  • The park in Plaine Verte (Green Park) has stood on this location since the founding of Port Louis. This bustling heart of downtown Port Louis is as cosmopolitan as was suggested in 1860 by Nicholas Pike. The modern bustle mixed in with the historic sums up this area perfectly.
They have an old television box, where people could come and see man landing on the moon, and Manchester city beat Leicester city in the 1969 FA cup final.
We found 6 cannons, some were from 1769, made exactly 200 hundred years before the broadcast of that historic game.
Collages, clinics, places of worship, markets, swimming pools, and more, all where they once were.
They now have a Mad Max style thunder dome area to play short-form soccer (football).
Thanks to Hassein for showing us around. His group is below and they have lots of interesting pictures and stories from this area. Help him keep the group going and like and subscribe to his page. If you can do anything about the children's park, please let him know.

We are saving up to get a drone, so we can show you more from the places we visit. Help the cause by buying a coffee. You can also get Riki's art of the day here:

Great coverage , Bryan and Rikki. You've come up trumps yet again ! Plaine Verte is indeed a wonderful suburb of Port Louis with a unique blend of culture , vibrancy and historical importance. A stroll around the place on a different day, not during Ramadan ,would have probably given a better picture and done more justice to the area. The street food especially along Desforges Street in the evenings is really something to write home about ! Like I said before, your input on CZcams on the delights of Mauritius is so heartwarming. Thank you for that. Keep safe and, looking forward to seeing more of you and Rikki. Eid Mubarak.

Thanks for another great comment. You are right, we should have gone on the day Ramadan end, not right in the middle. Things we learn as we go.

I live at Desforges street and Pleine Verte sure is beautiful. A little fun story: Once I was going home, I was in the car with my grandpa and the driver. At the Food Court, there were 3 young school boys and they caught a pigeon. They put a little rope on the ground and patiently waited until they finally caught a pigeon by its leg. Whoooosssh into the school bag and they ran away with it. Lol very naughty school boys 😂 Next time, visit Champ de Mars and La Citadelle, the view is beautiful. Jardin de la Compagnie is also beautiful but be careful there, the garden has quite a bad reputation

Thanks for the great story, I wondered if anyone could catch the pigeon. We are planning to visit Champ de Mars and La Citadelle, soon. We did go to Jardin de la Compagnie a few months ago, it was ok during the day.
