For years I wanted a Garnett amplifier, I finally found a Gnome from ‘73 in mint condition at a flea market in Saylorsburg PA around 15 years ago for 35 bucks. I happen to be pretty liberal myself, and I happen to think *ALL* those bands you mentioned should *ALL* be in the Rock Hall.
So, excuse my attitude adjustment problem, but it has absolutely jack squat to do with being liberal or conservative or any other narrow-minded reason.
Government politics have *ZERO* to do with why some bands get in, and some bands don't.
Like the fact they're Canadian has *NOTHING* to do with them not being in the Rock Hall.
Rush is Canadian, and *THEY'RE* in.
It's got *NOTHING* to do with who you vote for in our political elections.
It's just stupid political horse hockey *within the board of directors of the Rock Hall* and I know you know that.
You're entitled to hate us liberals if you want to.
      If you need to.
      That's fine.
That's you not being willing to think outside the box that maybe the real reason these bands aren't in the hall is because someone, or several someones, plural, decided that someone else needed to be in the hall first.
Or maybe not enough of us fans bombarded them with letters telling the hall all these bands deserve to be in who aren't already in.
Let's be honest for a minute.
If any of us outside the Rock Hall really had any idea why those bands are not in?
We'd be running the hall ourselves.
If it was up to any of us here?
They'd *ALL* be in the hall right now, and we wouldn't be having this conversation.
But it has nothing whatsoever to do with liberals or conservatives.
Do you feel that, just because I'm liberal, I have bad taste in music?
Or, worse taste in music than you?
      I love all these bands.
      I always have.
      And I always will.
Just because I think Donald Trump is completely useless as a president doesn't mean I have poor taste in music.
Just means I think Donnie Douche Nozzle Dumb Ass is useless as a president, not to forget amoral, corrupt, and all the other wonderful, fun thoughts I have about him.
      But.
Who I voted for in 2016, or any other election, or 2020, or whenever, has nothing to do with my taste in music.
      Or, for that matter, yours.
I am quite certain I like a lot of the same music *YOU* like, and you don't find me skulking around the CZcams comments section blaming conservatives like you for Boston, or BTO, or the Guess Who, not being in the Rock Hall, do you?
      No.
      Why not?
      Easy.
Because, no matter your political leaning, if you love this great music, then we're brothers.
      Political nonsense aside.
And it's not *YOUR* fault *OR* my fault they've not yet been inducted.
We might not see eye to eye on politics, but we damn sure know good music and good rock'n'roll when we hear it.
      Or see it played live.
Because here's the thing that *REALLY* matters at the end of the day:
Music is not about who *YOU* voted for, or who *I* voted for.
Music transcends *ALL* that political nonsense.
I don't have to agree with your political point of view to consider you a brother in musical arms, because music has nothing to do with politics.
When it comes to rock, it matters not if you're a Conservative Republican *OR* a liberal Democrat, or *ANY* other political point of view.
What matters is, we love good music.
We want the same thing: for great bands like BTO, Boston, and The Guess Who, and tons of other totally deserving rock bands, to be in the Rock'n'roll Hall of Fame, who aren't in already, to finally get inducted.
Doesn't matter what race we are.
Doesn't matter what gender we are.
Doesn't matter what religion we are.
Doesn't matter what our sexual orientation is
Doesn't matter our political belief structure.
      Only *ONE* thing matters:
      We love good music.
      Period.
      And *THAT* ?
      Unites all of us.
      Or, it should.
In my not so very humble opinion.
      Your mileage may vary.
So, hate me for being liberal, if you feel you must.
I don't hate you for being conservative.
But don't blame "liberals" like me for these bands not getting into the Rock Hall.
      It's not *OUR* fault.
Any more than it's *YOUR* fault.
It's the voting body within the Rock Hall that makes those decisions.
      They are the gatekeepers.
If you disagree with their decision not to include these bands?
      Then write to them.
      Make your voice heard.
Tell them you want all these bands inducted who haven't been inducted yet.
Maybe if enough of us write?
They'll finally listen and induct them.

      @Mary C
First, the whole band should be in the Rock Hall.
      Not just Randy.
Second, them being Canadian has nothing to do with it.
And I know you know that.
Rush is Canadian, and they're in.
It's not called The American Music Only Rock'n'roll Hall of Fame.
Artists can be from anywhere in the world.
      Including Canada.
Including every continent and country on our planet.
If you want them inducted because you feel they should be?
      Which I agree with?
Write to the gatekeepers at the Rock Hall itself and demand these great, deserving bands be inducted finally.
Don't blame their country of origin for them not getting in.
You know very well that nationality has nothing to do with it.
Carole King, who is an American singer songwriter, still has yet to be inducted for her solo music performance career.
Just her album Tapestry alone should have gotten her inducted.
She got in as a songwriter with Gerry Goffin, but not as a solo recording and performing artist, and that seems ridiculous.
The Go-Go's are American, and they're not in yet, either.
Nor is Sheryl Crow and she's American.
Or Dolly Parton and she's American.
Mariah Carey and Mary J. Blige are both American and *THEY'RE* not in yet, either.
Boston is American and they're not in yet.
      So what's my point?
A band's *NATIONALITY* has nothing to do with them not being inducted.
And I know you know that.

I just watched a video of Led Zeppelin playing Earl's Court in 1975, IMO already then obviously in steep decline, but hundreds of comments were fawning over them like they were Jesus or something. Then I come here and these guys wipe the floor with them. To each his own, but I think Zep is one of the most overrated bands in rock history, and BTO one of the most underappreciated. They're just not perceived to be upper crust top tier, which is a grave injustice. I was lucky enough to catch them in this classic lineup maybe a couple years (I don't remember the exact year, I'm getting old) later playing a smallish club and it remains one of the top musical experiences of my life.
