    Hi again! I used to be a costume jewelry designer for high-end clients during the 80's. The company went down 4 years later, I've been doing Pest control for 27 years and recently came across a treasure trove of jewelry making equipment, it was locked away for 35 years and forgotten, I found it, purchased everything, and am now learning just like you. I did a 5 min CZcams video for my grandchildren, who requested I make them some jewelry to wear. Keep up the good work! All the best.

    the 'jiggity jaggity' motion when cutting is to assure proper alignment of the pieces when you put them back together to inject the wax.

    I am in awe. I was searching for a video on good webpages to use for my very small jewelry business.
    I went to school for jewelry design over 30 years ago and designed but didn’t make jewelry . Always wanted to make it but never got that far.
    I am so impressed with what you are doing and wish I was doing all of this now myself!! Great work and videos . Wish you all the best!

    Thanks for the video. The 'squiggly' cutting is to make a kind of keying so that the mold sides don't slip out of place. Can't wait to see your injection wax out put.

    Ive just started making RTV molds too. The stuff is expensive! but to save money and not waste alot of the RTV Rio Grande has a video of how to measure to get the right amount of silicone. Youll need to measure the mold frame in cm
    and the height you can do 5cm above the hight point if the piece thats being molded and use
    L*W*H*1.1= Part A in grams
    and for the Catalysts it goes
    Part A *.1= Part B in grams
    Hope this is useful.
    PS if you can buy a thinner mold frame to consume less of the silicone.

    Thanks for sharing your learning process! I'm in a similar place w my biz... getting so tired of hand carving every single piece, so have been thinking of doing this for a while. May have to take the plunge!

    Hi I love your content it is amazing, I would want you to make a video explaining cast in place with the type of casting you use because I only have seen videos of people making cast in place with sand casting. Pls make a videos!😁

    I wonder if you can add one of those bakers plastic baggie things so you can squeeze it into the mold like frosting 🤷🏻‍♀️ that’s what I would do lol 😂 thanks for this video!!!

    Hi I'm Khush from Gujarat india i belong to a Goldsmith family and Goldsmith is our family business since 1970s.
    The silicon mold you made was so good on first try but you made that a bit larger you can make that in half a size and use other liquid to make any other jewellery's mold.
    The method you use to make that mold is different from ours, but you did great work
    I'm about to purchase my casting setup in 1-2 months currently exploring more and more on the Internet.
    Thank you.

    Thank you for such a nice video, as always!!!. Did you notice much of a shrinkage with this type of molding?

    • @MiteraMade

      Thank you! 🙏🏻 🥹 I didn’t notice any shrinkage at all! I put both the master and copy next to eachother to compare and they weee identical 🎉💜

    Hi I love your videos.
    I am wondering what app you use when you calculate the weight from a wax modell to silver to know how much silver to use.
    😍

    I’ve been thinking about making molds, too! Because like you said, some rings take so long to carve and I want to do variations on the same ring. I don’t have a vacuum machine thing, though. Are those absolutely necessary to create the mold?? Are there other ways to get the bubbles out?

    • @MiteraMade
      @MiteraMade  Před 2 dny +1

      As far as I'm aware, it's the only way I know how to get the bubbles out of the silicone. I'm sure though that there is a DIY way to create a vacuum chamber, I'm just not sure what that is, could be worth looking into! ☺❤

    How did you learn to do all this? I have been dabbling in silversmithing for a while now but wax casting has always seemed daunting. Do you have any books or videos you reference? I would love to learn more.

    • @MiteraMade
      @MiteraMade  Před 6 měsíci +2

      I don’t have any books, a lot was just trial and error and random CZcams videos to gather bits a pieces. 🙈 I try and share as much as I can on CZcams but I did recently start an instagram subscription service where I share more detailed advice in short form content as well as 1 live Q&A performances month to those subscribers so I can help even more💜

    I‘m unsure: Can‘t you reuse one waxcarved ring over and over again if you sandcast?

  • @aurasoular6804
    @aurasoular6804 Před 6 měsíci +1

    with a silicone mold, that would mean you'd be able to make your pieces a little faster? instead of making your wax castings over everytime?

    • @MiteraMade

    Do you make custom jewelry too?
    I would love to get one of those necklaces with an alexandrite stone.
    Is it even possible to choose a specific stone in general?

    • @MiteraMade
      @MiteraMade  Před 6 měsíci

      I do customize! I would just need to price out the new gemstone for you and then I can email an invoice for it. 💜 if you’d like to dm me on Instagram we can talk about it! 🙏🏻☺️💜
