    I remember reading a story that an Ork invasion was going to invade a planet but the question on how to land came up.
    They reasoned that if someone caches the ships when they hit the ground they would be fine.
    So they had the bottom the ships lined with Gretchin to "catch" the ships on impact with the planet.
    And with a bloody splash most of the ships survived re-entry.

    About the Tau thing, there was a story called the war of dakka in one of the codecies, I think it was fifth edition. Therein a Warboss after getting frustated that his boyz where always shoot dead before they could reach the Tau before a proper fight could be had hired every Flash Git he could find and upgunned pretty much everything in his Army.
    He then engaged a smaller outpost of the Tau and started to turn it to rubble with his firepower. When the main force of the Tau moved to reinforce they were ambushed and surounded by Orks who just waited for that exact move.
    That is remarkebly close to a Kauyon tactic, the Orks set a bait the Tau could not ignore to move them out of position so that the Orks could force them in a unfavorable Engagement.

    The Orks' high-morale is partially due to their armies being made of volunteers; not just volunteers for-military-service but also for specialization. If you want to be an anti-tank-trooper you will be, if you want to be a-sneaky-commando you will be, all it takes is a few teef that grow and fall out continuously. An-army-where-nobody is doing anything that they would rather not do except maybe if an ork is saving up teef for a few months to buy his-own-fighter-plane.
    The efficacy of all-volunteer-forces when compared to conscript-forces-of-the-same-size is well known in the modern day but what if this was taken one step further? It wouldn't work for humans though because we're-such-a-peaceful-species that we generally have to-dehumanize-people-to-destroy-them. Lions, for example, do not require such-delusions. Very few humans want to have-deadly-fights-for-their-own-sake so we are unable to rise to the Orks' level in this regard.

      Even amoung-the-insane-it-is-quite -rare for the cops-to-roll-up on a mellow, relaxed-mass-murderer. Tbh, I always assumed that the whole „logistics“ stuff as well as most manufacturing is handled by the Grots. They are said to be smarter( even able to count above their numbers of digits) and due to their small size perfect for maintenance duty. Also that gives them some sort of „job security“ since the Orks won’t use (too much) of em as cannonfodder when they run supplies and maintain and/or build new weapons for the Boyz to fight with

    Wait, Orks repair stuff? I thought they just built stuff, and it more often than not blew up, killing the builder, the operator, or possibly both. Didn't think repairs really factored into the equation.

    • @omegawilliam95s36

      Depends on the Ork I guess. Like, a Mek would be more likely to repair his gear rather than replacing it.

    • @chrisdupuis2523
      @chrisdupuis2523 Před rokem +1

      Ork "repairs" are actually kinda of terrifying because they don't just fix things, they modify it as well. Trukk get blown up? More armor. Didn't keep up with the other trucks? More powerful engine. Not killy enough? More Dakka.
      Whatever the fault was gets corrected and improved upon. Late campaign battlewagons tend to be more heavily armed and armored than should actually be possible.

    Ever since that day my friends go to tactic in any game is bum rush.

    This series actually makes me curious if Arch has read the book The Siege of Castellax, where orks invade an iron warriors held world. Would be interesting to see his take on that particular conflict seeing as the Orks actually used some neat (to me at least) tactics during the fighting. Plus I'd love to see Arch absolutely tear apart some of the idiotic mistakes and decisions made by the iron warriors. (Seriously I'm not even a strategy guy and I could tell you that the iron warriors in Castellax were morons to the last for the most part).

    I'm about to watch the video and am very interested what you're going to talk about. And not because I believe Orcs have some very interesting and sophisticated invasion plan, or their tactics are spectacular to behold. Actual, it's exactly the opposite. It's Orcs, I am expecting them to crash all their ships into the planet and then the survivors kill anything in sight, bigger the better. Let's see if I'm right or wrong, and what is there to talk 40 minutes about.
