The other two games went all the to other side of spectrum and turned Shepard into a quasi chosen one religious figure by resurrecting Shepard from the dead. That plot point had no business being in the hard sci-fi universe ME1 setup. One of the many ways ME2 onwards disappointed for some of us at least.
