "4th of July fireworks." Dean praises the song's intensity, Seger's vocal and the "nifty" minor chords the song uses. Dean speculates that the title may not be entirely figurative, as there may be a hidden reference to a midwestern body of water which literally caught fire, the Cuyahoga River in Ohio. Billboard Magazine describes "Fire Lake" as an "excellent song [that] is paced by acoustic guitar which lends a folk flavor" and the lyrics as describing "the subversion of small-town life." Cash Box said it has "full-bodied harmonies and an easy, country-tinged melody" and praised the production.

Bob Seger and Glenn Frey of the Eagles are both from Detroit Michigan. They met as part of the Detroit music scene and became friends. Glenn's first studio experience was singing backup vocals on Bob Seger's "Ramblin' Gamblin Man'". The circle of great musicians is a great place to be. The song "Fire Lake" is on Bob's album "Against the Wind". Some of the other notable musicians on the album are: Dr. John (session player and solo artist - "Right Place Wrong Time) and Bill Payne (collaborated with many artists including James Taylor, Stevie Nicks and Jackson Brown). The intro to this song reminded me of one of his great slow tracks, called "Shame On the Moon". Bob is truly deserving of being called a troubadour.

Yes, Bob went through a country/rock phase. Another good song that was a hit from this same album is "Shame On The Moon". Also, the backing chorus on "Fire Lake" were members of the "Eagles" band.
