  • Solar Production Update video for November 2023. I look at what my Jinko solar panels and SolarEdge inverter produced over the month and how I used the solar power through my Hypervolt EV charger and MyEnergi Eddi. Solar exporting to Scottish Power and electric with Octopus Intelligent and Flexible Octopus for my Gas.

    4.7kw system south Cambridgeshire. Generated 200kwh in November. Have started importing power to charge battery overnight on cheap rate.

    My system is a little bit smaller than yours at 5.22kw but i only managed to generate 152.22kWh with a similar monthly return of up and down with a max 11.9kWh.
    I live on the S Wales coast so probably a bit wetter and darker!
    My Axle account has given me a total of £25.95 for the DFS on the 20th and 29th November which i have already cashed out into my bills account.
    I have only had my system since September and the Octopus export only commenced in November so all pretty new to me but so far very pleased with everything and wish i had installed the system earlier. Thanks for the time you take to make these videos they are very helpful for us newbies.

      Thanks for your comments. At least the Axle money is helping pay for the electricity the panels can't produce at this time of year.

    4kw array 3.6 grid tied inverter, 3.6kw AC coupled inverter 5.8kwh battery in Leicestershire generated 176.1 kwh. Transferred my FIT export tariff to Octopus outgoing from 1st December which will double the amount I am paid per kwh exported. I have got the I-boost set to heat the hot water for an hour on the off peak rate ( 6hrs @ 7.5 p) will now leave this on all year so that I max my solar export instead of trying to use the solar also tempted to leave the house battery at charge to 100% overnight even in the summer. Best day was the 11th with 12.6 kwh worst day was 27th with 1 kwh, average daily for the month is 5.87 kwh.

      Sounds just like me, now the export pays more than the import. Everything is turned on its head.

    Hi Daniel. Great video as always. Your battery shortfall chart implies that you get no cheap slots between 6pm and 11.30pm which I find a bit odd as most days I do. For example on Sun 26/11 after plugging in my EV I had cheap slots 09:00-16:00 and 19:00-23:30 (and then of course cheap through to 05:30 the next day. Even once the car has charged to 100% IO honour the cheap slots allocated and the house of course runs on them for any excess over what the battery/inverter can supply to the house.

      Tried a few times, never any cheap slots for me. Maybe because my EV is always around 80% full already.

    7.36pKw solar array 2X10Kwhs batteries 6Kw inverter East Cornwall. Generated 288.32Kwhs Exported 16.33Kwhs Imported 523.7Kwhs at 7.14p per unit. Highest day for generation 7/11/23 17.6Kwhs lowest 30/11/23 2.04Kwhs.
    Have an ASHP which have now had to import at the peak rate twice in the last week due to -4 degrees at night for two nights running rest of time is running on batteries and any solar production. Have had three ESS periods in the last two weeks but I do not think we qualify for any payments as we have no day time consumption to calculate against.
    Total bill from Octopus £57.52.

      @daniel_coe  Před 9 měsíci

      Do you find having an ASHP makes having 2x batteries really important? Do you recommend 2 batteries?

    • @southwestsellers5475
      @southwestsellers5475 Před 9 měsíci

      @@daniel_coe Having batteries at 100% at 04:30 means most days without any solar we can run the ASHP 24/7 without needing any extra charging/peak rate consumption for the grid. Total import in the last seven days (all cheap rate) = 149.32Kwhs = 21.33 Kwhs per day = £1.59 per day. Any solar production is then a bonus.

    5.5kw aouth facing arrays Spalding Lincs, November was a decent month for us with 273 produced. Just swapped from Octopus Go to Intelligent just as we started importing some grid electricity. Total house and car consumption was 313, exported 39.5. Best day was 11/11 with 10.3 worst 16th and 27th 0.7. Grid import was only 106, 90 less than last year.
    December isn’t looking so good though.

    • @daniel_coe

      December is looking like the worst month ever. At least its supposed to be. January will be better.

      @@daniel_coe yes it’s still gloomy and weather forecast isn’t that good.Still our worst ever December was 2021 (which was the dullest since 1956) when we only managed 88.4. Fingers crossed we do get more than that.
