  • Tear Mender (16 oz) - amzn.to/2oxZiPH
    Foam Brushes (3" wide) - amzn.to/2pnscRO
    -----
    A few key points:
    - Try to pull the glue off of the rubber where you can, avoid rubbing unless absolutely necessary.
    - The more layers of glue you apply to the sponge, the easier the removal of the glue layer will be later.
    - Tear Mender is the cheapest and easiest to obtain, but most elastic water-based glues will work for this technique.

    This works really well. Saved my d09c. I bought the same brand glue mentioned in the video on Amazon (6oz/117 ml for 11 dollars) I have to apply two layers, apply generously don’t be cheap. One layer is fine, but it breaks when you peel. Two layers, thick enough to peel without breaking and easier to find a starting point. I used half bottle for the blade and its two sides of rubber.

    I wondered if that would work; glad I found this video. Another way is to use an old golf ball, after removing the white plastic coating; this leaves a ball of rubber band which will let you roll all the old glue off in minutes.

    Careful not to use heat from hair dryer. Use only cold air. Heat will burst the air pockets inside the sponge. You will miss every shot after that.

      @@RogerThat1945 Using is fine, just do it from afar or set it to cold as the guy mentioned it before, that'd be fine even if Otchi will tell you otherwise, using a air dryer set to cold is like blowing on it except that'd be even worse for the rubber because you spit on it lol xd

    Steven. What glue did you use to glue the rubber to the blade in the first place?
    I used Donic Clean water based.... then added a couple thickish layers. This glue just does not seem very elastic. I tried it with a little extra and a lot extra. No go with Donic glue. Please let me know what glue you use to glue it to the bat???? I would really appreciate the advise. Great video! Thanks for the sources too. I'll get some.

    • @conradfisher2376
      @conradfisher2376 Před 2 lety +1

      1. Increased weight to be considered.
      2. Over time I find the glue loses a degree of it's snap. The old glue gets harder, less elastic as it gradually hardens. New glue seemingly gives it a boost - the legal kind.

    can we use that material and apply the same principal for wood blade?

    • @StevenChenTableTennis
      @StevenChenTableTennis  Před 3 lety +3

      Hi Petrus, I don't recommend using this method on the blade, because exposing the wood to excess moisture will degrade the blade over time - I feel it is best to avoid unnecessary applications of glue to the bare wood when not attaching rubbers to preserve the lifespan of the blade.
      If there is glue residue stuck on the wood, you can use a wide piece of tape (such as from shipping/packing tape, gaffers tape, or masking tape --- I don't recommend duct tape however, as it leaves behind residue) and use the sticky side to easily brush the residual latex and other debris off of the blade surface. Hope this helps!

    • @gabri3l875
      @gabri3l875 Před 7 lety +1

      I Don't think that this is necessary in the Blade.
      It is Really, Really easy to remove the glue in the Blade, and it can be done in 1 minute or so.
      You can use your hand, too.
      Be Careful if your Blade is not Sealed.

    • @bakervinci163
      @bakervinci163 Před 3 lety +1

      So clearly you recommend sealing your bat. Mine is not, so removing glue is quite the process. I just feel that the rubber is not as sticky with a sealed surface.
