Ah yes, this was quite the game. I was the Junk on the cheater’s team. I checked his profile after the game, it was public. He had won 8 games in a row before that game, meaning he had gone unbanned for that long. Dude actually publicly announced that he was cheating at the start of the game in match chat, not trying to hide it whatsoever. As far as I know, based on match chat conversation, almost everyone in the lobby immediately reported him for it, I’m shocked as hell he didn’t get banned mid-game. We checked to see if he was duoed with our Kiri, but it said they weren’t. My assumption is that they would duo, leave party immediately upon getting a game, and then rejoin after the game was over. Our Doomfist began throwing, respectfully, because he didn’t want the cheater to rank up. I began to soft throw and turned my brain off because ultimately, I wouldn’t want this stupid cheater to continue his reign of terror. Hopefully he’s been banned now.
unfortunately, i saw him in some other games, different teammates completely, no duos. he was literally just cheating to cheat, not even boosting. (edit: the kiri is just a pos, one of those "a win is a win" types)
Not likely. Blizzard legit doesn't give a shit. They only care about their precious shop. This add with bad matchmaker and other ways games are rigged is why I have hard quit OW after playing nearly 6 years. Game isn't fun anymore. F2P and 5v5 led us here and killed OW.
so why were you defending the point in many occasions? why knowing all that would you try to win? I am seriously curious. Are they reportable when they don't make you win and otherwise is it acceptable?

This is probably the least reserved cheater I have seen. He was pretty much wearing a billboard.

The first thing he said in match chat was, “I’m cheating.” He announced it at the start of the game.
So, I actually learned something about how games deal with cheaters. At least from what I heard, the anticheat probably did pick him up. They don't immediately ban them because if they did, then it's easier for hackers to tell what tripped the system. So instead, they wait for a bunch of hackers to pop up, then ban them all at once.
To be clear, not ever game has the same approach, and not every hacker necessarily goes for long periods without getting caught. But this is a possible reason for it.
While that is really cool, especially in learning terms. I wish they wouldn't wait for a whole batch before banning people. It only takes 1 person to ruin a match and they can ruin A LOT of matches before a ban rolls out.

@@thighsuffocater6969 its a necessary evil, you have to ban them in waves or we'd have more cheaters in the long run because hackers would know what to avoid from tripping anti cheat

We checked to see if they were duoed but it said they weren’t. I’m willing to bet that they duo and then leave the party immediately upon getting into a game, which is such a cheap and disgusting method.

Its dumb that people are so mad at the kiri for literally just playing the game. 100% draw if you can but they couldn't so why is it bad for them to just go for a win. Lowering the cheaters rank is much worse overall too, because now they will go against some helpless diamond players most likely.

I know people who hacks games and they always say no anti cheats will stop cheating. When they improve the anti cheats the cheats will just get better to bypass the anti cheat. It's an eternal struggle.
@@dantevicexcept for valorant, they have the same amount of cheaters since the game released, never had a cheating epidemic or problem. The valorant devs said this themselves, yes anti cheat generally is struggle but so far the only game which has actually stop the hackers progression is valorant.

The fact that Moira was ignoring him and Kiri was pocketing him leads me to believe they are duo'd and Kiri is getting boosted.

i think that from their pov, the looking at ground thing is actually just a replay bug probably because their mouse movements are too weird. I think anyway, obviously nobody not cheating would ever have sens that wild nor would they also be blatently hitting all headshots and walling.

If you put a cheater in your block list and they get banned before they're auto removed from that list. There will be no info listed, only a blank blocked person (no name no info). It's one way to tell if some one you reported got removed. Just a shame we can't have a longer block list.
Well this person was in my avoid slot for about a week afterwards and I could still see his name and everything. That’s definitely not good.

Not for KoTH, they kinda have to. You cannot draw you have to either win or lose.. so your just going to go for the win gg go agane, report the dude and HOPE the guy gets banned fast. If it was any other mode then sure, they should not be healing him and instead go for the draw.
Its enabling if its any other game mode you can end it while not loosing SR.

Hey jay. So I looked into this issue. It’s a new chest system going around that runs off our GPU and CPU. Basically it runs consistently to detect a change in frame colors (red outlines that can be set in-game settings) then snapping to target and pulling from a file to locate the head within a matter of a fraction of a second. No idea how much they would cost. Just wanted people informed.

This ain't no new cheats man. This type of cheat used to be rampant on Asia, specially Korean servers. There are very old clips of these type of cheats in Korean matches with widow maker looking at the ground and dinking people across map. That's even crazier than this !
These ones were rampant in OW1 on the US servers as well.
I heard someone say that instead of banning individually with reports Blizzard bans in waves so they don’t figure out what they did the moment the ban hits and end up figuring out a bypass
The sad thing is that casuals (the majority) just do not care. I've had it where i call out an enemy that's cheating and i get told by MY TEAM "who cares"

I play on console and I’ve had the enemy team accuse my friends of cheating soooo many times, when I know they absolutely aren’t cheating on their janky old ps4s, they’re just cracked. Sometimes people will accuse someone of cheating just bc they keep getting diffed. So I ignore when people say that during a match. I’ll watch the replay usually and decide based on that to report them or not. Reporting after the match will still get them banned, and the results of the match cancelled, if they were actually cheating. But I’m not gonna throw just because little NeonPants thinks someone is cheating. I’m gonna play normally and check after. HOWEVER. If I saw my Ashe SPINBOTTING.. that is a different story entirely.

they have anti cheat its just rolling bans, for an explanation on how it works and why they do it look for a guy called pirate software, he explains it really well, in short its so that the hackers dont get immediate feedback on what they did wrong, and therefore cant adapt to not do that.
Apparently in the last 100 ban waves they still haven't figured out how to ban people that are snapping to heads every shot. He's a smart guy and as someone who worked at the company has a lot of insight, but banning someone on sight like this cheater isn't going to harm their ability to detect or stop similar cheats in the future. He only ever talks about WoW and not OW as well.
@@RewindMods Blizz literally does the same thing in SC2. It's the same ban wave style. Banning right away would reveal some clues as to what the system looks for which would make it easier to hide. It's a cat and mouse game with no end.
@@GaussianEntity The thing is, they could easily make a system that detects "unusual movement", flags that player and then continues to monitor before kicking/banning them for consistent unusual movement. Minecraft does this and it works great. It wont catch the more subtle cheats, but it will 100% catch these rage hackers. Not even the top players in this game can snap that quickly.
@@GummyDinosaursify The thing you're not taking into account is that the rage hack fix could reveal a bit of info about the banning process as a whole. People who are good and gleaning information can take something like that and build hacks that are even more robust than currently available. The average Joe might not use something like these but big name pro players might want undetectable hacks.

people do this on csgo/cs2 a LOT and it’s called HvH. most of the time it comes down to who has the better cheat but in a game like overwatch it would be actually interesting to see how it works. (i USED to play hvh so that’s why i know but don’t bully me i’ve changed)
In OW it would just be a respawn simulator with hacks like these for everyone. Wouldn't be fun to watch

I am convinced there is no automatic anti cheat.
Blizz has just lead everyone on, but in actuality they're probably just on hold over from previous reports and THEN they get banned mid game. They have told us in the past "1 or 2 reports won't matter, but consistent reporting does."
I would def report the Kiri, probably grouped because that was the most persistent non-Mercy pocket I have seen.

Being on vacation makes me appreciate not playing this game. It's become abundantly clear Blizzard/Microsoft aren't going to do anything to improve the quality of the game if this goes unpunished
I dont really think theres any problem just trying to win quickly when you have a cheater. If you can draw 100% draw, but in situations like this there isnt a choice and neither team deserved to win/lose anymore than the other. If anything throwing the game is unfair because the cheater will go down and play against lower ranked players who won't be able to deal with them as well, and are less likely to co-ordinate with stuff like drawing.

I get the opinion of not pocketing a cheater, but why should I derank because Blizzard can't detect that, the amount of bans that person must have after 2 games should be enough to draw attention. If you can draw then do that otherwise I would just play the game normally. You cant be certain that they are actually cheating a lot of the time, so it could end up in a pointless throw. Why should I be punished for Blizzards poor detection. I will add that I don't think going out of your way to pocket the cheater is ok, that's over the top.

Fair point. Blizzard's fault is not the player's fault. I personally can't care less if there's a cheater on my team cuz I be test running characters i'm shit at just to kinda throw the game while still have some game experience. If i win, i win and report the cheater. If i lose, I lose and report the cheater and also make fun of the cheater for having cheats and still losing. It's win win either way so I personally couldn't care less.
Pocketing someone you know is cheating is a bannable offense now. Dont do it.

This guy is so obvious tho, that’s what everyone is annoyed about. If kiri spectated them at all while they waited to respawn, they’d notice he was cheating. Either this kiri is his duo, has a terrible moral compass, or is just plain oblivious (which I doubt bc they’re in a gm1 game). If the kiri is his duo, she should be banned. If she noticed his cheats and still pocketed him anyway, she should get suspended. If she was oblivious, she should get glasses.
As a dps, I had no idea what to do in this situation because like you said, it’s not my fault for Blizzard’s horrible detection, but then again I really didn’t wanna help the guy. I just turned my brain off and barely paid attention to what I was actually doing in the game.

@@DUSKvsDAWN I wasn’t the Kiri, I was the Junk. All of the other team and most of our own team reported both the hacker and the Kiri when she was noticeably pocketing him. Unfortunately though, despite how many reports had gone in that one game, plus the fact he was hard aimbotting, the anti-cheat did nothing to pick it up somehow.
