In its essence, the technique of working the stitches is not that complicated...practicing and getting the tension correct takes a bit of time, but the more you do it, the faster that settles into something good!
@@themodernmakermathewgnagy215 I realised after watching your new videos that I have been making my stitching is way to tight. Thanks for the videos. The black background was an improvement. So much easier to see what you are doing.
@@christinefitzgerd4210 Right? It is so easy to pull everything very tight. It is just like beginning knitters...they always make stitches too tight. I've had to fight and fight myself to loosen up my technique once I did, the look of my lace really improved. Good luck!

Sir its so kind of you to share this with every detail. I have just gone through your tutorial and its mind blowing. Its in my 'must do' list now. I hope i haven't skipped anything but a small query that if i need several such motifs for a lace do i make them in say several triplets and join them. Is there a tutorial to show how to join in that case? Thankyou once again.
It would be easier if you used colored card stock to do the foundation stitches into. I would suggest a green which seems easier on the eyes. I do bobbin lace and many pillows are covered with green fabric for that reason.
I did a whole series after this one...white is primary color of lace in the period...I really can't spend the time to make a lace that can't be used. However..when I made the whole series of lace lessons, I did change to a black paper so you can see more easily.

Lord have mercy! What patience. I am familiar with some of the patterns because I do crocheted lace with a size 16 hook and thread. Due to my bad vision, I can't do needle lace--the size 16 hook is bad enough, I can't see the hook so I have to work by feel
there is no need for YOU to keep it in the same orientation...but for US it is a different matter. I cannot see what you are doing...that is bad enough, but then you flip around and I loose track of where we are and where we are going.
I am trying to recreate what you are doing from a standing start. I suspect my square is too big. (2" square) and I am stymied with the spacing and placement of the ground stitches. And I am having a lot of difficulty following because you flip the card around trying to get through this part swiftly...EXCEPT...I'm trying to learn how to set up the beginning. This is a new skill for me, but I know how to sew. I've even made lace before...the information I need it the part you skip over.
no. I can't see where you punched the holes. The pattern is not centered in the view. and it is catching too much light. and you keep moving it so my eye cannot focus. and you never tell us what size the square is. or how to create the pattern. Seems like you didn't begin at the beginning.

If you ever do this again it would be helpfull to use bright colored threads. Love your work!
