    Mrs. Laura, outstanding recipe, i can make a meal of just these. My fave cheese is swiss gruyere & i use that with the parm reggiano. The nuttiness is delicious. My fave cheeses 1) swiss gruyere 2) parm reggiano 3) grana padona 4) buffalo mozz 5) smoked provolone 6) peccorino romano 7) wisconsin/vermont white cheddar, any combo of these work great in the artichokes, God Bless everyone & Merry Christmas

  • @robbitt
    @robbitt Před 4 lety +1

    I've been eating stuffed artichokes my entire life, and no one in my mom's 100% Italian family has ever cut them in half, let alone remove the center. I've never even seen them in an Italian restaurant this way. Stuffing is supposed to be put in between each leaf, so you get stuffing with every bite. To each their own I guess, but this is a travesty to me. Getting to that center is the best part.

    • @LauraintheKitchen
      @LauraintheKitchen  Před 4 lety +6

      Robbit the choke is never ever edible no matter how you cook them. I do have another recipe where I stuff each individual leaf, but it’s a different version. There are many ways of cooking that’s the beauty of it.

    • @tre45on76
      @tre45on76 Před 4 lety

      How does the choke taste?

    • @robbitt
      @robbitt Před 4 lety

      @TRE45ON It tastes very similar to what's scraped off the leaves. Just a little more concentrated. It's also pastey (pasty?) and a tad prickly.

      Well, I’m not Italian and I go to Italy yearly and when I go in the spring, I have carciofi a la romana. And it’s basically parsley garlic and entire artichoke simmered in wine and broth and you eat the entire thing stem and all and I have like 6 at a time for how incredible it is. So do we tell the Romans that they have it wrong along Laura’s? 😆🤷🏻‍♀️🤦‍♀️

      I don’t understand how people don’t know that lol it’s like saying there’s only one way to make marinara sauce. My mother and grandmother (both born and live in Italy) make it different from each other, doesn’t mean either isn’t right or it’s not good, it’s just different.
