- I decided to list out a few things that I really miss about overwatch one, these are meant to be small things that were removed that don't change the gameplay and so would be a net positive if they returned.

Game developers these days, suffer from what I like to call "developmental unimprovement's". They feel the need to unnecessarily change things that are good or working fine, for the sake of trying to keep a game feeling fresh. Even if that means making an "improvement" that actually takes away from the overall game itself. The constant need to tweak and change things can improve things, but knowing when to stop is the real challenge. I whole heartedly agree with you, I really enjoyed the seemingly pointless levelling of the player portrait. Just like in Call of Duty, the levelling of the account and unlocking of things was what I enjoyed most. I really hated how all my work in Overwatch to slowly unlock and collect all the sprays and voice lines seems to have been pointless and just doesn't feel good anymore. Unfortunately the game devs STILL seem a bit out of touch. Recently a dev letter came out stating they don't think tanks are tanky enough, which just shows to most players that the devs don't play their own game. The simple fact that there is no real difference in gameplay skill between bronze and diamond, should be an indicator that their "ranked" system has failed. BTW that mic windscreen is the same size as Hammond, it's huge!
There was a reason why player levels changed. People used to flame others for being high level in a low rank. Now only you can see the level and it applies to each hero.
And there is still a massive gap in skill between bronze and diamond, even now.
Their visual design also took a nosedive for this exact reason, i remember some article where they specifically stated they want to avoid clutter on their characters and showed widow and options where she got less and more details with actual look in the middle, redesign in ow2 is literally option 3 with too much details
same with reaper, mccosby, soldier - they added generic plastic armor plates, when mccree was supposed to be old fashioned and stuff, hence actual poncho and chaps with rugged texture - replaced by generic scifi material
One thing that is better in OW2 is graphics, however, a lot of people just turn their graphics settings down. Worse OST, no borders, no find a group, no cards at the end of the match, and I'm not even talking about the format. With how much support this game has compared to OW1, it is very weird that we still don't have all these things back. Why did they remove them anyway?
You didn't mention god awful HUD, which makes me vomiting when i compare to old Overwatch one. It just feels so uncomfortable, so empty and fabricated that i genuinely want to be able install some mods to switch this white noise and replace it completely. Same with new weapon sounds and visual effects. Everything feels overstaurated and like draining my eyes durability.
OW1 looked better in every way imo
as time goes on ow1 looks better and better
@@juusoleinonen I agree, OW1 had a specific style to its graphics that looked better imo. OW2's visuals remind me of Fortnite

Im glad someone else feels the same, Overwatch 2 feels so different from the original game. I kinda miss how the arcade used to be, a lootbox every 3 wins was great. Now (for me at least) there is no fun in the arcade unless there is an event or you have a group of friends as well
I met ao mamy of my close friends through "find a group" and honestly ive resorted to solo quing anymore since usually no one is in voice.
Overwatch 2 just feels so empty, now
Such a mess... all of that just to justify a two in the name, because the PVE flooped incredibly hard. They could add all the removed features (and bring back 6v6) but it would just be og overwatch again + shop rework, and we can't have that.
This has to be the worst unecessary downgrade of all the games I ever played, and I don't have the stockholm or copium reserves necessary to keep playing after that.
Hoping they bring back group finder. As soon as I logged into ow2 I checked where it was and I was so sad they didn’t have the feature. Genuinely was so good and healthy for the game, met some really cool people and actually felt like I had some impact on the matchmaking
Overwatch needs to bring back looking for group it’s so empty in the voice chats nowadays
Another good thing about title cards is I can listen to my team argue longer

I miss Bastion ult so much. It was THE most fun ultimate to use in the game. I fact, I miss old Bastion, period. Being a glass cannon, finding sneaky off angles, being able to reposition and set back up quickly, that took a ton of game sense and was so satisfying. Evening out his weaknesses and strengths was a huge mistake, because now his playstyle is just sitting around with his team and doing a lot of frontline damage sometimes.
Why was the bastion ult changed? His new one is soooo bad unless its against zen or combo'd with someone elses. Shouldnt have to depend on what your team and the opposition are playing to get value from your ult
Didn't care much for character portraits. Just gave more ammunition to toxic players. Example: Player with Gold/Plat Portrait gets flamed for being in silver or gold rank.
Toxic players would mock others for having invested time into getting these portraits despite being relatively low ranked. It all just incentivises toxicity.
Account levels were good, progression levels are nice but they are not a replacement for them
rank borders are also good and if you don't want people to see them add an option for people to hide it like
private profiles are already a thing it can't be that hard
The icons in OW2 are horridly designed, and would never pass muster in a design class for UI elements. Like a lot of the OW2 skins they just became more complex but in reality added nothing or worse in some cases like rank icons took away.

to add onto the end cards, why not have them? they can make a player feel good when they get votes and it would be good for the game to implement aspects that make the player feel good
I agree with everything that you said tbh. One of the things I would say bother me the most is the constant need to buff/nerf or modify agents who clearly don't need it. They force people to get used to a certain playstyle to then change it completely for no reason.
FOR REAL! i wish they would prioritize fun over the nerfs/buffs that only make the game more boring
I think i need to make a video on how certain people in the community would say something that is a problem isn't a problem and then change their opinion when it's trendy.

One could speculate that the initial plan for these features was to be replaced with newer ones. But they were either tied to the pve or were marked as non-profitable content, so development was scrapped in favor of profitable cosmetics and everything in the battlepass, when they announced decoupling pvp from pve before ow2 even came out.
I agree with most of what you said, since ow2 started i have felt this game to be souless, they try to go for a minimalistic aesthetic but it just feels empty where ow1 was unique. I unfortunately lost all hope for this game to go back to what i loved, the team takes to long to even acknowledge something the comunity is saying, and when they try to make it better they do it in a wierd way that makes it the same or worse everytime. I really hope for the game to be as good as ow1 was, but honestly, i'm tired of waiting, if it happens i will be happy, otherwise i will keep disliking the game as much as i do now, just feels pointless to play it.
All the cool moments happened on skill hero’s no point in playing hero’s that require skill when you can just pick a character that gets value by existing and if they didnt the “cool moments” all get bailed out by the healing/immortality

end game portrait screen with random achievements meant so much for me! i loved being there, i loved voting, i loved seing my friend being here with me or i was happy for an enemy ana who was 73% of all time on fire. it was like a nice closure, like an end credits that provided a time to invite your teammates for another one or to white something at the end of your time together. it's a big step to remove it and i dont think that it was in the right direction, finishing a match just isnt that rewarding anymore
find a group was also really nice, i was fine with being gold/plat and losing in a nice team, laughing and smiling, spending a night together, making deep connections that lasted an hour or two, as well as a global chat. i found out biggest news grom ov. i understand, the game is free now so it's harder to moderate it, but i really miss those, it was a big part of my social life for a year or two when i moved away from home during pandemic. huh

They basically took all of the artistic value out of the game and made it “streamlined” aka flat and bland.

I miss receiving competitive points after a season is over and for what rank you placed in….. Impossible now to get a golden weapon these days, lol
I think it’s easier cause you get 100 comp points after receiving 30 progress points. You only need 10 wins to get 100 comp points. Idk just seems pretty quick if you play the game often.

i'd say the only thing that needs improving is the volume of your voice, a *little* louder would be perfect, and maybe trying to avoid saying "um" as much? but, that one is up to you, as it kinda adds to the whole "casual conversation" vibe.
